We walked into a space with an old-school feel that still kept things fun, with colorful decorations, themed donuts, and custom creations displayed throughout the shop. The room had a warm, inviting energy with a steady flow of regulars coming in for their morning coffee and donuts, and the display case was filled with rows of generously sized pastries that made it hard to choose just one. It felt like the kind of local bakery that has something for everyone. The donuts are the main attraction, with a menu that includes both traditional favorites and more elaborate specialty options. We ordered a few and found the classic glazed, jelly-filled, Boston cream, and coconut donuts made fresh daily and noticeably larger than what you will find at most chain shops. Alongside the classics, the bakery regularly releases seasonal and holiday-themed donuts that are decorated with impressive attention to detail, making them just as fun to look at as they are to eat. One of the things that sets Donut King apart is its custom donut cakes and special event orders. Instead of a traditional cake, they can create large donut displays and personalized designs for birthdays, baby showers, and other celebrations. The decorations are creative, and the staff are often willing to accommodate custom requests, making it a popular option for special occasions. The drink menu complements the bakery well, with specialty lattes, coffee, and refreshing seasonal beverages that pair nicely with the donuts, making it an easy place to stop for a quick breakfast or coffee break. The staff are consistently friendly and welcoming, helping create the neighborhood atmosphere that keeps many customers coming back. While the shop can get busy during mornings and weekends, service generally moves quickly despite the crowds. The team moved through orders with efficiency, and the donuts came out fresh and well presented. Overall, Donut King is a great choice if you are looking for fresh, generously sized donuts with plenty of variety. Between the classic recipes, creative seasonal offerings, custom donut cakes, and welcoming atmosphere, it stands out as one of the better local bakeries for both everyday treats and special occasions.

This is a review for a delivery that was sent to me today for my birthday from my manager. I was…read morenot expecting the package and had no idea what was. Upon opening the box, to my surprise I discovered two small mason jars, very cute in appearance, filled with cupcakes. The packaging was very well done and the cupcakes shipped out in perfect condition, so I would recommend purchasing these as a gift to ship someone. The jars were packed in the box in individual cubby holes to prevent them from moving around during shipping. Not that there was much of a chance of that, that cake is stuffed into that jar, so there is not that much wiggle room in the jar for the cake to move around (win win if you ask me since there is more to eat). There was also a note from my manager with birthday wishes as well as a card from the business. I had no idea who the business was, but love the concept. I saw that the owners, Tracey Noonan and Danielle Vilagie, had been on Shark Tank and actually have a brick and mortar store at 342A Circuit St. Hanover, MA. The concept is a good one....definitely cuts down on messy frosting getting all over the place. And I love that there was more cake than frosting. I am that person that usually takes the bulk of the frosting off a cupcake before eating it. The way the ladies have set these up, there is frosting on the top of cake in the jar, but it was not overwhelming for me. My manager got two flavors for me: Cupid's Vanilla Confetti and Dark Chocolate White Chocolate Raspberry. I can only speak to the Vanilla one as I don't do raspberry (The Doctor and Queen will eat that one). But what I will say is that the Vanilla one was delish. The cake was very moist and the frosting was not overly sweet. I thought there was just right balance of cake and frosting in the jar overall. I checked out the website and saw some chocolate ones I would definitely want to order, so I think I will placing an order to try those. The Chocolate Lab jar sounds very good (chocolate cake with a chocolate ganache center, chocolate buttercream frosting) and so does the Chocolate Birthday cake one as well. Wicked Good Cupcakes offers several different boxes (birthday and "Thinking of You"). For the Thinking of You Box, you can choose between a 2, 4 or 6 pack that includes an Original Pura Vida bracelet. Each month they choose a different charity to receive $1.00 from each "Thinking of You" box sale. The box will also include a card signed by Tracey and Dani to let the receiver know that a donation was made. The Birthday Box has cupcake or pie jars, candles, assorted party favors and a special "Happy Birthday" greeting inside the box lid. Because these cupcakes are fresh, there is an expiration date of 7 days in which to eat them. Or you have the option of freezing them as well, but honestly I don't see that happening cause mine got eaten right away. So good luck with trying to freeze them if you order them. Ground shipping is only available for delivery dates and locations to which we can ship a package within 3 calendar days. Packages larger than a 2 packs that cannot arrive within 3 calendar days via UPS Ground can ship via UPS 3 Day Select Expedited shipping for a flat rate of $5.00. This was a nice discovery and so unexpected. While my manager hit the mark 50% on selection, this was 100% a great find.

After I saw Yelp friend Denyce M.'s review, first of all, I just knew by seeing the name of the…read moreplace that it had to be in MA---and I was right :D Then I thought to myself, "I have to try this". But first, we arranged to send some cupcakes to my grandkids and the family. I have to say the gift ordering was painless! In fact, I wish more companies made it this easy. It was a matter of giving the company an email address of the recipient, then paying for the gift. What the company then does is send an email to the recipient then tell them to pick which flavors they want plus when they want the package to get there. Plus, supply their address. We had let our son-in-law know that the email was on the way and he quickly pounced on it. The package came when they wanted it to come. I asked for feedback and they all really liked the cupcakes. Okay...good. Now, we'll order some for ourselves. We each got 2 apiece. I chose 1 birthday cake and one salted caramel. My husband chose 1 key lime and 1 whole lotta lemon. The cupcakes are sent overnight. If we wanted them on ice, that was an extra $15 but since summer wasn't here yet, we didn't get the ice. The cupcakes held up well. As for the flavors---the birthday cake was well flavored and moist. However, for me anyway, eating it in one sitting would have been too much. I put the leftovers in the fridge and ate them the next day. The salted caramel was a let down as I tasted no salt. At least, it wasn't overly sweet. My husband found the key lime to not have much flavoring. He didn't taste any lime until he got near the bottom. Also, he wished the lemon one had more flavor. While these cupcakes are pricey, remember that the shipping and handling is built into the price. The mother and daughter who founded the company appeared on Shark Tank. Kevin O'Leary (aka "Mr. Wonderful") bought into their company and gets 40 cents per cupcake sold. Their main office is in Hanover, MA but they opened up a spot in the Quincy Market in Boston. Kevin O'Leary was there to sell the 1 millionth cupcake. Here is a short video of the event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_o1IVnRZjE Would we order from them again? Yes, we're willing to give them another try. And, yes, we will send them as gifts to others again. They are quite unique and I'm curious to try some other flavors.
