Their chow mein is one of the best I've ever had! The noodles are always cooked perfectly with a good chewy texture and the meat is always super tender. Great flavors and not overly greasy. This used to be a good restaurant, but it has gone downhill since they opened. My husband and I went in with our three year-old daughter and things were visibly dirty. The tops of the sauce containers were slimy and crusty, so we didn't even use them. On our way to the bathroom, we saw a dead cockroach on the floor at the exit of the kitchen. It's not better than anything that you would get at a hole in the wall Chinese establishment. I wish this place has paid more attention to the little things because that's what matters. This time I ordered braised beef noodle soup. Im not sure what the meat was. It was inedible. The broth was good, strong cilantro taste and the noodles were OK. This is my new favorite spot for great food! All of their veggie dishes are so vibrant and tasty and everything is big enough for sharing with the whole table. The service is great too. We decided to try this new Chinese place that opened 3 months ago. It's located in the Target shopping center on University in Vista. First impression was that I enjoyed the clean, fresh, spacious restaurant with modern vibes. I loved the neon wall decor. We were seated immediately on a Saturday afternoon during lunch. On the menu, I noticed a foot note that said they upcharge by 15% for dining in! However, when we got our bill, there was no up charge. Hopefully, they aren't actually enforcing that. We were a party of four and tried many things on the menu. The servings are generous! Definitely enough in one dish to feed two or three people very well. I ordered the Cumin Beef since I had never seen that on the menu and wanted to try something unique. It had very much cumin. I had to add soy sauce to tone it down a bit, and the beef was a bit chewy -3/5 stars. White rice was not included with any of our dishes, but we paid extra to have some. We also tried the Spam fried rice - 4/5 stars. Vegetable fried rice 4/5 stars. It was good but nothing special and the only veggie they included was broccoli. Mongolian beef was tasty, spicy and very good - 4/5 stars. We had the crab wontons - 5/5 stars; steamed dumplings which I give 3/5 stars because I didn't like the mushy texture. Finally, we had some beef and onion steamed buns 5/5 stars. One immediate pitfall I noticed was that they served canned Coke. That means no free refills! However, water does have unlimited refills. We didn't have to wait to be seated, surprisingly, but it was a packed house the Saturday that we went! As always, we were overwhelmed with the amount of options, but went with the Rice Noodles with Beef, the XLB, and Wontons with Spicy Oil. The rice noodles were delicious, albeit a bit too much for two people to finish together. I thought they were a bit more on the greasy side, so be wary of that when ordering. The spicy wontons were a hit for us as well (and the only plate we were actually able to finish out of the three). I would actually rank the XLB last - while I liked the filling, I thought the dumplings were a bit on the doughier side. Great dinner option if you're in the Vista area! 4/5. read more

I normally order the pork and chive dumplings, which I enjoy, but this time I wanted to try something new. I ordered the wontons with spicy oil and the cucumber salad. The wontons were pretty mid, some were overcooked, and the oil had no spice to it. The cucumber salad was okay but it was just super garlicky, lacking salt, and weirdly slimy. I don't know why it was so slimy, I ended up just washing them and eating them with some salt and Tajín. Overall I just don't really recommend these items. read more

This is a cute little place and the staff were friendly. We have been looking for soup dumplings place near us and gave this place a try. We ordered the cucumber salad. It was a little too garlicky for us but the cucumbers were excellent. Nice and crunchy. We got the pork soup dumplings. They were ok. Usually I wait to eat them because the soup is so hot (at other restaurants), but these were ready to eat. In fact, they weren't very hot inside at all. They had good flavor though. So, myself and the family have been driving all the way to Powys to eat at the Joyee's there. I was overjoyed to see this new location going in near my local target store. My daughter and I stopped in for lunch yesterday, and were not disappointed! I actually think this location is better than Poway. Cute and casual decor, with one wall covered with adorable neon signs giving a cool street market-ish vibe. Food came out really quickly, but tasted fresh. Greenbeans, pepper beef, and dumplings/potstickers. Rice and tea are extra cost, but overall very inexpensive dinner. The only dish we didn't love is the potstickers, they tasted like they came from Costco, not what we were expecting from a place called Dumpling House. Only weird thing was they removed the sauces (vinegar/soy/chili) from our table before we were seated. We looked around and took a set from the empty table next to us when it felt like the waitstaff was really busy. We love Joyee! I frequent the Poway Joyee location at least 3 times a month and am always a fan of their menu and food. I was so sad when one of their gals, Micki, left as the Vista location is much closer to her home. So I made the trek up there just to see her! When she saw me approaching, she exclaimed "Are you here to see me??" and held out her arms for her a hug. She is the BEST! This location is situated in a strip mall that shares the parking lot with Target, Ross and a few other stores right off the freeway. Parking is pretty ample so no complaints there. Our go-to items: Xiao Long Bao: juicy soup dumplings that come out piping hot and comforting to our hungry bellies Bok Choy: such a simple dish with a gargantuan amount of flavor with the slivers of garlic they add in...the sauce is light but full of aromatics. Eggplant with Szechuan Sauce: we have them add on shrimp and it's Chef's Kiss delish! Calamari: lightly battered calamari rings...pretty standard but still good Honey Walnut Shrimp: also lightly battered and sauced with the ritual mayo dressing along with candied walnuts. Always a fave! Spicy Chil Oil Wontons: one of my favorites...I can put that sauce on everyting Pork and Shrimp Dumplings: use that chili sauce on these babies and thank me later. Overall, I would totally make the drive over just to see my favorite gal who is the sweetest and even remembers what I like to order. Fast, friendly service too. What's not to like? First and foremost the portions are big! It was just my mom and I. We definitely over ordered, but everything is absolutely delicious! It came out pretty fast as well. My favorite was the scallion pancake, it was flakey and perfectly oniony. The egg drop soup was so comforting as well, it has tomato in it which was odd to me but it wasn't bad.
