And can we talk about the music?! Christian music playing the whole time -- that's all we listen to, so my son was over there having his own little concert knowing every word lol. It just felt GOOD in there. Now listen... they were BUSY busy (Saturday night, so we expected that), and we were starvingggg, so we skipped the appetizers -- which honestly hurt my feelings a little because they sounded SO good And I HAVE to shout out the server/owner -- because baby, my dad is 80 years old and will talk to ANYBODY about ANYTHING. When I say they handled him like a pro... I mean patient, kind, laughing with him, never rushing him off -- just truly good people. If you know, you know Let's get into the food though I ordered the BBQ bacon cheeseburger (no onions) with fries... AND a fresh squeezed lemonade that was absolutely BOMB ‍ Like refreshing, perfect, not too sweet -- I could've had about three of those, easy My dad got the surf & turf burger, my sister got a regular burger, my brother-in-law had the crawfish étouffée with fried catfish, and my son got chicken fingers. We did have a bit of a wait, but honestly it gave us time to sit, talk, and enjoy being together -- no complaints there BUT BABY... when that food hit the table... Not. One. Word. Except "OMG this is the best thing I've ever eaten!!!" That burger?!?! I'm not even kidding -- I would request that as my LAST MEAL. It was THICK, juicy, cooked perfectly. The bacon? Crispy perfection The sourdough bun? Soft, fluffy, just holding everything together like it was sent from Heaven The BBQ sauce wasn't overpowering -- just right. AND let me say this... I am the DIPPING SAUCE QUEEN I normally need ranch, ketchup, something on the side at all times... but this burger?! I didn't touch a single sauce. Not ONE. It stood on its own and didn't need a thing I did not stop eating until it was GONE. No to-go box. No shame. No regrets. I usually can't even finish a burger anywhere, but this one?? I couldn't put it down. And when I tell you EVERYONE cleaned their plates -- I mean EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. Even my son, who is VERY picky about his "chicken nuggets," was tearing those chicken fingers UP and talking about how good they were So will I be back? ABSOLUTELY. Will I recommend it? Already have ‍ Will I start a petition (or boycott ) if they ever take that burger off the menu? Don't test me. Food was truly wonderful like all the other reviews state, but the wait times for service and food were not. We were brought flat cokes, then asked for tea instead, that was brought out warm with little ice that melted before it even cooled the tea. Service needs so much improvement, especially during lunch hours, can't even fault the gal working, she was by herself. The building could also use a good cleaning, it's super cute otherwise. Food, service, and atmosphere! The food was packed with flavor. I refused to dip or add any table sauce. The service was very warm and welcoming which made it an overall very enjoyable moment for me and my husband. The ambiance was intimate and pleasant for any group of people - coworkers, family, or if you're on a date. The atmosphere I personally loved. Visited on a Saturday evening. A friend from out of state joined me. Greeted promptly by the hostess and by our server. I have one complaint-the portion size for the lemonade is too small for the price. With that being said-the food was very good and the lemonade was too. We enjoyed our visit. Sometimes you need to try these smaller hometown restaurants. This restaurant is a Christian family owned restaurant that is very friendly serving pretty good food. They have a really good Crawfish Bread. You need to try this. Really good. We tried other dishes like the seafood quesadillas, and the burgers that were pretty nice. Took nearly an hour to get our meal, but what made it so bad was that there were only 3 other tables being served, 14 tables were empty. Ordered the etoufee and catfish, catfish was delicious but the etoufee had very little rice so we asked for a side of rice and about 10 minutes later we were told they didn't have any more and would have to cook some more which would take 15 more minutes. The food here is really good and I was definitely satisfied with my quesadilla that I had ordered. I know that this restaurant is on the newer side where they may still be working on figuring out their flow with food orders as it did take a while to even get our drinks and we were the only people in at the time. I came in with a friend on an early Friday evening, and promptly seated. It seems to be all street parking and a seat yourself kind of place. I got the crawfish bread with shrimp and it was good, fresh and hot. While it was good, it seems like they toasted the bread then put all of the toppings on, like it was two separate items. What an awesome spot! From the chill service to the amazing food, it is an awesome place to get a meal. They had a really good and calm ambiance with worship music playing and just a calm vibe. I had their crawfish bread which was unbelievably good, and also their chicken and waffles (which was apparently the first dish they ever served). We visited Johnson's Kitchen for the first time today, a Friday, at lunch. We were WELCOMED in by the server, hostess, front-manager, all in one. The house was nearly half full and she was BUSY, but keeping up with everyone's orders and cheques. The food was simply amazing . The BBQ Bacon Burger was huge, the meat was seared perfectly and had plenty of bacon. We felt like we were actually APPRECIATED for being there and honestly that doesn't happen in many larger, chain type places. This is a sort of "hole in the wall" place, but a truly delightful one. Our party of 5 came in on a Friday evening. The restaurant was slight busy but there was no wait time. Our waitress greeted us quickly and took our drink orders. After she served us our drinks, she informed us that there would be a little wait before take our orders, as she had to clear out another table. The wait time for our food, after our orders were taken was a bit longer than desired. However, when the food was delivered to our table hot, fresh and delicious that time more than made up for itself. I order the appetizer sample with DJ fries, lemon pepper wings and crawfish bread. Visited our friends at Johnsons Kitchen again! Took our ladies church group this time. We do miss them being less than a mile from the house, but I love the new space in Downtown Hammond! Stopped by on our way home from vacation. Saw the reviews, and menu, and thought it sounded good. To say the least, we were not disappointed in any aspect of this little gem. We started with the seafood dip, and pita chips, both of which were amazing, so the combination was near perfect! My wife and son split catfish, and shrimp, with the Cajun fries, and an extra side of sweet potato fries. I had the Crawfish bread, with catfish. All of the food was perfectly cooked, and seasoned, and the portions while not excessive, were plentiful. The atmosphere was exactly what you would expect from a small, family owned diner in a small town. Friendly, pleasant conversation, and guests. Music was playing, but far from overwhelming the conversations. The service we got, was just as great as the food! Wish we lived closer, as this would become a regular place for us! read more

First off this is the best food spot in the Hammond area! I moved out this way 3 years ago from New Orleans and had a hard time finding good food, but I'm glad to have found out about Johnson's Kitchen. I love love love their wings and the seafood queso. If you're a wing lover like me you can't go wrong here, also the burgers are really good! The customer service is always on point and that alone will always get me as a repeat customer. Menu was a soft opening menu. I'm assuming that it may have changed ownership and reopened? So let's talk about the good, bad and the ugly (there really wasn't anything ugly but there was several bad). The good. The taste of their topping of their crawfish bread. Very creamy, well seasoned and over all good. I will say this, it'll be a theme, I don't think 2 thick cut (2") small loaf (2-3" oval) Italian loaf cuts. 10 - 12 crawfish in a cream Sauce on top is an 18 dollar appetizer. I know things have become expensive but the app might be 1.50 with of food if I'm being generous. Wife had the BBQ bacon burger. She said it was very good. I tasted it. And while I wasn't blown away the sauce was good. Didn't seem generic, possibly homemade. I had the surf and turf burger. Burger was a little overcooked for my taste, waitress didn't ask either of us how we wanted it cooked so I'm guessing it's well done regardless. Burger was ok. Not well seasoned on the shrimp or the patty. Pretty much just meat cooked. Fries were crisp and good. Boys got a fish plate. I'll say this was one thing I was most disappointed in. For 7.99 you get a very small portion of fries and one very small fish filet. I understand as Americans we tend to over eat but at first glance it was very small. Both of my boys, 5 and 7, finished the entire plate and both were still hungry. I'm not sure if my boys have ever finished a restaurant meal let alone said they were still hungry after eating one. No one should go out to eat and leave hungry IMHO. read more

clearly a popular place with the locals; we were looking forward to crawfish etoufee (wednesday special), gumbo, and red beans and rice, but unfortunately they were out of basically everything - like no rice, no soup? no chicken i felt for the owner/server who was somewhat apologetic and of course we definitely understand running out of items even if they are basic staples. (rice??) mainly i am skeptical of the prices: the crawfish bread was two hunks of bread with a little topping. Not like, two long pieces like a tartine: just two thick slices of french bread- $14. $6 for a side of pasta that's the size of a coffee cup. and incredibly basic. not sure what seasoning others got but other than salt there wasn't much going on. basic hot sauce. the red beans were on point but cheese options for a burger were american ... and mozzarella. it's just not a place for foodies. we were only given the transaction receipt, not an itemized receipt. i'm glad they have their fans but we were expecting more based off the rave reviews. pass ETA the owners response is pretty defensive. fyi we arrived at 6:36 and the place closes at 7. i guess when it takes 20 minutes to toast some crawfish & mayo on french bread, it must feel like "a few minutes to closing". maybe less time on yelp and more time on kitchen prep would be helpful? read more

The best daggone food I've had in quite some time. I've been seeing this place on my social media feed for the longest and I AM KICKING MYSELF FOR NOT GETTING HERE SOONER. We ordered the Kingdom burger....Superb!!! Fresh!!! Flavorful, The honey garlic wings... fried to perfection in a sauce that was balanced and savory....However the show stopper was the Friday special .... The seafood stuffed baked potato.
