Great spot for some brunch when you want to catch a game since there's plenty of screens. The options are an unlimited buffet or unlimited buffet with bottomless mimosas. I'm not sure if it's a new event they're doing on Sunday's but the food was decent. They had a DJ which played great music nothing too loud you couldn't speak but countless throwbacks that made you dance in your seat (some dancing in the open space). My friend had her birthday at this place last month. Our group did brunch and mimosas. I opted out of brunch because I'm on a vegan diet (temporarily) and there were no vegan options and only a couple of vegetarian options (macaroni?). The vibe of the place is basic river north (if you know you know). Not my type of vibe but the place seemed like a hot destination for those interested in partying on the roof. 4.5 Stars So as i mention before I planned on coming back to try more menu items. I was meeting a friend for a business happy hour. It was so hot outside so we opted to sit inside. I love places that have the huge open windows so it feels like your outside, but your in cool air conditioning. We both went off our diets and ordered the cheese burger. OMG soooooooo good! The meat was so flavorful and the cheese is actually cooked inside the burger. It comes with a side of fries and for $2.00 extra we ordered extra dipping sauces for the fries. I would definitely recommend the chipotle mayo dipping sauce. Truly going off our diet we finished our meals with dessert. My friend got the Blueberry Lemon Cake and I went with the Cotton Candy shortcake. Both were winners! Gotta say this visit was a 360 in terms of service. We were greeted upon entering (and I know what your thinking and no I didn't have reservations so they had no idea who I was) :). Our waiter Ryan was awesome!!! This place is absolute trash. I attempted to make a reservation for 5, three days before we planned to go out, and no one reached out to confirm or secure our spot. I attempted to a call on the days leading up and no one ever answered the phone, which struck me as odd considering they're a business that's still operating during a pandemic. We arrive on Friday, the night in question, and are told by the host that there is a $1500 minimum for our party of five on the rooftop. This alone blew my mind, it was only five women. What exactly did they expect us to purchase among the 5 of us that would amount to $1500? We decided to ditch the rooftop and opt for a table inside of the "parlay" area. The waitress greeted us with water, told us how to access the menu, and immediately explained how she was only able to split the check a certain amount of ways. I explained the check wouldn't be split at all, and she dashed away to give us time with the menu. The menu was so limited, that brunch options were listed. There was no drink menu, but instead a bottle list. You'd think that instead of the waitress assuming we'd have issues with the check, she'd explain the lack of options compared to the rooftop. When she returned to the table she explained that there was a full bar, but there were still limits on what we could drink (no frozen drinks, only you call its). We decided to pass, as the menu options weren't appeasing and the ambiance was bland, grey, and forgotten about. On our way out we noticed another patron asking of the minimum for the rooftop. It was a party of three and the same host told our Caucasian counterparts that there was no minimum for the rooftop, that they're good to go up. This place is ridiculous. Their greed and low morals left us astonished during this very stressful, and racially sensitive time. We didn't realize there were still areas in the beautifully diverse city of Chicago, that still preyed on minorities and applied stereotypes so immediately that they missed out on money. Some friends and I checked out Joy District for happy hour the first day it was open to the public--WOW. Epic who? Upon walking through the door, Joy District screamed a cool 90s vibe and an inviting ambiance. I was immediately drawn in. The food is creative and presented so beautifully. Don't miss out on the Tuna Poke Cones and the Homemade Tots--whoa. We ordered quite a lot of food and enjoyed each and every dish. Finally we enjoyed the banana split (with bacon!) dessert--delish. The service was on point--attentive, friendly, and the chef even came out to chat (a major plus for any restaurant). The second floor of the bar looks like it'll be amazing and I'm looking forward to checking that out once it opens! Be forewarned, this place is pricey--cocktails run $14-15 alone. As much as I enjoyed the experience and food at Joy District, I won't be likely to go back frequently because there are more wallet-friendly spots in the River North area with great food and cocktails. read more

Food wise everything was so dang good; except the tater tots. * Tuna Poke Cones get 5 stars. Just get this appetizer and enjoy! * Deviled Eggs get 5 stars. Hip hop hooray I had some damn good deviled eggs. * Fried Chicken (without the champagne) gets 4 stars. The chicken skin was crispy, while the meat was juicy. * Charred Chicken Bowl gets 4.5 stars. A semi-spicy dish that I absolutely loved; minus the slices of avocado that was a garnish on top. This dish is a decent portion size so you will definitely be full after eating this. * Salmon California Roll gets 4 stars. I didn't have any of this, but my friend said it was quality. So you have to take her word for it. * Tater Tots get 2 stars. Hate to say this, but these were a huge disappointment and the reason why I have Joy District 4 stars inside of 5. My friends and I visited Joy District last night for dinner, and WOW - the space is stunning. There is "mini chandelier" type lighting throughout the venue which looked really cool and also a BEAUTIFUL chandelier in the semi-private "cage" space we saw on the first level. I loved all the artwork - everything had kind of an 80's/90's vibe to it which I am super into. THE FOOD - holy smokes. We ordered the deviled eggs, tuna poke cones, smoked spare rib lollipops, truffle ricotta tortellini, and a banana split with candied bacon on top for dessert. The presentation of every dish was incredible, and it is obvious how much work they put into making sure everything is as close to perfection as possible. The chef even came by our table to ask us about our experience and our favorite dishes which was a nice touch. Our server (I forget her name...sorry!) was wonderful and super attentive throughout our meal. I ended up sticking around for drinks at the bar and didn't leave until after 1am, so obviously I really enjoyed myself. It definitely was not a cheap night by any means - a little pricey overall, but that can be expected from really any place in the River North area. I am looking forward to their second floor and rooftop opening up in the upcoming weeks. They of course have a neon sign to Instagram, these cool moving chandeliers, fat leather club chairs & sofas, and fun framed art along the wall. For dinner I wanted something small so I ordered the shrimp tempura roll, which was okay but not great... I feel that if you want to serve sushi at your restaurant it needs to be somewhat comparable to the amazing sushi places out there... For dessert were ordered the blueberry cake and I was super disappointed. The exterior of the 2 inch circle cake was dark, somewhat burnt looking, and so dry. My friend and I were like "we can make this better at home"... it came with lemon sorbet and whip cream but I did not even try it after taking a small bite of the cake........ BUT I will say the waitress came and asked how it was and after hearing about how we did not like it she took it off the bill, which was nice! Overall the dessert options lacked soft cake selections. There is no room to dance as they block off most of the space for private parties and tables so it's very tight in there. I had set my jacket down for one second and immediately another girl tried to take it and when i went to get it back from her, this girl started swinging and assaulted me in the club. She punched me in the face all within eye-line of security who watched it happen. When i tried to say something to security they told me i needed to calm down. Security is there to keep us safe and that is not what happened and for that you should not go to establishment that doesn't keep their clients safe!!! So in addition to being ridiculously overpriced, all the staff is unfriendly and trying to scam you for more money and doesn't keep you safe even though that's what they're there for. Corona Electric Beach threw parties at other great venues all last year and this was never an issue. So closer to a 3.5 but rounded up since it shows promise and hopefully just needs to work out a few of the just opened kinks... Fun space, has almost a 70s vibe in terms of design, but the music is a little schizo.... Staff was friendly (even the front of the house which isn't always the case in this neighborhood) although service was slow, probably exacerbated by the fact that we were pretty hungry.. Also was pretty chilly where we were, not sure if that was because the place is hard to heat with such high ceilings, if they were expecting it to be more packed so kept it cooler or if the wacky Chicago weather just threw them off, either way we were wearing our scarves throughout dinner... On to the food, really fun presentations and also pretty tasty... Had the tuna poke cones, flavorful with a wasabi kick and the waffle cone added an interesting crisp and barely sweet counterpoint. The tots were good, but served with regular ketchup- given the rest of the menu it seemed like a missed opportunity for a fun dipping sauce. Had the scallops with sweet pea risotto- good but not great... Scallops were well seasoned as was the risotto, but the risotto hadn't completely absorbed all the liquid so was a little soupy and the entire dish was just barely lukewarm... Pricey place but the portions are pretty sizeable (could have easily shared my entree) but does require some fine tuning on menu execution Would give it another try to check out the rest of the menu, hopefully next time it'll warrant a 4 star rating all on its own without the rounding... read more

On service I'd probably give less stars. Not too thrilled about our experience walking in, not a fan of our waiter, and kitchen forgot to send us a roll we ordered. Then they made advances that this could be over if we acted "right" repeatedly told them just scan them or call the cops - finally they scanned - all of a sudden had us in/free drinks. I've been to this place plenty of times! The Rooftop, The Bar, The Club, all are a great time. The bottom level is the bar area and they always have the game on with some beer. The middle level is the club which usually has a line unless you have a table. The rooftop is obviously at the top and has really cute decorations! Made reservations for Saturday night pretty last minute. I've been around this area before, and never stopped in, but I'm glad I did! The dining area is intimate and nicely decorated, and the drink service was prompt after quickly being seated. We had a couple of appetizers split amongst the four of us, with entrees ranging from burgers to seafood dishes, all were fantastic! We were all really happy with our food, and I'm excited to come back to try more cocktails and other dishes! Lastly, I have to talk about the service. Or server, Maybelline, knew that we have never been here before, and was super helpful and friendly. She explained how the appetizers could be split, and made sure that we were content for the whole service. She was so down-to-earth and friendly!
