I don't think I've had a meal this perfect since Atomix. This place was originally Joomak Banjum, master of sweet and savory. They have since moved locations (becoming Joomak), and the chef has really refined and elevated his menu to the finest possible level. Every dish was absolute perfection. And the chef used preparation methods I did not know were possible and the combination of flavors was so meticulous and mind-blowing. And the ingredients were so well-chosen. There was never a flavor that felt too heavy or strong, and there was always another element of the dish that perfectly complemented and balanced the star flavors. The amuse bouche with the A5 wagyu tartare and Hokkaido uni was creamy heaven. The caviar with dill custard, white asparagus, and mussels were the perfect combination of salty, creamy, tender, umami. The pretzel croissant with a mustard butter/cream was an amazing mix of sweet and salty and creamy. My favorite dish was the scallop with a truffle and brown butter cream - so rich and decadent but balanced by the subtly sweet and crunchy bite of jicama. The king crab was cooked perfectly and so delectable in the kani miso rice. The dessert was one of the best and most surprising desserts I've ever had - banana pudding but with the most amazing sorbet and cream and the chocolate tuile is actually made of bananas . Ending the meal with an amazing sojacha tea was a perfect ending to a perfect meal. To top this off, the service was unbelievably good and the ambiance of this new location is so cozy and homey, I like it so much more than the previous location. The servers and chef were all so welcoming and I really appreciate them chatting with me about the dishes and geeking out over food. It was so fun learning about the ingredients and preparation of each dish.

Joomak finally reopened on West Street after closing its first Michelin starred location on 5th Ave. Living room feel like ambiance of dining area makes us feel home, especially seated right next to fire place. Started off with Champagne and Amuse Bouche, three small bites of King Salmon Everything Bagel, Choux a la Otoro, A5 Wagyu & Hokkaido Uni Sando. These were powerfully impressive introduction of brief hint to the 8 course dinner that would be spread out through the night. While the lingering tastes from the significant starters, Caviar (I loved it!) to be followed by pretzel croissant continued to lead us to a joy ride. Next four courses were seafoods respectively Amadai, Scallop, Langostine and Norwegian King Crab. Apple dongchimj perfectly balanced with whitefish amadai with the slight aroma of bail. Smoked dashi (broth) panna cotta with creamy silky seared scallop was plated to look like an island with the full of sea flavors. And the fresh tangy langostine with Korean interpreted bouillabaisse as spicy fish stew seemed purely simple but the taste was complex in delightfulness. By now, we moved on to the bottle of red burgundy for crackling fun dish of Norwegian King Crab. Wasn't easy to break the seasoned chip with the knife yet got the flavors of seasonings inside the chip, Duck Brest for me and my friend had Surf and Turf. Duck breast was phenomenal holding the juice in perfect tenderness. Ended the dinner with Banana Bread Pudding and Mango Sorbet. As a least dessert person, would rather have cheese as my dessert option, however these were NOT too sweet or rich that leave heaviness aftertaste after exquisite delicate course. So in facts, I did enjoy both of desserts at Joomak! It's a bit far out from midtown where I live but it's worth the trip! Bravo Chef Jiho! Remarkable! Thank you and your culinary team for the great hospitality!

Ambiance: This place has a nice ambiance, definitely very "New York" -- dark (you can't see how dirty the floor is) and loud music (maybe too loud). We sat upstairs (we had a reservation) and of all the people on the top there was a party of 4 (us), a party of 8 (all dudes celebrating something) and the rest of the tables were on a DATE - which I thought was funny. Service: We were served by Ann-Marie who was so delightful. She was kind, super nice, and took the time to speak to us (which is basically how we figured out she wasn't a native New York City person). She gave us good food suggestions and we were very happy with our selection. Food: Here is what we ordered * Steak Frites: My two boys got the steak frites and I have to say the steak was awesome! I had a bite of each of theirs and they each ordered it differently (one Medium Rare/Medium and one Medium) and they both were prepared PERFECTLY. The fries were overflowing. * Caeser Salad with Salmon: My wife got the salad with Salmon (they only have a few salad options) and she enjoyed it. * Prawn and Crab Risotto: I got this and I have to say it was VERY bland. I wouldn't get this if you are looking for taste. I had to put salt and pepper on it to make it have any semblance of taste. Value/Price: I would say this is not over priced but it is not cheap either...bill is attached. I would recommend it to folks who are looking for a good place to either go out on a date or a family type meal.

The…read morepull apart truffle monkey bread was our initial reason for coming, and although the price point was quite steep, I would say it's worth the try. The bread was fluffy and not dry, which I had seen previous reviews say before. Paired with the creamy truffle butter, it had a luxurious mouthfeel. My favorite was the pork chop (cognac, sweet prunes, bacon, rosemary) -- the sweet and soft texture of the prune was melted in my mouth like fat, and the pork was tender, with the rosemary also coming through. The vodka rigatoni was a skip, somewhat bland and one-note, we ended up putting some of the truffle butter and garlic aioli from the fries to make it more flavorful. This was especially in contrast with the spicy shrimp pasta which was much tastier. Also got the strawberry vacherin (strawberry ice cream, meringue, vanilla whipped cream), it was my first time having this dessert. The tartness of the strawberry was great with the fluffy meringue and the sweet ice cream. Service was extremely attentive, and the restaurant is beautifully decorated with moody lighting. Although the space was packed, it didn't feel too loud or crowded. We spent about two hours and didn't feel rushed.

The dining room always felt buzzy and fashionable, but the food, service, and overall execution kept the place grounded in something more durable than hype. Its pinwheel lasagna is outrageously good and easily one of the signature dishes I associate with modern New York dining. I also distinctly remember the Chrysanthemum Salad, buried under what feels like an unreasonable and therefore perfect amount of shaved Parmesan. Both dishes capture what Don Angie does so well: familiar Italian American food made inventive without losing the basic pleasure that made people love it in the first place. Combined with excellent service and a prime West Village location, Don Angie has always struck me as a restaurant that became a phenomenon without letting the quality benchmark slip.

Luckily, I was by myself, which gave me some wiggle room to grab a seat at the bar. The seating was quite tight, and I was sandwiched between two other people; however, I knew I was lucky just to get a seat. Once I sat down, I was quickly served water. I already knew I wanted the double cheeseburger with bacon and egg, so it didn't take me long to place my order. I definitely enjoyed sitting at the bar because the restaurant has an open-kitchen concept. You can watch the chefs prepare the food, which is always enjoyable for me. The burger itself was definitely an experience! It was beautifully presented, and everything was cooked to perfection. Honorable mention goes to the pepper on the thick-cut bacon- it added a nice savory kick to the burger. I had really been looking forward to trying it because I recently passed by Au Cheval in Chicago, but the wait was extremely long, so I didn't get the chance to go. This burger was definitely good. It's not at the top of my list, but it was worth the experience. I must say, it's also extremely high-end price-wise. For just the burger with bacon and egg, plus tax and tip, I paid about $47. Again, it was a treat, but not necessarily one I'd order again. I'd love to try some of the city's other standout burgers before returning for this one. Would I recommend it? Absolutely! Would I return? Sure, but I would probably try something other than the burger next time.

We reserved for a quick bite at Redeye Grill before catching Dog Day Afternoon on Broadway, but as soon as we walked up, some bouncer told us they were closed for a private wedding reception. We were dazed and confused because how was I able to reserve online? But the real plot twist was that it ended up being the best thing that happened. We actually stumbled into Tanner Smith's thinking it'd be the typical, boring bar-food spot. Nope. They first sat us at a hi-top by the door, but that wasn't our vibe, so we grabbed seats at the bar instead. Best decision. Our bartender, Josiah, was absolutely killing it. My cocktail had passion fruit, so of course I asked my usual question: "But is it real passion fruit?" He just nodded in agreement and that told me everything I needed to know. That drink was legit and had nice strength. The food was great too. The shepherd's pie is insanely salty and it's very off-putting. It was inedible. I was looking forward to having it but I would not in good faith recommend this to anyone. The buttermilk tenders is supposed to come with pickled shallots and marinated green beans. We didn't get the pickled shallots or the marinated green beans, which was a shame. The chicken tenders by themselves didn't have much flavor. It also is unfortunate paying $17 for what was considered a small plate and just getting the chicken tenders. The Asian-sesame wings were okay. Also, didn't have much flavor and weren't that impressive. There was also still hair on some of the pieces of chicken, so the chicken could have been cleaned better. They have fries and hand cut fries. The regular fries were soggy. Should have went with the hand cut fries. The tater tots were okay. I was told that the chicken sandwich was good. It came with a little side of rustic chips. I would not come back for the food but I would possibly go back to try a drink if I was in the area. The drink menu looked pretty good.
