clearly a popular place with the locals; we were looking forward to crawfish etoufee (wednesday special), gumbo, and red beans and rice, but unfortunately they were out of basically everything - like no rice, no soup? no chicken i felt for the owner/server who was somewhat apologetic and of course we definitely understand running out of items even if they are basic staples. (rice??) mainly i am skeptical of the prices: the crawfish bread was two hunks of bread with a little topping. Not like, two long pieces like a tartine: just two thick slices of french bread- $14. $6 for a side of pasta that's the size of a coffee cup. and incredibly basic. not sure what seasoning others got but other than salt there wasn't much going on. basic hot sauce. the red beans were on point but cheese options for a burger were american ... and mozzarella. it's just not a place for foodies. we were only given the transaction receipt, not an itemized receipt. i'm glad they have their fans but we were expecting more based off the rave reviews. pass ETA the owners response is pretty defensive. fyi we arrived at 6:36 and the place closes at 7. i guess when it takes 20 minutes to toast some crawfish & mayo on french bread, it must feel like "a few minutes to closing". maybe less time on yelp and more time on kitchen prep would be helpful? read more

The best daggone food I've had in quite some time. I've been seeing this place on my social media feed for the longest and I AM KICKING MYSELF FOR NOT GETTING HERE SOONER. We ordered the Kingdom burger....Superb!!! Fresh!!! Flavorful, The honey garlic wings... fried to perfection in a sauce that was balanced and savory....However the show stopper was the Friday special .... The seafood stuffed baked potato. Talking about pressure!!!!! That thang was huge, stuffed to the brim w/ shrimp crawfish and onions in a queso like sauce.... I wanted to run to the back and kiss the chef! Thank Ya! Poor service. 1 hour waiting and still no food. This was the daily special? 45 minutes, no refill or checking on us. Now I got my food. They gave me shrimp pasta when I ordered chicken. This is by far the best food in Louisiana. Hands down. We stopped here on our way from TX to Biloxi. Amazing food. Exceptional service. The sweetest family runs this establishment. Absolutely fantastic! The 4.9 stars rating is legit. That Cajun crawfish bread- top tier. The chicken and waffles were much better than Roscoe's in L.A. Last, but absolutely not least, the honey garlic chicken wings were seasoned to perfection. Not too sweet, perfect amount of garlic, and so good! My husband and I visited johnson's kitchen in Hammond, Louisiana our appetizer. was a seafood appetizer which was really good but my catfish basket really lacked desirability. The fillets were very very thin and they were very few. I was highly disappointed. It came out on a very small plat. , I headed toward the bathroom at the back of the restaurant and noticed the someone at the bar had huge pieces of catfishon on his plate, but he wasn't the same race as I am and because I believe this is a minirity owned business and they tend to apparently.show partiality it appears. So we finally were able to make it out to Johnson's Kitchen today. Boy have we been missing out. We had the crawfish rolls to start. These rolls are overstuffed with crawfish goodness! I had the chicken and waffles and wifey had the chicken pasta. This chicken was cooked perfectly. The waffle was moist and not over cooked. The pasta is a Thursday special that comes with chicken or seafood option. Helpings were very plentiful. What made the meal the best was the hospitality shown by everyone in this establishment. My co-worker and I were excited to try Johnson's Kitchen because we had heard so much about the restaurant! Sadly, we both were disappointed! The Seafood Pasta was very dull and dry. We ordered extra pasta sauce and was charged $2 for what looked like maybe 2 tablespoons of sauce. I have been wanting to try this place for a while. The food was very good. I got a side of Fried Shrimp, which were very good and fresh tasting. I also got an order of Crawfish Rolls, which had two rolls per order. They are like Eggrolls, without all the cabbage, carrots and other vegetables in it. Just Crawfish and a Cream Sauce. They were so good, but just a little bit too spicy for me. And I like Spicy but not too much. I only ate one roll. I got too full. read more
