Working with Steve and Zach on the design and material sourcing as well as their entire team was a pleasure throughout the entire job. They estimated approximately 1 month but completed the job in 3 weeks! All of their teams for each phase of the project are very specialized and cover every (and even minor) details. They sent a specialized team for the demo, plumbing (re-routing of old plumbing was required), electrical, tile installation, drywall, painting, and vanity/accessory installations. All of the teams were very professional and a pleasure to work with, and they picked up all the materials for me from the suppliers as well as cleanup of everything after each workday. We had eight windows replaced as well as various spots of dry rot repaired on the exterior of our house. The owners, Steve and Zach, were conscientious and professional from our very first meeting, and throughout the entire project. Martin, the Project Manager, and the construction team were always on time or early, highly skilled, as well as professional and personable. Of course with any type of construction project problems arise once a wall is opened up. Whenever a problem was discovered, we were immediately informed and asked for approval before remediation was implemented. The final work included painting and touch up. S&S recently completed a rebuild of large portions of our home, following a mold remediation. Having done this once before, we were scarred by dealing with a contractor who was full of excuses, and less than respectful. From our very first interaction with Steve and Zach, this was a whole different ballgame. Every single thing we asked for, they delivered. They were extremely professional and communicative, calm under pressure, and always made us feel like we were in capable hands. They took away so much stress, I really was able to sit back and let them handle everything. We asked for a lot of specifics in terms of using non-toxic materials, and they went out of their way to source them, always running everything by me for approval, and then providing oversight to any subcontractors to be sure they actually used what we requested. They are respectful at all times--no "mansplaining" ever, and they treated me the same way they did my electrician husband, as equals. Their pricing is totally transparent, without any flat fees that leave you wondering. And the final product is impeccable and lovely. These guys could not have been better to work with. They replaced everything except the toilet (it was pretty new) and the cabinets; new tub, tub shower tile, tile floor, window, overhead light. (and water damage repair from under the old window and shower wall). We had the cabinets painted and they brought in a designer to help pick the color, she was great and and they came out perfect. I had picked a special tile for the inside of the shower niche but Steve suggested we do the entire wall to the ceiling in it which at first I wasn't so sure about. But I saw a sample of a wall to the ceiling in an accent tile (at a tile place they recommended) and liked it so I went with Steve's idea and I just love it! They suggested quartz for the vanity and also used the quartz for the niche shelves which also came out great! They also were always on time and cleaned up very very nicely as they went along. They always responded to texts and emails right away/ Things could not have gone better working with Steve and Zack (and ALL their subs) and I very highly recommend them. I had a gut feeling about them the first time they came by to check on a shower leak we had and I'm so glad we picked them! You just can't go wrong! read more

I could not be more pleased with S&S's renovation of our primary bath. Steve and Zach are fantastic to work with. We found unexpected water damage during the project and needed to replace a portion of the exterior of our home (including stucco). Our normal tile guy went MIA after we demoed our master bathroom in December and we ended up in a pickle. We had bought most the tile and completely gutted our bathroom. A friend (a professional builder) recommended S&S and we couldn't be happier. Our tile was rather unique in being as each piece was 24 x 48 and super heavy. They were able to get it done in a few weeks so we could go back to a 2-toilet household when is a necessity with 2 teenagers. The guys were prompt, courteous and easy to talk to. We recently completed a bathroom upgrade in our hall bathroom and fixture replacements in our Master bath that required walls to be cut out. We needed a new toilet for our bathroom. I spent *quite* a bit of time researching since our bathroom has a "banjo" shelf that extends over the toilet to the shower, which placed quite a constraint on the height of the toilet tank. After finding a toilet that would work in the space, I got a few recommendations for an installer from SplashWorks in Willow Glen, one of which was S&S Tile. Called them up and spoke with Zach -- he was very helpful, not rushed. He answered all my questions and offered to pick up the toilet from Home Depot once it came in. Fast forward to today... When I called to schedule the installation, Zach told me he'd call when he arrived at Home Depot, and would be at our place shortly thereafter, which is exactly what happened. He and Steve arrived, took the old toilet and installed the new one in 45 minutes. It looks great! Clean installation, and very efficiently executed. Plus they are nice people. read more

I recently had to have my 1950's era shower completely redone due to a leaking shower pan. Family owned business S&S Renovations was a pleasure to work with on this project! The son of the owner showed up on time to determine exactly what we were looking for. He was a very knowledgeable guy about shower pans, tile, etc. We were looking to replace the pan in our shower with either another new pan or tile. He left indicating that we would see a quotation in a couple of days. After waiting a week, I called the office and left a message asking about the quotation. No one called me back. I made a second attempt with no luck either. So...I hope that if you try to do business with them they will follow through with you. I had them come and give an estimate for a bathroom remodel. After waiting a week with no estimate I called back to follow up. Zach claimed they sent it (which they did not). He said he would re send it again that day. Still did not. I texted and let them know I did not receive it. They finally sent it the next day (over a week from the estimate!) When I called back to ask questions about the estimate, I spoke with Zach who seemed irritated at having to answer some questions and was rushing off of the phone and said he could "call me later" which he never did. They don't seem like they have any concern over earning my business. If I need to remind them to send me an estimate after a week, it's not a good sign that they would give the remodel the time or attention it deserves. Going with a different company. read more

Initially, I was impressed and happy with their work, but... Subsequent to their first job at my home (Master Bath), I had asked for a quote for my kitchen remodel - almost 3 weeks later I recieved a quote that was more than I wanted to spend. I cut back on the scope and asked to leave the existing cabinets (replacement price was ($18k) as well as reducing a few other items - and asked for a revised quote. Another 3 weeks later (after I had asked if they needed more info), I received a quote for only $3k less. I requested info on why the price didn't reflect keeping the existing cabinets (should have been close to $18k less), another month has gone by and no response. In addition to their lack of response, the slab they installed during the MBath remodel has now cracked - from what I have researched, this is due to an uneven surface where the slab is supported. The pressure on the slab without having a flat surface as support, will crack over time. Now I have this aweful crack in the slab and an unresponsive contractor. The crew was very respectful and clean, but I am troubled by their lack of response and the crack in my slab has me very upset with their quality. Stay away from these guys! read more

Steve and his team did such a good job on our bathroom remodel a few years back that we brought S&S in for two additional remodels this year. They are very good with animals and being cautious about not letting them get out. We have a 100lb lab that just wants belly rubs from guests and they were more accommodating with that.
