Supposed to be a medium, rare ribeye. That was tough and overcooked.

Went there today, expecting to get a good steak. Instead, I got a steak that was overcooked. I asked for medium rare I got medium well the manager says oh no, that is medium rare told him no. So he suggested next time I order the steak rare. So I had to pay for the whole steak dinner, so the dog got steak for dinner that is my last time to ever step foot back in that restaurant again it is not worth the money. The waitress was very good. It did not interfere with her tip.Ribeye Steak Plus, they need to clean the grill. You could taste the crunchy in the steak.

Service was fine for takeout but I was really upset at the cost. Seriously too expensive for what we got. Plus the dessert was horrible. A ding dong would have been better. I think next time I'll go next door to Charlie's.

It's empty in here BUT I'm so glad we stopped in anyway!

So we were on our way to another town and decided to stop in despite the parking lot being empty. My husband said we ought to give it a try because the reviews for the place have to come from somewhere. So glad we did! Our server, Christina, was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. Best spaghetti and meatballs I've ever had outside of my own kitchen. Seriously. The meatballs were soooo good. Portions were great too. Husband had his fave, hamburger steak, and he enjoyed it as well. The place is definitely a bit aged in decor and some booths had duct tape on the seating . I would say give them a try because it was truly great small town, home cooking! We will be back for sure as it is on the way to our grandbaby's house .

This was the worst red fish ever, Tasted like a mouthful of Tony's. Do not recommend going here, ever.

The corn chowder soup was fabulous and the special "pork chop" worth every penny. The Blackened chicken caesar was very good.

Excited to get to try this cool little bar and restaurant which has named one of the best 50 bars…read morein world. Reservations fill up months in advance, so we were very grateful to get one. Charming patio, and beautiful intimate interior with just 4 seats at the gorgeous bar and about 6 small tables inside. The cocktail menu is seasonal, and this spring, many were tea infused. I had the Columbina with gin, jasmine tea pear verdita, boomsma and lemon, and my husband had the Jewel sazerac - both exquisite. We shared 5 small plates - the crawfish bread - crawfish inside a crispy, flaky croissant like bread - OMG deliciousness. Then the tufa crudo - so fresh and flavorful, the crab tartlets - fine, but not as good as the other dishes; excellent salad, and the broccolini in a housemade horseradish goat cheese sauce - wow; one of the best broccolini dishes we have had. The carrots looked amazing, too. What a treat!

Had an amazing meal at Jewel of the South on Good Friday this year! I was looking for cocktail bars…read moreat which to grab a bite in the French Quarter before our Haunted History tour later in the evening, and Jewel of the South had amazing reviews and was really close to where we needed to be. The vibes were immaculate from the moment we walked through the outdoor patio! We were seated upstairs at a table for two and our server helpfully explained all the different parts of the menu. We weren't super hungry so we split a bunch of lighter bites and grabbed a handful of cocktails as well. Our favorites of the night were the crab tartlettes and the savory calas with snapper pastrami. The tuno crudo had fresh fish but it felt a bit overwhelmed by the other flavors, which were kind of one-note and heavy. The bread that came with it was overtoasted, but the foie gras parfait was excellent. We ended the night with the grapefruit sesame panna cotta. The flavors were surprising but they worked really well together. Would definitely come back for cocktails and light bites the next time we're in the city!

After a stop in Pass Manchac looking for outside dining but finding a jammed inside-only restaurant…read morewith no masks, we headed up US 51 into Ponchatoula to look for an alternative. J Rucker's was listed as open, but when we arrived no one was there and it was marked closed. When we called, we were told "yes, we are open" but no one appeared in front. Finally just as we were about to drive off, someone came running across the parking lot. "We are open, and you can sit outside." After that little bit our time confusion (to the restaurant's credit, we were looking for a place around 4:30 in the afternoon and some listings showed a 5 pm opening, while others implied open from lunch to dinner. No big deal), we got seated and offered menus. "Fried ribs" jumped out immediately as (1) unhealthy in many ways (2) unique and (3) of course, something we have to try once. We put in an order for that, along with fried shrimp and stewed chicken. Unfortunately a few minutes later the kitchen informed our server that fried ribs would not be offered that evening. I changed to stewed chicken. For starters, the fried broccoli and boudain balls were hot, fresh, not greasy, and served with a house dipping sauce that had a bit of kick. The stewed chicken arrived in the dense gravy on rice, tasty but beware also on the salty side (this bothered some other diners in my party more than me). The fried shrimp actually might have been the best thing on the table: hot, crispy, with almost like a tempura texture served on a bed of thin-sliced french fries. We were stuffed and facing a ride back to the south shore, so no dessert..."but tell us what you have, anyway." One of the options was "Bananas Foster ice cream." Uh oh, looks like we ARE having dessert. Highly recommended, with a strong banana flavor and actually frozen bits of ripe banana in there. (Some may not like that texture, but didn't bother me one bit). Chicken and waffles are one of the options for entree, as is an ice cream and waffle dessert that looked good as it went out to another table.
