Bought live crawfish, they loaded them up, I should have looked at them. Got them home, very small, a bunch of dead ones and they had clumps and clumps of dirt. I had to wash them forever to get them halfway clean. Will never buy from this place again, buyer beware it's a really bad place to get crawfish from, they were more expensive than Winn Dixie, Acquistaplace, Mandeville seafood but at a worse quality. Cheapest place around but half your crawfish are smashed or dead. My potatoes has huge pits in them from where they say too long before being boiled. Almost like they boiled rotten potatoes. I threw all of them away. The crawfish, what was edible, had an okay flavor but next to no kick. For every 2 I ate, I had to throw away one. Will not be back. read more

I WILL first say that the Bateau Brothers are very Friendly and know their seafood. they also know how to berl their crawfish and crabs. Some of the best crawfish around! BF carried home some 10lbs of crawfish the other night and what a glorious night it turned out to be. The one complaint I have and it's very possible it's not Bateau's fault is the boiled shrimp was overcooked. Now it could be because the shrimp had to wait to be eaten until we chowed down on the crawfish. I did not personally go to Bateau's so can't comment on the location but the crawfish, oh yeah, good stuff! and reasonable prices IMHO. 10lbs for $27 I'm thinking this will be our "go to" place for weekend chow downs on the back deck. read more

Stopped in and purchased two sacks of live crawfish to take out of town. Very clean establishment and friendly people. The crawfish were excellent. They were in a cooler for about 24 hours and we only had about 5 that were dead. They were very nice sized and also very clean. I definitely recommend Bateau's Seafood!!! read more

As I used to do everytime I came to Mandeville to see the family, I wouls stop and pick up 40 pounds of boiled crawfish along with corn, potatoes, and such. But this time, I found the place I had been going to went out of business. Thanks to Yelp, I found Bateau's just no0rth of I-12 on La 59. There was a line almost out the door. The interior was your standard seafood supplier but the smells were out of this world!! My daughter and I almost packed up the air and sold it as a cologne!! The folks were very friendly, the crawfish succulent and big, and the best part is that they will always have my business now. Thanks guys and gals, for the best crawfish deal in town. read more

I purchased live crawfish from here this Sunday 3/10/19, there were medium size crawfish and looked ready to eat. Upon washing we noticed that this 40lbs sack was full of spiders and what appeared to be a mole crickets. We washed and purged the crawfish several times. When we started picking threw the washed crawfish we noticed a couple of more insects in the sac. There was also about 3 lbs of dead crawfish and it appeared that several were crushed like the bad had been stepped on. This was a major turnoff!!!!!! read more

By far the worst live crawfish i have ever encountered. We bought a sack (35lbs) and 12lbs were dead i expect a few dead but this goes well beyond what is acceptable. Crawfish had discoloration on the knuckles of the shell which leads me to believe they were dead long enough for the chemical process to start. I will never return read more

Service is friendly, quick, and reliable. I drive from Ponchatoula, passing up closer markets, to get my live crawfish here. There is never any confusion or issues with pre-ordered sacks. They consistently provide good-sized clean bugs with the lowest percent of dead "throw-aways" compared to other markets. When I'm just feeding myself and not the neighborhood, their boiled bugs are well-seasoned and perfectly cooked every time. This is the only seafood market on the north shore where I have never gotten that "ripped-off" feeling and I've been to all of them several times. read more

I have been ordering live crawfish by the sack from here for years and have always been satisfied, however, this past weekend Bateau's lost me and my family as customers. I ordered 3 sacks of crawfish on Monday to be picked up by Saturday for a party. I was told the order would be ready come Saturday morning. When I called Saturday morning to confirm my order I was told the shipment had not come in yet BUT they had my order ready and to come up and get them. I sent my Dad and when he got there to pick up the order he was told that they had made a mistake and didn't have my order. My Dad explained that we had this order placed for a week and had 50 people coming over in a few hours for a party, the owner basically got rude with my Dad and told him it's not his problem!! What TERRIBLE customer service!! It's one thing if the shipment didn't come in but don't tell us to come and get them when you don't really have them. I WILL NEVER go back to Bateau's again which stinks because I used to really like this place. read more
