I knew this place was going to be good as soon as I saw the line for crawfish--that's always a great sign. We waited about 15 minutes, but the line moved really fast, so it wasn't bad at all. I ordered 3 pounds of crawfish, a half dozen crabs, and 6 orders of fried hot wings. Overall, everything was good, and I would definitely recommend this spot. The crawfish were a little too spicy for me personally, but I can admit--in my younger days, that level of spice would've easily been a 10/10. Because of that, I'd rate them about an 8/10. The crabs were decent, though slightly on the dry side, especially the claws--but still not bad overall. Now the fried hot wings? Absolutely amazing. That's one of the main reasons I came, and they did not disappoint. Fresh, hot, and full of flavor--definitely something I'd come back for anytime I'm in the area. Wow! Great customer service when you order your tasty food carry out only! Convenient parking lot in front and so much to choose from drinks to food! All types of liquor and snacks! All their cooked food is full of flavor and the meats are juicy, not dry, especially their fried chicken tenders and turkey wings! I love their fresh crab with cajun shrimp! The turkey neck meat is so tasty with good spices marinated in the meat! The turkey wing had great cajun flavor on the crispy skin and meat was moist! The gumbo with rice had great kick to it just right! My favorite was the boudin links with crawfish that was full of flavor! The hot wings I couldn't get enough of that was so crispy outside and juicy inside! The fried fish and shrimp was a good portion and not small that was so crispy outside and moist inside! I would get this again and again as the value and quality of the food is top notch for the price! I love the party platters as they are a better deal for the quality of the food! Super king is great and everyone knows they have some of the cheapest prices for crawfish. Their crawfish is a little different. It has a kick and is done with Asian spices. Good stop for boiled crabs too. They have daily lunch specials and it's a favorite place to go for a nice spread of food. They have solid fried rice, and regulars know you can get chicken and shrimp lo mein. MY GO TO CRAWFISH IN HAMMOND. It has the perfect amount of spice and depth of flavor. They get crowded on fridays during lent but I will always wait. Love the boiled corn. It holds the spice the best. They have d&d sausage so so so good. My boyfriend got the fried catfish plate with fried rice. The food is okay, but I recently had a racially profiled experience. I was the only african american in line at the time and I was told that my food would be waiting at the register. Seemed normal at first, but the two white people in line were both allowed to carry their food around and move as they pleased? I should probably start out by saying I LOVE superking and generally try and stop where when I am in Hammond. Though this is not always possible, it's the kind of place that you should make a habit of visiting. From the outside, it appears to be your standard run-down ghetto corner store. But on the inside, it is not only a standard run-down ghetto corner store, but a place that serves up some of the best fried chicken, catfish, crawfish, fried rice, and nicest selection of low-end booze that I know of. The staff are usually friendly and accommodating. Whether you're going to get a quick cheap lunch or a mid-day mad dog, superking is the place for you. The only drawback that I can see? I bought crawfish from here today. For starters, they were about 50c above market price at $3.99 a lb. What I got a was a big percentage of crushed tails and random legs/claws. They weren't seasoned that well, and were on par with Chinese buffet stuff. If you are in the area, drive down to Buddy's or the fruit stand, and skip this dump. read more
