Over the last ten years, my home has had several roof repairs due to leaks that we have noticed. We found a small proprietor who helped us each time and our experience with him was great but he left to retire in Arizona. This time around, we had to start from scratch and I had four different roofers assess our situation. Out of the four, I narrowed down to JRT and another roofer. Both roofers provided me options and based on everything that I have learned, I realized that it was time for a "lift and relay" and replace all the felt paper underneath the tiles since my home was built in 1995 -- so it was time. JRT provided me a fix option but I pursued the "lift and relay." JRT helped me placed two layers of felt paper so that i shouldn't have to worry about anymore roof problems for the rest my lifetime. Steve Martinez was the person from JRT who met with me and became the point person for me. He explained and showed me everything in detail. Since my leak was related to the chimney, he said he'll also install crickets for me as part of the lift and relay. Since I am doing this, I asked him if I should replace my roof tiles and he recommended that I can save some money and keep the tiles since my cement tiles are in good shape and should be lifetime tiles. Given the mold, algae, and other stuff growing on my tiles, I decided to hire another service provider to clean it off - which I am happy that I did because my roof tiles look brand new. The project itself took ~ 18 work days to complete and it involved two roofers at my home for 9 hours each day. The two roofers are two brothers who were super comprehensive in everything they did. Lets be honest, if they wanted to, they could have just lift off the tiles and just laid down two layers of felt paper and called it a day. However, I can tell by their daily activities and the wood used that they did some serious wood repair. I also noticed that they matched the color of the grates and the morter to my roof tile colors -- which looks great!! The original morter on my roof was gray like cement and all my neighbors are probably jealous now at how great my roof looks. The 18 days of work was longer than I expected, but given the care and attention to detail of their work -- my wife and I didn't mind at all. Lastly, lets be honest, I am not a roofer so I can't tell if they are doing great work or just simply superficial work. The only thing I can use is my commonsense and I can tell that Steve and his team did not take any shortcuts and did all the right thing. Here's an example, I dropped off my son from school and returned home at around 9am and I saw the JRT truck leaving so I flagged him down and asked if everything was done. He said yes and everything is good and he drove away. 15 minutes later when I was leaving my home for for work, the same gentleman came driving back as I was driving out and I asked him why he came back. He said that he just realized that he should take an extra step to make sure that the gutter was all good as he took out his ladder. I left for work that day knowing that my roof is in good hands. Lets be honest, most contractors probably wouldn't have come back. This interaction and other small actions that I observed over the last 20+ days showed me that Steve and his team actually cares about the final product. At the end of the day, that is all you can ask for. Lastly, in my little cul de sac, there are literally 7 homes and 3 homes (including my home) have done the same lift and relay investment in the last 2 months. Out of the three homes, I can clearly tell that my roof looks much better than the other two - and it looks brand new. I would start this review by stating that I'm an ex shop teacher and VERY particular on workmanship issues, which explains why my neighbors value my referrals for contractors. After getting eight companies to bid the lift and relay roofing job, it became clear that many of these competitors were paper pushers who made up bids, and were clueless on some basic questions about things like new underlayment materials and inspections. A request for an estimate was met with an immediate return phone call from Jennifer laying out the timeline for estimate, job start, and completion which turned out to be right on the money. When Josh came out to measure and do a drone survey, he went back to the office and did a detailed 14 page GAF measure roof report. The use of Owens Corning Titanium UDL 50 over traditional 2x30# paper seems to be the emergent technology; after the success of Titanium in Florida and Texas. Once Josh has the job, you'll see his smiling face often as project manager, who choreographed material deliveries, tearoff, replacement of rotted wooden sheating and fascia, underpayment, and relay very efficiently. Our 3000 sq ft house was reroofed in exactly 10 days, just as Josh said with a wonderful crew led by Felipe of three craftsman. Having been around tradespeople for many years, it didn't take long to recognize these guys were very happy to be working together and more importantly working to create a quality job for the customer. It's not too often that you get to see a team so competent and respectful of the house and the people inside, along with the neighbors. Cleanup was done at the end of the day and start was according to HOA restrictions. Other roofers in the neighborhood hired day laborers or subcontracted out the tearoff, while juggling multiple jobs, resulting in long completion times. The pricing for the job was very fair, change orders for unforeseen items, like hidden wood damage or broken tiles were always explained and documented. In summary, if you want a quality job using American made state-of-the-art materials with a very fair price, then JRT is your go to. We had an issue with our general contractor not doing our metal roof properly, and asked Joey for advice since he's a pro.
