Our project was major repairs to our house from a tree strike. Crase Construction did a good job working with the insurance company, the engineers and the County. The County was the toughest part. They wanted unnecessary changes to the structure but Crase was able to convince them, using their own code, to let us rebuild "like for like", with upgrades that we wanted. We did not have to deal with the County; Crase pursued it all the way, for months after our final check to them was paid. Jon Crase and all of his employees are trustworthy and likable. I would recommend Crase to anyone. read more

Context: My personal experience in assisting my neighbor who is a senior (81 years old) with a house repair from a car accident /collision impact to the front right side of his home with foundation/structural damage. First off Matt H. and his team are the epitome of professionalism. He communicated clearly and returned calls/emails promptly and succinctly. He also displayed a great degree of patience in hearing, listening and understanding the owners' concerns, questions and requests. In addition, Matt articulated things in a way that made sense to the owner and helped ameliorate the process. The workmanship and material were excellent. This is especially apparent in the foundation wall, pier block footing and stucco/painting matching. All the proper safety measures were taken and at the end of each workday the area was cleaned and contained as possible. He said he used to work for farmers Insurance as an adjuster. he and I had a conversation about my home rebuild which had been impacted by catastrophe (a informational convo only)and my insurance is invloved with me to cover the catastrophe. Eric whent out of his way to contact my assigned adjuster with out transparency of letting me know this, which didn't sit with me well. My grandma used this company to rebuild her condo after it was burned down. The insurance policy through the HOA was difficult and delaying her home (over 6 months at a stand still), but the second Matt was assigned to the our project, we began to quickly see things take off. Wow what a very bad experience I had with one there estimators. I started the process of a master bathroom remodel due to water damage. After receiving the quote and agreement to sign. They wanted me to sign it pushing me stating you have 5 days to rescind. The problem with that is we did not have the quote from the insurance company on how much they were going to pay. I asked that they send me the agreement via softcopy I had a few questions that were in the agreement. I shared the agreement with a friend Director of Facilities at a Large Corporation and asked to review the agreement since he deals with contractors all the time. He asked me to get clarification on the questions below. The bottom line is do not trust a company who does not want to do business with you when you question their bias agreement. From Estimator. I had damage to my garage from a massive eucalyptus tree that came down in the big windstorm in March. I was referred to Crase by a local builder. The estimator arrived promptly and submitted a bid that was both very detailed (several pages) and priced competitively. Communication with the office was efficient and easy. The bid linked milestones to payments very reasonably. The crew they sent was professional and pleasant. I found them very easy to work with, receptive to my requests and courteous. The work was done in a reasonable time frame with good quality workmanship. Toward the end I was sent a notice that they needed to revise my bid. I expected some additional costs, but they actually reduced the bid by $1100 and took it off my final payment! I was highly impressed with their honesty, as they could easily have just left it and I never would have known. I am very happy with the work and the team. We were referred to these guys through our insurance company. After a recent unattended death with a family member the whole bathroom needed to be remodeled. Since the house was vacant they took their sweet ass time (4 months) for a tiny bathroom. $15,000 later we got the cheapest linoleum, a cheap new vanity, marble shower with glass doors AND the best part was they reinstalled the crusty, moldy toilet our uncle died on with dried maggots still intact and told us that it's porcelain and we can clean it ourselves. We requested a new toilet and they told us that would cost an extra $100. Also this price did not include new fixtures i.e. towel bars new medicine cabinets, toilet paper holder. We were told we had to pick out those items and that's why they didn't put them in. We feel they took advantage of us because our insurance was paying for some of it. We also got a second opinion and were told we were overcharged for the lowest quality work and materials. We recently redid the other bathroom (NOT through Crase) for $3,000 using high quality materials like tile and granite. Beware of this place. Be scared. Be warned! read more

This company is shady and does not stand behind their work. I did a bathroom remodel and they kept old hardware on new install and said it "should work' left me with a shower not working due to leaving old parts on that did not work with new shower hardware that I purchased. Shower stopped working right after they did a temporary cover up knowing it was wrong and wouldn't work. They just did a temporary fix telling me the parts were not to work together (and he didn't have the correct tool) knowing it wouldn't work and did a temporary shortcut on the installation and left. I sent emails, phone calls only for them to tell me it's not their problem. I then had to pay another plumber $575.00 to fix the work they did and the new plumber, I paid, said they (Crase Construction) really messed it up. They will take advantage of you beware. I also paid to have a new bathroom door installed and with the installation my sheet rock and paint were majorly damaged around the door. Do NOT use this company. read more

I would have to agree with these other reviewers. I did not even end up getting work done by them (long story of getting an accurate estimate from them below) We had a flood in our second bathroom of a 2 BR condo. So the entire bathroom and carpet in the hallway near the bathroom had to be torn out. Our nieghbor decided to use Crase and we interviewed them and another contractor. Initially our estimator came right on time, very personable, and professional. Thought everything would be great. We got an initial quote, whoa! this is a great price and less than some of the other contracts. Then.... hold your horses: 1.) Carpet - initially gave us a pretty low quote, much cheaper than S&G carpet. Made us wonder if this included everything like carpet pad, and tear and haul away of our old carpet. I e-mail them to verify this is the quote for XYZ carpet to make sure. Oh, you wanted that carpet? That's another $2K. Sorry I must have been unclear when the estimator came and I told him we want this specific type of carpet or something of comprable quality. Apparently that's confusing. He quoted me what our insurance was reimbursing us for the carpet we had. OK... that means we would have a worse carpet installed in our condo. (if you never had to go through this your insurance co. will depreciate the value of your carpet based on age and its condition. Ours had several years of use) Sounds like a good plan, I want crappy carpet in my condo! They try to remedy the situation by showing us some carpet in the price range we were looking for per sq. foot. The carpet was really low quality and ugly! I don't understand how this carpet you're showing me can be the same price as the stores I looked at for the same price? 2.) OK, I don't want you to do carpet, but I need you to do everything else. A little tile, a little dry wall, bathroom floor replacement, put everything back in the toilet, a little painting, etc. Oh, so we're now going to charge you a minimum for doing the bathroom floor since you're not doing carpet. That'll increase your previous quote for that by 50%. Plus, I'm going to mysteriously charge you another 50% more for the dry wall. All of which adds up to several hundred dollars. BTW, they did not mention the magic dry wall increase in my revised quote. I think they thought I wouldn't notice. When I questioned him on the quote, they said they'd get back to me with a revised quote. 1 1/2 weeks and 3 to 4 phone calls later I somehow magically do not have a quote. Stay away from these guys. Very unprofessional and they try to rip you off. Wasted 3 weeks trying to work through the quote with them, and now have to start my contractor search back over. read more

I couldn't be more pleased with Crase. I had a fire in the condo balcony so the sliding glass door had to be replaced, stucco wall repaired, and balcony repainted. The way Crase works is there's an Estimator who comes out first and gives an estimate. A project manager who comes next and schedules the sub-contractors to come in and finish the job in pieces. They also contacted the insurance adjustor to revise the estimate. The Crase guys are all intelligent and personable. They know everything and do everything properly, and deal with the customer politely. I was happy with their chosen subcontractors as well, who were bilingual and spoke English well. They worked quickly and professionally. Crase is the best experience I've had with a contractor to date. If you want worry-free repairs done, these are your guys. We could not be more pleased with the work done in our kitchen by Crase Construction. Our insurance company sent them to us when our kitchen flooded and needed to be redone. To be honest, we were nervous about not knowing them- but we were delightfully surprised from the beginning. Right away we were impressed by their professionalism and knowledge. Everyone we met associated with the company was kind and helpful. I felt like we were listened to (which is not something I can say for many companies) and respected. With some of the other companies that had been sent to us for this kitchen disaster (restoration, etc) we never heard a word from them- but that was not the case with Crase. I work for a Property Management company and we had a fire in one of our units. The insurance company recommended Jon R. Crase Construction. We have been SO impressed with their level of service, their speed of response, and the finished product. They sent the BEST project manager I could have asked for (Ryan Jurian) and he walked us through EVERY step of the process, from the first day with the boarding of windows, the permits, the Haz mat disposal (sheetrock) and the testing for contamination, the complete demolition, and finally the rebuilding and finishing of the unit. The finished product was BETTER than before the fire and our experience was EXCELLENT from START to FINISH. Ryan communicated throughout the process. We always knew what was happening and where things stood. They gave us the opportunity to select products, so that the paint color, the carpet color, counter tops, cabinets--all details were OUR choice. Renee at Crase Construction company was suppose to take care of the restoration in my grandparents 2nd home. They assured my grandparents they would draw up a contract before the process began. Weeks go by and no followup. My grandma reached out to them and they assured her they sent over a contract to the insurance company. Insurance company has no records of any calls or paperwork. They call Crase again and Crase advised everything was on track and they will get back to them. Weeks pass and no one has reached with an update or to simply tell them they are going to "pass" on this job. So infuriating and frustrating. I am living in this home and the repairs are way past due. I do not recommend them for their lack of follow through and professionalism. We are going with a different Construction company. read more

I coudln't give Crase a higher recommendation. They were absolutely awesome, from start to finish. Our house burned to the ground...literally...in 2014. After living there since 1963, my 85 year old mother had hired another contractor - American Technologies - and after 6 months had no contract & nothing had been done. (Avoid ATI at ALL costs). I got involved, got rid of ATI & asked Crase if they'd be interested in giving us a bid, since they were already doing the house next door. The estimator, Eric Sullivan, provided a quote quickly, & they got started right away. They really stepped up & did an amazing job. The house was an Eichler, which has some challenging aspects not found in 'normal' houses, and the results are beautiful. Not only did they come in 6 months late, in late November, they finished on time & budget. We were back in the house July 4th. The PM, John Conti, kept us informed daily on the progress, questions & concerns were resolved immediately, changes we'd made after the fact didn't delay or change costs. They even suggested some improvements to the plans along the way. The few minor disputes I had were settled quickly & fairly. Everyone at Crase - from the office staff to Jon, the owner - was professional, reliable & extremely helpful, above & beyond what I'd expect from any Contractor. The quality of their work - and the results - are amazing. The house is beautiful, down to the last detail. Better than it was brand new. And they still answer questions & concerns quickly - regardless of how stupid or unrelated to their work those questions may be. read more

We hired Crase construction in 2012 to rebuild a duplex that had major fire damage. They did an awesome job and kept ontime and on budget. We recently decided to sell the property and had an issue with the HVAC unit not being installed properly. I contacted Crase and they got back to me the same day and came out to see the issue. I used Crase construction because of a recommendation from my insurance company. I felt rushed during the entire project, it took longer than expected and small details were overlooked such as installing bathroom hardware. For several thousands of dollars, i shouldn't have had to install towl bars, mirrors and paper holders myself. The quality of the work was good, but overpriced. A contractor working on the house next to mine said there was no way a bathroom remodel should cost as much as I paid. I feel i was overcharged due to the fact that the insurance company was paying for part of the project. The estimate was no where close to what the final cost was. We had Crase Construction redo 2 bathrooms for us and could not be happier - the project came in on budget and on time, and I felt that I was apprised of every change-order, modification and "issue" that came up. When the team discovered that we had an issue with termites Jon helped me determine the most cost-effective and productive way to deal with it - I felt that everyone from our project manager, Steve, down to the workers that were in my home were informative, polite and friendly. I am blown away by the review by Lisa F: but if she redid a complete bathroom for $3,000 I think her expectations were different than mine. Things like toilet pepr holders were not included in my bid either - but I was told up-front that if chose to buy the items the team would make sure they were all installed an in working order.....and they were (including a mirror that took an act of God to hold up and install in one of the bathrooms). Finally, I have to admit that I really wasn't 100% sure of what I wanted with respect to paint etc: Crase Construction helped me make decisions, brought by several shades of paint and put them on the walls for me to decide my preference and even returned and replaced towel bars I decided I didn't like.
