    Satay beef noodle soup
    Jack H.

Saw this place in Instagram and pinned it to my list to go to in Chinatown. The menu is extensive and has a little bit for everyone's craving for the day. You know it's a good sign when you walk in and you hear the uncs and aunties yappin. It just means this place is authentic ! The Satay Beef Noodle soup was great. It has a spice in it I can't pinpoint, but it made it unique to any other beef noodle soup I've had. I was expecting a taste closer to bun bo hue, but no it's something different. Still very tasty! The cucumbers innit was a surprise and it worked very well. The chicken wings came out piping hot and crunchy. The chicken itself didn't have much flavor tho. The chow fun is something I'd order again. The beef was cooked with a Smokiness flavor to it. This spot accepts card for payment, so I am happy that I didn't have to pull money at an ATM. The staff is very friendly and can give recommendations.

I ordered some wonton soup, the wonton were one of the best ones ive tasted, brings me back to Hong Kong when I lived there and had this soup winter nights. Service was quick, portions on the small bowl was too little in my opinion. Definitely a must try if your in SF and want a quick fix, parking is hard so take an Uber or walk. Restaurant was clean.

Great spot for a quick solo lunch. There are so many options in Chinatown but many are cash only, some might take credit card. But for me who forgot my wallet at home, I needed a spot with great food that also took apple/google pay. I ordered the pho gai with chicken organs. Rare I ever see chicken organs on the menu so this was a happy surprise for me. Food came out fairly quickly and it was a decent portion that I was able to finish too. The auntie that greeted me is very friendly and also speaks Canto, Mando, and English! They recently remodeled the place and it's spacious and clean. Give it a try next time you're craving some viet-chinese food :)

Vietnamese - Chinese food. Good service, good food. Convenient to get to bus stop right outside. Big parking lot across street.

Beef chow fun. Lots of beef.

First visit: clean and pretty large for something so central/affordable. Beef chow fun was good. I tipped well and provided a 5-star review. Second visit: ordered rare beef, brisket, tendon and tripe pho. Not sure if they saw the review or if they expected I would tip as well regardless of their service, but the bowl came out without tendon and tripe. I was not advised of this beforehand. When I asked the waitress about it, she told me that they haven't served that in a long time. Rude. I should have been told about the change while ordering or they should've made adjustments to the menu! It's misleading. I'm not handing out free 4 and 5-star reviews anymore, y'all. I see why the restaurant was so empty now :(

Stopped by for lunch today excited to see what what sort of BBQ they have. Don't let the name fool you. There's not much BBQ here and certainly no BBQ noodles. The only BBQ they have here are six rice plates and you can choose from: beef, pork or chicken. There are no BBQ meats over noodles as an option. The other 95% of their menu consists of noodle soups, vermicelli, entrees, seafoods, rice plates, chow fun, chow mein and veggies. I ordered their yellow sliced chicken noodle soup. Comes with a side of ginger sauce, a slice of lemon and jalapenos. The broth was wayyy overly salted. I could already taste the salt burning my tongue. Too much MSG. My colleague ate here and she felt soo sleepy afterwards. I did enjoy the hot tea provided. The restaurant only had 2 other tables when I dined in. It was quiet but maybe it's a Monday? No service after your order is placed. Very quick my noodle soup came out in 2 mins after I placed my order. I said "Wow that was quick!" The server responded "Yeah, it's soup so it's quick!"

I visited Joy Hing during lunch hour on a Friday and there were a lot tables to choose from. The waitress attended to me quickly and brought me a hot tea and glass of iced water. I ordered Rare Beef Flank and Meatball Pho and it was great!! I added some of the condiments to give my Pho a bit more flavor. I enjoyed it very much and will likely visit again.

The chicken pho is distinctive here for its aromatic broth and the flavor of chicken meat. I haven't tasted the meat of the chicken itself in many years, as most establishments offer chicken that is either completely bland, fried, or over-seasoned. Here, the simple, slightly gamey flavor of fresh chicken shines through and it is delicious! The broth is rich and compliments the chicken and thin noodles (our preference over the wide noodles). The only accompaniments are slices of lemon and jalapeño and a tiny saucer of ginger scallion sauce. We were disappointed that the fried egg rolls did not resemble imperial rolls.

My friend and I went to Joy Hing Bar-B-Que Noodle for lunch. The restaurant had both Vietnamese and Chinese Dishes on the menu. We got sweet and sour chicken with pineapple, rice, and house chow mein. I wanted to get house special chow fun but they were out of the noodles. The service was quick, the portions were large and I enjoyed both dishes. I would come back to this restaurant when I am in the area again. :)

Once they started calling tables, it moved really fast. When we were seated, we ended up sharing a table with two other groups of two. I actually didn't mind it at all because there was still enough space between everyone to have privacy. It also made the experience feel more social -- I ended up chatting with the people to my right and left about the food. Everything we ordered was really good. Their popular dry fried chicken absolutely lived up to the hype and was probably my favorite thing on the menu... besides the cherry pork. I feel like nobody talks about the cherry pork enough! It was SO good -- kind of like a sweet-and-sour pork without the sour. I dipped it in soy sauce because I loved the sweet and salty combo together. The dumplings were also really good. The wrapper was thin and delicious, but my boyfriend said he wished they had a little more protein filling and less leek. The green beans are always a hit. The only thing I probably wouldn't order again was the black bean sauce noodles. Maybe I just expected a different flavor, but to me they honestly tasted like regular lo mein. I'm also not a huge noodle person in general, so I'd probably skip them next time and order something else instead. Forgot to mention their prices are on point! Definitely recommend to any of the tourists. I think the weight is definitely worth it and I love being able to take home my leftovers and eating them for lunch and dinner the next day.

"Everything!" That's all one needs to say. At the entrance, clearly marked are signs reading, "Reservations" and "Walk-ins". Since we had reservations, we waited only a few minutes to get seated at the bar. The bar makes it easy to converse with your partner and to peer over as the fire from the range springs up from the kitchen. Our server brought us some "Free Bites" of roasted peanuts and smashed cucumbers. She was such a pleasant lady with quite the wit that made me laugh between courses. We ordered a full bottle of Negori sake. Note: if you do not finish the sake bottle, they cannot pack it to go for you, so drink up! Obviously, we couldn't order everything on the menu. For our first visit, we definitely wanted their special dish, Fried Squab. It was delicious! The meat was moist and the dipping salt with Sichuan peppercorn paired perfectly! Just don't focus too much on the visual... the head and claws. Hot Mustard Jellyfish Salad ~ I loved the "crunch" of the jellyfish and the hot mustard marinade was just spicy enough to start a slow burn up the nose. Beef Chow Fun Noodles ~ Delicious and so very savory. I was amazed at how flavorful this dish was without being salty. Clay Pot Rice w/Chinese Sausage & Bacon ~ Loved how the entire pot was seasoned nicely. The sauce did not only sit at the top, but penetrated deep down into the rice. XO Escargot w/Milkbread ~ I've only had French Escargot and these are just as good, if not better! Fish Fragrant Eggplant ~ Another savory and very umami dish. Red Bean Shaved Ice ~ Always a refreshing dessert. Dig in for the surprise in the center. We had such a nice, cozy dinner here. Even while at the bar, we never felt for lack of space. They paced the dishes out perfectly, so there was always room to eat and enjoy. Looking forward to returning and trying more items on the menu.

The mixture of proteins was also tasteful. Now for the pork dumplings, the presentation was nice and also tasted great with nice hints of shrimp.
