It seems like people come to Yelp to leave negative reviews for Joybird, so I just wanted to chime in about my positive experience (winter 2019). Yes, we waited just over 2 months from order placement to delivery, but everything was well worth the wait. It took about 3 weeks from the time Joybird said our order shipped to the time we received it, which was a little frustrating, but not a dealbreaker. For what it's worth, we live in a California suburb in a single-story house, so not much can go wrong in terms of JB Hunt moving the furniture into the house, especially when the furniture was only transported up through the state from LA. We ordered: Briar sectional in Lucky Turquoise/Medium Wood, Eastwood Swivel chair in Vibe Sunkist/Medium Wood, Lalit Ottoman in Bentley Indigo/Cherry Wood, and Kavi Ottoman in Bentley Daisey. Definitely order the free swatch kit because the online visualization tool is not very accurate. All of the furniture looks impeccable (minus one dark spot in the fabric on the side of the couch which is not worth making a fuss over). It goes so well together and feels sturdy/nicely made. Everything is comfortable and very nap-worthy. Only thing is that the Eastwood chair is a little deeper than we were expecting, so it may feel awkward to those who prefer a more shallow chair. So glad we took the risk ordering all of our furniture online! Wouldn't hesitate to order from Joybird again. read more

Truly dishonest company. They took 2 months to ship an item. I refused it and then called the company. The company charges a 50% fee. Yes, that is correct. I said well you're just going to restock. She said, no we lose money. Of course that is ridiculous. It's a brand new item and the company would not actually lose any money because they obviously had a markup on the item and can deduct losses as well on their corporate return. What they are is just truly dishonest. They obviously do have physical locations and obviously could put the item in the warehouse. They brag about their excellent return policies but the small print is predatory. The quality is ok not great. read more

Honestly had a fine experience. We ordered a couch that was already made and super discounted. It got delivered 2 weeks later, found it very comfy and the velvet fabric very soft and had no issues so far (only been 2 months so take this all with a grain of salt). Another negative review. I purchased the Bryant sofa. As someone else mentioned in another review, the cushions are not stuffed evenly and the ones not stuffed enough are EXTREMELY uncomfortable. The sofa looks amazing and beautiful so I will give them that. But when I asked to rectify the stuffing issue they basically said you're crazy and imagining things. So I called customer service and they said that there is a delay with the wood so the new delivery date would be beginning of July. July is almost ending and I called again and there is no update. They have no decency to provide an updated status nor are they apologetic for the delay. If you order your furniture, expect to have many delays or to never receive your product. I have never had a worse experience ordering furniture in my life. Just writing this review makes my blood boil. I ordered a leather sofa that was "in stock and ready to ship in 5 days!" from Joybird. I got an email a couple days later saying I could follow the progress and will be given updates as the couch went through the steps to getting to me-- how awesome! It was bull. No updates for a week. Hmmm, wasn't it supposed to ship out in 5 days? I called and chatted with multiple reps. Each one told me something different. One told me it would ship in "2 days, so sorry about that!" One told me "it already shipped 2 days ago, it's on it's way!" When I asked for a tracking number they couldn't give me one. When I called back a few days later to get a tracking number, the rep said it hadn't shipped yet. When I called back a few days later, they didn't know where my sofa was or when it would ship out. When I called back a few days later the rep said it shipped out today. I told her I hadn't gotten an email confirmation. She said I should soon. I got four the next day. Finally the couch arrived. DAMAGED. The customer service rep on the phone could not have been ruder. I wanted to cry. After the entire process I should have just returned it and went through a more reputable, honest company that actually worked well. But I was so exhausted that I just took it. Joybird, as a company, has no quality control. we had to get the same item delivered 3 times in order to get one that was acceptable. the first one had a damaged hinge that was splitting the wood/causing the door to sag/scape the frame. the second one was not finished. it has unfinished, chipping/splintering wood everywhere you looked. The legs literally fell off as they delivered it. Instead of taking it back, they told us we had to accept it and have a furniture repair person come out and repair it, but when the legs were literally falling off, I told them I'm not accepting it. The delivery guys thought i was crazy for trying to accept it in the first place (i thought i was too), but i was told that i had to. the third one has scratches on the back, but that's ok given where it's located in the house. they don't book returns with the deliveries. I emailed them on Friday about this issue, and haven't gotten a response by Tuesday, so I followed up with their live chat and now I have to wait 1-2 days for the warranty team to approve a return that should have been scheduled with the delivery. I'm not sure what kind of material my Hughes couch is, but I've never seen leather behave this way. It's a camel color, but if water gets on it or it gets scratched, it gets lighter not darker. It's like the color fades or peels off. I'm so upset. I spent over $2k for this couch and it's theoretically beautiful, but over time it will look worse, not better. It also took like 3 months to arrive, and I had to help delivery get it into my apartment by taking it out of the box (box was too big for my standard elevator?). Overall extremely disappointed and will never order from them again. As many others have said, do not buy from this company! I have purchased many things from Joybird, and up until 2019, they did a great job of fulfilling their orders and they had great communication. This is no longer the case. They have turned a fan into a hater. I will go out of my way to share my experience. After waiting 4 months for a custom built sofa, it arrived damaged. The carrier could not get them to answer their phone so they had to leave the sofa for me to deal with. I had no idea how horrible their customer service is. I thought it would be simple to get in touch with them. Not so. The sofa was delivered on April 6 and 16 days later, I am still trying to get this monstrosity out of my home. Joybird does not answer their phone. You are forced to leave a message. You can send an email online, but they don't respond to those either. If you are lucky enough to get a call back, which I did, they will quickly go over the return process: 3 days for this to happen, 7 days for that to happen, 5 days for this, etc... I asked for an email detailing the process and they said, sure! Guess what? No email. So, I took to social media asking them to call me. They finally did (after blocking me on FB), and said they sent an email to me and it must have filtered to spam. I'm not that dumb. Joybird is a trusted sender. I checked my spam anyway....no email. They said they would re-send the email and I would have it in 10 minutes. I should have kept them holding on the line for 10 minutes because....you guessed it, no email! I contacted the Better Business Bureau and filed a report. If you are looking to purchase something from Joybird, do your due diligence and check the consumer reviews and reports on BBB. It's shocking to see that people file a negative report against Joybird almost every other day. What do I need to do to get this piece of damaged furniture out of my house???? read more

Ordered a couch in March and it was delivered in May with several issues: 1. They neglected to drill a hold in the bottom for one of the legs. 2. The hardware that connects the sectional pieces was installed incorrectly and doesn't lock. 3. The fabric has dirt marks on on a few pillows and sectional pieces. 4. Strings are coming out of several seems. I wish I would have ordered a couch from West Elm or Article or frankly anywhere else. What a nightmare. read more

I really love their furniture BUT: We just ordered a (beautiful) desk from them. Their delivery service not only destroyed the edges of the desk in the process, but they also put serval holes in our walls trying to bring it upstairs (one flight!). Holes in our walls!!! We need to return the damaged desk, which is currently sitting in our living room taking up space, and I would LOVE for Joybird to take responsibility for damaging our walls (in several places!), but they won't return our emails or calls and time is ticking by on their return policy. I see from the other reviews that that's standard for them. Super disappointing because they do really pretty work, but, like--the LEAST they could do is come pick up the desk THEY damaged and refund us. Pretty outrageous business practices. read more

Wow. Joybird sofas look beautiful and ours is comfortable BUT they are SOOOO POORLY MADE! And they are expensive. Such a disappoint b/c I love the fabric and style of ours as well as the comfort (for now). But they are really, really poorly made. Seams are quickly stitched and not serged so they are fraying already. We are going to have to figure out how to serge/protect the seams so the cushions don't come apart. And the stuffing is really shoddy. If you sit on the sofa and get up you leave indents/wrinkles. The cushion fabric is too big/loose. What a fuck mess. The store looks beautiful. Fabric looks so nice. But they are crap. :( read more

This company is such a joke to do business with: ~ they lie outright about delivery dates ~ they're happy to take your money and tell you some total BS about expected delivery dates, over and over again ~ literally take over 4 months (and counting -- still no furniture!) to deliver furniture ordered, paid for and promised last year Joybird's shipping/assembly company JB HUNT is horribly inept with just about every aspect of shipping and assembly: ~ offer delivery dates ONE MONTH AFTER THEY HAVE MY FURNITURE. ~ do not show up for that date and when I finally reach a human, they make it seem like it's my fault because I picked the first available date that THEY OFFERED ME which happened to fall on xmas eve. ~ do not answer any/all forms of communication ~ bail on second delivery with no contact or notice they aren't coming ~ show up on THE DAY AFTER the third scheduled delivery date with incorrect tools to assemble furniture, decide furniture is defective after 2 hours trying to assemble, take furniture and bail. ~ never contact me again despite my repeated attempts to contact them Nice fabrics tho. guess I'll sleep on the teeny stack of sample fabrics, instead of AN ACTUAL BED THAT I ORDERED IN NOVEMBER 2020. read more

After spending about $10,000 on furniture for a second home that is visited approximately two months a year, the furniture purchased has been less than durable. The bed had to be replaced due to falling apart and not being stable to sleep on. The couch purchased was a sleeper sofa, and the couch always feels like you are sitting on a slat and not level. They have tried to fix it a few times without success. Now the material is coming apart at the seams. You would think after spending so much money, the quality of the merchandise would be more durable when used only part time. Very disappointed and would not purchase from them again. read more

So my experience with Joybird has been very frustrating. I placed an order for a supposedly ready to ship item, but the expected delivery date has come and gone and I've heard nothing. I've reached out to their team to try and receive an update on my delivery. Now I can't even reach them by phone or email or Facebook. Nobody is responding? If you are considering purchasing here, I would suggest instead buying from a reputable company like West Elm or CB2 who has similar prices but has far superior customer service, and doesn't lie about shipping timelines and then disappear when you try to contact them afterwards. read more

TLDR: My couch arrived torn and with no legs. The full story: September 8 - Order confirmed. October 11 - I receive an "order has been shipped" email. October 22 - I received a JB Hunt "Last Mile" email requesting me to schedule my delivery. The earliest available date is November 3. November 3 - Order arrives via JB Hunt on this date, but JB Hunt representatives recommend we reject it due to the scratched/torn fabric. So we reject it, and contact Joybird ASAP. In response to our email, we receive an email saying that I need to give the "warranty team 5-7 business days to reply with a solution to your issue." November 4 - We receive an email from Joybird saying it "typically takes 5-7 business days to source and hire a technician," to somehow repair scratched/torn fabric. They seem to imply it's just a crease and not a tear. I correct them via email. I'm personally confused how a technician can repair torn cloth. November 5 - I call JB Hunt to return the damaged couch to my home. The earliest shipment return date is two weeks out, on November 17. November 11 - Received call from a furniture repair technician. They said the earliest available date for a technician to fix the fabric would be November 25. November 17 - Damaged couch arrives with no legs. Complaint filed to Joybird and their email response comes in on the same day. New legs are ordered. They mention it will take "at least 3-4 weeks" to create the new legs. No word about shipping, but logging into the site said to expect it December 26-30. I also report the damage to our home caused by the shipping company. November 25 - Technician comes, but all his equipment is to smooth a crease. He's a great guy, but he says it's a tear and it can't be fixed and that he's reporting it to Joybird. A manager from Joybird apologizes for the damage to my home, but says I need to fill out a form for JB Hunt and need to work directly with JB Hunt for a resolution, essentially washing their hands from the mess. Current status, from Thanksgiving to December 10: No legs. Couch is ripped still. Damaged walls and floor. Countless emails and no resolutions. Joybird still wants me to: 1) Wait for the legs 2) Call them so they can source a technician 3) Coordinate with a technician on an installation date 4) Send out an insurance form directly to JB Hunt Areas where I'm completely clueless: 1) Are they gonna do anything about the ripped fabric? 2) When will this nightmare be over? My sofa has finally arrived today after 4 months of waiting (was supposed to be 2 months). It's... ok? Not the worst but cheap looking and uncomfortable. Trying to return it because of their highly touted return policy only to realize I need to pay for return shipping and a 10% restocking fee.
