We used to go to Joy Luck Club all the time when we lived closer, but haven't been back much since moving. Lately though, we've been bummed out by the mediocrity of our local Chinese food places... so we went back. And wow -- reminder received. We ordered General Tso's tofu, General Tso's chicken, and sesame chicken and all of it was top tier. The tofu was some of the best we've had in a long time, and the chicken was cooked perfectly -- crispy and saucy without being burnt in or dry and full of flavor. Honestly, this was the best Chinese food we've had in a while, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. Definitely worth the drive. We will absolutely be back. read more

The Joy Luck club is strictly takeout. Regarding ambience for eating in, they do have a few tables, but it has a very cold and bleak interior. Regarding the food, it is likely the best Chinese food in the Ridge, Rocky Point and waiting river area. The orders are always correct and they front counter. People are very nice and friendly. Although it's not the great Chinese food I remember as a kid, it is most likely the best in the area. That's why I gave it three stars. read more

Name of merchant: JOY LUCK CLUB We ordered chinese food from the Joy Luck club restaurant yesterday (4/3/2025) at approximately 6pm. We purchased EXPEDITED delivery via Uber Eats. The original delivery time was ~6:29pm. The food was NOT delivered until 7:30pm!!!! It was late and it was COLD. When my son tried to cancel at 7pm, he received a prompt stating we would be charged an ADDITIONAL $32 when they had already missed the committed timeline for delivery! When I tried to access my account to RATE this vendor, the order cannot be found - even Uber Eats could not find it in THEIR system! Thankfully, I received an email that CONFIRMS I placed an order and it is time stamped 7:28pm!!! Uber Eats said there is nothing they could do, so I am reporting the incident and letting people know what happened. Very upset since my son was returning home from a medical visit and had not eaten ALL day! I would like to give the restaurant 0 stars - but the system forced my to put 1 Star! read more

The food quality has gone downhill since Dave and Mim (the owners) are no longer running the place. The fried rice is plain, as it used to have bits of carrots and scrambled egg in it. The egg rolls are EXTREMLY GREASY too. When the owners were cooking / running the place the food was excellent. They now have family running it. I was going there for over 20yrs. In some businesses having your product described as Chewy can be the highest compliment. I suppose gum manufactures compete each year the the "Chew" award. Manufactures of teething rings and pig ears for dogs, probably have advanced machines that have a objective scale to measure Chewiness. They have build an industry around things that give joy, when our teeth get a chance to "tear it up" even if not literally. If you haven't figured out where this is going yet, I'll be direct. On my recent outing to Joy Luck i was unlucky enough to have a appetizer of boneless spare ribs that could best be described as Chewy. But I must say everything that we had the dim sum, the hot and sour soup, shrimp with Chinese vegetables and my general tsao's with the house special rice fried rice was very very good.. Fast, cheap, tasty Chinese delivery. Shrimp w/broccoli is always yummy, in a brown sauce, tons of broccoli and a kinda sparse amount of shrimp. I love the fact that they offer brown rice unlike some other Chinese places. Boneless BBQ spare ribs are really very good and flavorful but kinda fatty and could def be trimmed. Cheese wontons, dumplings, pork egg rolls are all good. Wonton soup is good, but last time I got it, the meat inside looked a little dark and unappetizing. Hot & sour soup is good and always packed to the brim. Crunchy wonton strips are good, as well as the homemade duck sauce, but that kinda tastes more like a sweet & sour sauce than typical duck sauce. Tried it today, my 7 yr old loved the wings, said they were full of flavor and not dried out. My nearly 4 yr old liked the sweet and sour chicken a lot and the cheese wontons. So the rice is hard as rock, the wings are seasoned with curry (which I notice is the new fad in fast food Chinese in this area and that is curry wings), I ordered just plain wonton noodles, was charged for wonton noodles fried with beef versus a bag of the once complimentary noodles. I don't generally like fast food Chinese but wanted an egg roll and a few wings. My mistake! Also the shrimp egg roll has such an overwhelming taste of seafood it's like I'm eating a bowl of shrimps with shrimp perfume sprayed on it. It's bad, just utterly bad! Wish I could put 0 stars. Stay away! These good reviews must be paid for! Just threw away 14 bucks for a tub of broccoli with two definitely not jumbo shrimp mixed in. So very disappointed not only in the food but in the management. I called to complain and was simply told that shrimps a dollar each and we charged u for 2, so basically sounds like they got my order screwed up somehow and wouldn't replace or refund me. They are crooks by definition if you've read this and order anyway I hope you have a better experience then me but more then likely you will receive horribly portioned food and terrible customer service at a price that could break the bank (dollar per shrimp smh).
