    Mushroom avocado toast
    Allison N.

I love the vibes of this place! Cute decor, see photos, and frequent visitors kept cycling through. The friendliness of the two employees really shined. I visited to work during the day due to suggestions from others and it fit the description perfectly. My iced coffee was delicious and the mushroom avocado toast was okay although for the price I wish it would have had better mushrooms. I'll order something else next time. The main issue I had is that I could not connect to any of my Zoom meetings through the WiFi and ended up having to go to Cargo instead. Hopefully they can update their settings, unless this is intentional.

I dined in breakfast after 12 on a weekend. I specifically choose lunch time to avoid crowd. I got a seat right away. Lot of folks were working on laptops. The place was hip. Food was excellent. Portion size was smaller though. B-Fast roast beef sandwich was my favorite item. Grainbowl with avocado was a good one as well. Toast peanut butter was my other item. Both the jam and the chunky peanut butter was of good quality. I tried their special drink - golden milk latte - which was turmeric, ginger and tea latte. It was good, but I prefer a normal latte.

Came here with a friend on a sunny day and was able to sit outside. Loved the community feel with people seeming to come and want to hang out. JPH doesn't have a huge menu for drinks, but they do it well! Loved the syrups and seasonality. My friend had tried the root beer syrup and said it was "interesting." I have a very convoluted and opinionated ranking system based on 13 features that I like to use for every coffee shop. JPH ranked a solid 15.71/21, with some of the standout features being espresso quality, location, and drinkware. Overall, will be coming back!

Delicious avocado toast. They use Madison Sourdough bread, my favorite. Can get pretty busy but it fluctuates. Pretty spacious on the inside with outlets available along the side tables. (Free WiFi too). Outdoor seating in the summer!

Excellent coffee and a nice place to get some work in. I have to say also that their food is incredible. I got the roast beef breakfast sandwich and it was one of the best I've ever had. Truly unique and perfectly balanced. Threw a side of potatoes in there to round it out and I was a happy boy. Everyone here was friendly and they played cool music to set the vibe. Will definitely come back here!

Visited Johnson Public House for the first time on a Saturday morning (around 10 am). The venue was really cozy and warm. Had heard good reviews about their coffee and had to check it out myself! My party of 2 ordered iced oat milk lattes and they came out to around $5 each which I thought was reasonably priced. The coffee was really good - the espresso / beans used were strong & had great flavor. Also tried their a couple of their breakfast options - a breakfast ham sandwich & granola yogurt bowl. They each ran around $10 which I thought was also reasonable for the price! The granola & yogurt bowl was really good and served with macerated strawberries. The ham sandwich was really tasty as well. We were lucky to grab a free table when we walked in and it was a nice atmosphere to work in / socialize. The staff were friendly and overall the experience was great. Would recommend!

Solid drip coffee. Only one option.

Great first visit this past Sunday. With the Old Fashioned closed on Sundays, I scrambled to Yelp to find us an alternate and this place did not disappoint. Conveniently located down the street from our hotel and in a very cute area, is the Johnson Public House. Walked into a moderately-filled space with at least a dozen tables or so. A few tables outside. Some folks were in and out and others were there spending their morning inside, reading the paper, etc. The menu is somewhat limited, but something for everyone. I decided on the Sunday morning breakfast sandwich which was fantastic. A fried egg, grilled ham, cheddar, on a muffin that was slightly soaked in Maple syrup. The salty to sweetness balance was perfection. My wife had the french toast bread pudding and it was decent. Sorta boring after the initial bites. Small amount of strawberries added. Needed a bunch of maple syrup. They had some scones, Level 5 vegan donuts and maybe on more item at the front counter. Didn't get adventurous on the drink order, just their standard drip coffee and it was quite flavorful and not bitter at all. Not the darkest cup of coffee, but way better than your standard diner brew. Service was friendly and you order everything at the counter and they hand you a number and bring the food right to your table. A bussing station is right there for you to dispose of your own items when finished. Recommend highly.

Johnson Public House is a cute cafe in Madison that's great to do work, hang out with friends, or grab a coffee alone. They have free wifi and is well lit. It is on the smaller side but it hasn't been hard to find a table on Sunday mornings. The food and coffee are very reasonably priced. I like their savory breakfast sandwiches. My favorite is the Sunday breakfast sandwich. Their lattes are well made and the iced latte comes in a large glass. I have tried to get the french toast bread pudding a few times now, but they sell out fast so go early to try that! The employees are nice and bring your food to the table.

Cut coffee shop cafe with the Wille Street upscale neighborhood kinda vibe. It's chic but homey in a sense and the service is wonderful. The baristas and cashiers are always friendly, willing to chat and share their thoughts on the offerings. When dining in you get read silverware and cups, which just makes it even more like home. People stay for dates, meets ups, and even working; so take advantage of the free wifi. Overall, I like it and it's a solid place if you're in the neighborhood.

QUITE POSSIBLY THE BEST BREAKFAST SANDWICH I HAVE EVER HAD. I am not joking this is a phenomenal thing to consume I wholeheartedly recommend it! Perfect balance of mozzarella, egg, tomato, spinach, pesto, and wellll toasted bread. Coffee was also very well done

Really good coffee, wonderful remodeled interior. It's so much cleaner/modern than before but still hipster with fun art. They are still taking covid seriously but they have indoor seating again! Their cold brew, espresso, drip, everything they do well. They roast their own coffee under the Kin-Kin brand and have standard and sometime imaginative brunchy fare too. Definitely one of the best cafes in Madison.

Food was excellent, the roast beef breakfast sandwich was excellent and they had multiple hot sauce/sriracha options. The basic b smoothie is everything I've ever looked for in a smoothie that wasn't overly sugared down or sweet. The workers were very nice.

Great Dane Pub has become one of my favorite spots in Madison for a variety of reasons from the drinks, vibes, service and community support! Situated on the corner of Doty and King in downtown Madison, Great Dane is a welcome sight for any visitor or local looking for a chill spot to have a solid drink, tasty bite and/or a good time! The pub is one large space, but it is separated into a few unique areas. One side is quintessential pub with a long bar, lots of dark woods, and a good sized dining room. The other is more of a pool hall vibe where you will find the other side of the bar, several pool tables, lots of TV's, high tops, darts, etc...We have bellied up to both sides of the bar and while I like both sides, I prefer the vibe of the pub side. They have a fairly extensive food menu with several bar/pub classics such as wings, nachos and burgers. But they also offer a good variety of sandwiches, bowls, salads, soups and even tacos. While we are normally here for the drinks, we do enjoy the cheese curds, wings and poutine! Speaking of drinks, they always have a great menu of house cocktails that is constantly updated for seasonality. I have had several iterations of cocktails and since I visit a few times a year, I always get to try new seasonal cocktails and beers! Service is always stellar here, no matter what side of the bar you are on. Welcoming, friendly and helpful...every time! Overall, I am an absolute fan of The Great Dane Pub!

The menu is filled with elevated pub food, a few classics and then a few twists on those very classics. Come hinge, because the menu is carb-driven, so be ready to eat! To start, we went with the poutine, because why not! The fries were crispy, gravy was velvety and the curds were firm, yet melty enough for a good cheese pull! For our mains, we both went sandwiches. I went with the Celtic Burger, which is their standard burger with added caramel iced onion, whiskey bacon jam, Irish cheddar and a garlic aioli. The burger was good and cooked well, but it was less impressive than I expected given all the goods they added to it. While the aforementioned additions sound like a flavor bomb, it was still fairly one note in overall flavor. It was still tasty, but again, not as expected. My buddy went with the corned beef sandwich. He enjoyed it, no major issues! I did appreciate that exchanging fries with fried curds was an option, especially after loaded up on fries as a starter. The curds were well fried, pillowy and quite tasty. Perfect side for sure! In addition to the food, they are known for their bar offerings so you know we had to grab a few cocktails! I went with the Golden Dew and my buddy the Old Fashioned. Golden Dew was delightful, however the old fashioned was a bit sweet, but that's possibly the brandy. Service was great. We walked in and hit the wait list, however was able to scoop up a few seats at the bar before our table was ready. The bartenders were friendly, helpful and an overall joy to interact with. Overall, definitely a fan of The Coopers Tavern! When back in Madison, I would certainly swing by again!

We had some old fashioneds before ordering food, and I thought they were good. Service was super attentive, especially as we delayed ordering to enjoy drinks and an appetizer for a bit. The two pieces that came out were enormous and a bit wonky shaped... made me wonder what on earth this fish looked like in its swimming days. The batter was quite tasty, crunchy but not too crunchy/hard, but it was so incredibly think I'm not sure I got fish in every bite. I took one piece home and give the fish part to my pup as a meal topper, and the ratio of breading I had to pull off compared to fish was a bit (quite a bit) much. Still, everything I ate was tasty. I got the salad with my dinner, and was so happy that it came out with quality greens instead of a chunk of iceberg type lettuce.
