I want to commend the staff at Joseph Volkswagen for being the only place that I trust to work on my car. Whether it's for a routine oil change or more extensive work, I know I am in good hands. The service team is timely, dependable, honest and incredibly kind. This is the only place I will take my car to have work done and I always recommend this location for anyone car shopping. And I feel this way because of the incredible staff and team. On Saturday morning, 5.30.2026 I was preparing to leave for a trip to Chicago and hit a pothole, leaving me with a flat tire. While waiting for AAA, I was in a panic and called the service department. I asked to speak to Reggie Foote as he has previously been extremely helpful. He confirmed that they had the tire in stock and assured me that if I could get the car to him by 11:30 AM, he would have a new tire put on my car. My encounter with AAA turned into quite the debacle as it took them several hours to fail at putting the spare on and then towed my car to Joseph Volkswagen. I arrived VERY close to the 11:30 AM cutoff. Reggie and his team agreed to stay past working hours to make sure the new tire was taken care of so I could get on the road. While waiting, manager Steve Gaddis and customer service rep Betty Jean Southall showed me incredible grace and kindness. After hearing about my ordeal, they offered me lunch and something to drink. From sales to service, the team at Joseph Volkswagen is the BEST and I am incredibly grateful to the kindness that they have shown me - every time I step into the building. This spot is good. They service the car well, but the price was higher than normal. They do a really good job explaining how it's serviced and why if they push extra servicing potentially being needed, just ask. They are super kind and the mechanic walked me through everything and the reasoning, and from there I made my decision on what needed to be serviced. The waiting room is standard, standard coffee machine, water cups and nice individual waiting chairs. The ambiance is quiet and well lit and staff is super friendly. read more

I've been bringing my cars here for almost 10 years. Bought two VWs, kept up with all my oil changes, warranty services, and spent thousands over the years. You'd think that kind of loyalty would count for something. Spoiler: it doesn't. Last year, they told me I needed a new coolant housing -- $1,800. Fast forward to this week: I bring my car in for a multi-point inspection, and suddenly there's nothing wrong. No mention of that major repair they said I needed. No mention of my burned-out headlight. No mention of my worn brakes or the oil leak I've been dealing with. When I pointed all this out, they tried to gaslight me -- until I pulled out 7 years of service records from their own shop, including the one where they diagnosed the coolant issue. So which is it? Were they lying then, or are they lying now? Either way, someone's not telling the truth, and that means customers are being scammed. I am disabled. i needed what turned out to be a new battery. I read up what they post and it said The average cost for a Volkswagen Beetle Battery Replacement is between $273 and $285. Labor costs are estimated between $45 and $57 while parts are typically priced around $228. This range does not include taxes and fees, I looked at the bill and I was charged 521 dollars for labor the battery cost 240.I am disabled and they charged me so much. What could be 520 labor. It is nothing more then trying to charge as much as they can. I am so shocked by this. Joseph Volkswagen in Cincinnati are money hungry it should be illegal. I feel like this is almost discrimination he thinks I am stupid and can mark the price up.I dont have a photo but the owner of joseph Volkswagen should be able to explain and the billing says labor 520 part meaning the battery was 240 tax was 59 total 821.41. They scratched up the glass that covers a headlight and said they didn't do that. I have had the car for 2 years he saw it once. I made an inquire via the internet with the internet manager Suzanne, to assist my best friend with a car purchase. We made the arrangements all on line via email. We then made arrangements to come in and look at a new beetle convertible. Suzanne is the Internet manager, not a salesperson, but you would never know it. She was one of the best salespeople I have ever had the chance to work with. She was polite and didn't try to oversell the car. She made everything very smooth and easy. I would highly recommend the dealership, but mostly Suzanne who if she stays the same fun person, could very well be one of the best salespeople ever. I bought a brand new Jetta here and the oil overfill light was on. They wouldn't take care of it right away and I had to take a day off to bring it back. I waited for it but their service dept is a pit. No coffee, no nothing. I got my car back and the light came back on. I called and they told me to leave a message. That was 2 weeks ago. No one has callled me back still. I didn't get the second key for my car but they said they would call me when they found it. Guess what? No call. Drove back down there one day to get a second key and they told me they will have to order it. I was told another salesman had the key and then after going there in person to get it, I was told they would have to order me another one because it was lost. They never called me and told me that it was there. Next, it has been a month and I still haven't received my payment info, account number or any info in the mail. Called Joseph again and was told that they sent my payment info and title info to the wrong address. It has been a month and now I learn that my first payment is over due and I am going to get a late charge because of this dealership not doing what they are supposed to do. Is this the first time they have done finance paperwork??! Every time I call, they sound put out that I'm bothering them. I called the title lady and found out they mailed the paperwork to the wrong address for VW Credit and now they have to redo the title. We are leaving for Alaska tomorrow to get the vehicles registered where we live and we have no paperwork after a month. I called to see if I could get a copy so we could get the plates. "Nope". They don't care that their inability to do their jobs just cost me over $1000 because we have booked a trip to take care of business on the car and we can't move the trip and we can't register the car now either. This dealership is inept in every aspect. I will never go there again nor recommend this business unless someone just wants to go there and sit in a less than warm service dept that doesn't even have a working coffee machine. It is a pit. I wanted to give them a 0 but it wasn't an option! read more

In the car buying process, you'll constantly hear dealers say "we want to earn your business." At Joseph they really, really worked to earn mine! I really ran them through the ringer -- I had them price several models in many different scenarios over the course of a couple of months. I drug my feet, price checked them, and frequently changed my mind. My salesman, Mike (who was awesome) never pressured me. I think I worked with just about everyone at the dealership, from the General Manager on down. Everyone worked to make me happy. Joseph Volkswagen is located in the middle of what you could compare to Mos Eisley Spaceport. And rightfully so. It's amazing how I can deny an expensive service, then bring it back for that service only to be told that they re-diagnosed it and I need a different service that's 3x the original quote. Then after explaining to them that I don't have the money for that, they ran my car completely out of diesel. Miles to go: 0. I've never seen that before. It was not that low when I had it towed over. Common courtesy, though, would have been to add a little bit to the tank ($5-6) so the customer (who has already spent thousands of dollars with you) can get from point a to the nearest shady filling station - assuring that the customer will come back when they need a service. Not here. You'll be treated like a second-class citizen at the desk. Only one person out of 5 will be checking people out. I did not think I needed to be charged for a second diagnosis, since I brought it in for a service inwhich a diagnosis was already paid for. I would have argued this with the person checking me out but they had already made a comment to another employee, "what are they gonna do, fire me?". Lord have mercy. I'll never spend money at a Joseph facility ever again. Not that it matters to them. I am going to go through the reporting process that another person on here suggested. read more

Let me explain: Usually I get my car serviced at King's but I figured: why not try to keep it more local and save a drive by going to Northland/Joseph VW instead. HUGE MISTAKE. First, in setting up a service appointment, I had given all of my information, VIN number etc. This was all lost somewhere by the time I got there. When I showed up: 1. The location is dirty. Not the average mechanic type of dirty: full on falling apart and needing a renovation, papers everywhere, dirty floors: not professional. 2. I was greeted by the most disrespectful and surly member of staff. It was the early morning (ahem,... 10 am) so we can try to blame it on that. His attitude and lack of customer service skills were so awkward and rude I would go as far as to say it seemed hostile. Overall, this was the worst part of the experience. 3. I was told that the service (an oil change and tire rotations) would take "hours" and that "you'll be waiting here with us." So I walked out - and immediately got an appointment at Kings. The service took 45 mins, I was greeted and treated respectfully, the location was clean and had free coffee. I hate Kings because it is so far away, but it seems to be the only option at this point. Honestly, even though this location is close I would NEVER go to Northland/Joseph again. They should be ashamed of their customer service and should really have training to treat every one of their customers with respect. read more

I had to bring my Tiguan in for a water leak coming through the sunroof, and not knowing what was going on or how long the service dpt. would need to keep it, at the last minute before I needed to drop it off, I asked to get a loaner. I spoke with Reggie and he was beyond pleasant and got me in a loaner right away even with the shop being almost closed. I've been driving VW's for over 20 years (2 Cabriolets and now a Beetle) and I've always had them serviced at Joseph (formerly Northland). The dealership is very basic but they are easy to work with and really know VW's. The waiting room is very small, about 7 hard plastic chairs, a TV and a few magazines. If there wasn't a window in there, you may lose your mind. I like that they have evening hours a few days a week, makes it easy to slip in for an oil change after work. When I worked downtown, they were more than happy to shuttle me back and forth while my car was being serviced. The same employees (at least up front) have been there for many years and are very helpful, they've seen it all. My only real gripe is that I wish they had on-line scheduling that was real time. The system lets you "book" on-line, but someone still has to call you to confirm. read more

I was very particular about the kind of car I wanted and knew there were not very many cars that fit my description. Recently, my 2005 Passat's "Check Engine" illuminated. I brought the car to Northland VW where they diagnosed the problem as a faulty engine thermostat. Given that I already had 90k miles on the car, Northland recommended that I replace my timing belt. I agreed and the service was completed at a cost of $1,200. As part of the timing belt replacement, they found a leaking water pump and replaced it as well. I picked up the car that evening and, only 5 minutes after leaving the dealership, the "check engine" light came on again. Immediately, I returned to the dealership where they connected their diagnostic PC to my car and determined that another part needed to be repaired. This took 15 minutes and I was on my way at no additional cost. On the way home, I noticed that the cabin temperature was not warming up (two of the major parts involved in car heating are the water pump and the thermostat). I took the car back the following day and they repaired it at no additional cost. Within a week, the heat was out again. I took it back and again they repaired it at no addition cost. I never got a clear reason as to why it wasn't working. It has been a week and the heat seems to be working. Northland's service agents are very pleasant and it isn't costing me anything other than time to drop off the car. I'm more concerned with the expertise of the technician mechanics. We'll see how it goes. read more

My experience here was fine, but nothing above and beyond. I typically take my VW to Beechmont, but this is closer to work. I scheduled a 20k service online, which was nice (or so I thought) because it also showed the price. When I arrived to drop off my car, I was told they had my appointment but didn't know why I was bringing in my car. According to the guy at the service desk, he said it doesn't fully register the appointment online and it's best to call. They managed to finish my car even before my scheduled appointment time. Pickup and paying were easy. My car seems to be in great shape after the service and I wouldn't have any reservations about going back. I guess my slight disappointment comes from the fact that they didn't vacuum out my floorboards or run my car through the car wash. I know this isn't required and it's not something I paid for, but I guess that's why I drive out of my way to Beechmont. read more

I made an appointment two weeks ago online for an oil change for my wife's Tiguan. I arrived shortly after they opened. They didn't have my appointment on the books; apparently their online system doesn't communicate with their scheduling. However, they were still able to get my oil change done while I waited. A minor safety recall was also performed while I waited. Total took about 45 minutes. The waiting room is small, with 6 chairs, a TV, some magazines and basic beverages available. It was empty other than myself and 1 other person while I waited. They do offer a shuttle service which I did not inquire about. I should also add that I leased the vehicle from this dealership, and had a great experience. I came in knowing what I wanted and what my price was, and signed papers an hour or two later, and picked up the car the following day. read more

A very low-pressure sale and pretty easy to negotiate a fair deal on both our trade-in and new purchase. We worked with Cinda Oser and she went out of her way to help us find the exact car we wanted, since their stock on the Tiguan was somewhat limited. I'd definitely recommend them if you're shopping for a VW. These folks are friendly and the service is quick. They also know a bit about TDIs, which is unusual and, of course, very important to me. Also, I know enough about my unusual car to know when I'm being f-ed over at a car place because of my two x chromosomes, and I haven't felt that way here. They also have a waiting room full of entertaining stuff-- good for watching my nephew while I'm waiting. They also offer a computer and phone. If I end up getting a new TDI, I will certainly go here (the place on Colerain where I bought my car did f me over before I knew how my car works). - 1 for dealership prices & not being anywhere near as awesome as Jon Hamilton from Jon's Auto near Columbus. read more

I have never wanted to leave a bad review but after 2 conversations where the service manager has argued and lied to me here I am! This place will lie to you, they will take your money when things are covered under warranty, they will try and put the blame on everyone but themselves. my car was there for almost 3 weeks had gotten the car out of the shop after a week only for the check engine light to come right back on the next day after 700 dollars in repairs. I had to pay for a rental car because they didn't know what was wrong with my car and I couldn't take theirs out of town even though come to find out their loaner cars are supposed to stay in Cincinnati and I live in Indiana.i just want my money back for a part that was covered under warranty that they lied about and they will not even do that. read more

I've just had one of the worst service experiences of my life. I've been to this dealer before for service on my 2010 GTI because it is under warranty and this is the closest service location to me. My car needed a part replaced that was covered under the powertrain warranty - basically, something that should not have been broken. They had my car for four days and returned it fixed. Not quick by any means, definitely in line with my expectations based on previous experience here. I casually filled out the survey honestly - rating them a 3/10 on length of time to service. Hours later I received a call from an incredulous technician angrily demanding an explanation for my rating. Sensing his anger, I said "I'm happy to tell you why, but it doesn't sound like you're really curious as to why" and offered my explanation. Still unhappy with the situation, he told me not to return to them for service. This violates any semblance of privacy I thought I had in filling out the survey honestly, rubbed me completely the wrong way on this dealer, and honestly, I think if I'm covered under warranty, he can't even refuse to service my car! Bottom Line: I will not ever be tied to this dealership again. I'll gladly take my car across the street to the trustworthy mechanics at Auto4N. read more

This place sucks. The service managers will play you like a violin if you don't know much about cars. I asked the service advisor how much it would cost to put a fuel pump in my 1988 Jetta and he never got me a price then tried to get me to replace brand new windshield wipers on my 2017 hit that I had replaced a week before. He priced me out tires THAT WERE NOT THE RIGHT SIZE THEN TOLD ME THE TIRES I HAD WOULDNT FIT. So... so why did my wheels and tires fit just fine the winter before? I only come to the dealership for the "free" oil changes but not one has been free. This place pisses me off so bad it makes me hate Volkswagen. I obviously love Volkswagen or I wouldn't own one. I was having electrical issues with my 2017 gti and the service manager never documented my file correctly it was under " miscellaneous" charges so when I contacted Volkswagen USA about being charged for issues and it not getting fixed they said I would have to PAY (again) for it to get fixed because my warranty has run out (after I already paid) and then they MIGHT refund the money. I have been using Northland/Joseph VW for years and generally I have a good experience. I do not know if the transition from the "Northland" to "Joseph" name has anything to do with it but the past couple of visits have been on the "meh" side. On my last visit I discovered that, though the work I needed done was complete and satisfactory, my key had been deprogrammed and my trunk (which contained personal belongings that were thankfully still there) had been left open! It isn't the end of the world but these are the little things that make one question whether the maintenance crew is well-staffed/experienced enough to keep an eye on the details. read more

In may of 2010 I had a timing chain replaced here on my 2005 jetta with 56,000 miles on it. Now less than two years later (also out of warranty) at 88,000 miles my check engine light comes on. So I take it to northland again and leave it overnight just to have them tell me that it needs another timing chain, a $1,400 repair! Timing chains should last well over 100k miles and I am now on my second. The dealership must have preformed a faulty repair and will not own up to it leaving me with a massive repair bill. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy!!! Beware! read more

Joseph Volkswagen sheared off a bolt on my oil pan, slopped some silicone on their error, failed to tell me about it and when I discovered it and confronted them, they said that since it doesn't leak, it would cost me $250 to fix their mistake. While I bought by CC at another dealership, I have gotten by it (and my last car) serviced at Northland. While Kerry VW in Florence has inconvenient service hours, Northland has some evening hours and a shuttle. I just wish that they would wash and vacuum my car, which is what other dealers would do for a similarly priced car. read more
