There's an old adage, "Never let a contractor get ahead of you on the money." I got a bid from GPI Builders for 2 bathrooms to be remodeled. Their bid required me to put up 34% of the contract price on day one. Needless to say, I did not go with them. Revision: I previously gave GPI 5 stars but after using System Pavers for another project I had to move them down. System pavers did a much higher quality work. They were the ultimate in every way. I love our patio GPI did as well but they did not make it as big as we agreed upon and left 2 sides with massive amounts of cement oozing out. To the point I had to call them to fix it. I can't help noticing this company is getting many excellent reviews. I never thought about leaving a review because thinking having a neutral score is better than having a bad score. I was their a 2-year old customer and contracted for an over $300k renovation. Problems started appearing to eyes within a year, especially with the debris in the crawl space and a chipping paint over the large beam in the living room. Tonight, the shower handle fell out suddenly, and it was noticed never got screwed in at all. I really felt I got apprentice work quality with sloppiness. read more

My bathroom consisted of me making the shower wider, adding new flooring because it was completely out dated and cheap, replacing a window for a bigger window and making it look a lot more modern overall. They were very professional, flexible and communicative they were available to help with any questions and concerns at any time. We had a concrete driveway that was in serious disrepair, cracks with weeds growing through it and rust stains coming up from the rebar within it. Underneath the driveway we also had a sewer pipe that was cast iron with tree roots growing in it causing clogs that needed to be replaced. We were looking for a contractor who could handle both jobs. We asked for quotes from other paver companies who either were hesitant to have to hire a plumber to do the pipe replacement, and another contractor who wasn't a plumber but wanted to do the work himself anyway. We didn't feel comfortable with either of those options so we decided to go with GPI Builders who not only had professional pavers but also plumbers on their staff. The pipe was replaced and the driveway pavers were installed in exactly one week. They even painted a concrete retaining wall along the side of the driveway in that time.
