Good food, mediocre service. We came on a slow Saturday afternoon and ordered the fried soft shell crab platter and fried oyster platter. The interior was interesting with lots of motivational crawfish quotes. Unfortunately, they did not have crawfish available, they must have sold out from when I called earlier in the morning and they confirmed they had crawfish. The softshell crab was pricy, but was very fresh and tasty. The oysters were fine in taste but plentiful. Each comes with 2 sides. The sides we ordered were 2sides of fried okra, a potato salad, and sweet potato fries. All of the sides were fried to perfection and had sufficient seasoning and texture. The main issue was that our waiteress forgot our utensils for a solid 10 minutes. Not a huge issue, but a slight disappointment. read more

Portions of the platter are very small but their prices are current. Catfish & Shrimp fried platter= two very small pieces of catfish, shrimp about 8 pieces , comes with two sides. Actually, I'd give 3.5 stars. Food was very good. Grease was clean which is important in eating fried food. I dont like having to order at the counter and food is brought to you. I don't like that the restaurant and bar are combined. It is a long way from the order register to the dining room. Put the food ordering at the bar with the drinks. It may help. Came for crawfish since we were in Louisiana. Great price considering in Texas crawfish is an arm and a leg. Decent size and seasoning was good. Service seemed a little off. The cashier/ hostess didn't want to charge me for the crawfish since it wasn't done yet so I'm guessing she thought we didn't want to wait but I feel as long as you're warning folks it's boiling and it'll be a while but fresh then leave it to the customer if they're wanting to wait or not. Most customers appreciate honesty and we had no where to go at the time. Felt bad for our friends ahead of us because they got the last batch before the fresh boil and theirs was cold. Plenty of seating and restaurant had a full bar. Another thing that threw me off was when the crawfish was served I asked for some seasoning on the side to sprinkle and she was very confused. Went with my wife and future daughter-in-law, ordered the lunch special a 1/2 hot sausage poboy with fries and a drink, my wife ordered the shrimp wrap with potato salad, the workers looked a little flustered but not many in the restaurant. My wife's wrap came it was very disappointing mostly all lettuce with very few shrimp and got french fries instead of potato salad, my daughter-in-law ordered the hamburger steak special which was cold she ordered corn got green beans and had way too much gravy on the mashed potatoes. Here is the kicker I never got my poboy they brought it to another table and the Bastards never said that it didn't belong to them and i guess they ate it, was so disgusted I went and got my money back. Would not come back here if it was the last place open to eat, I got my money back from the owner and he didn't even have the courtesy to apologize for the mix up. We were so glad to drive through the causeway, visit the park then grab lunch here. I guess it's a local favorite as only my friend and I looked like tourists in the shop. Soft crab shell was great. Blackened redfish and potato salad were okay. Fried Jalapeño dough was very spicy. Price is very affordable. Fried okra was tasty. Took food to go. I was told that this was one of the first restaurants of the kind in the area. I usually go somewhere else, but decided to give this a try. I will say that the okra was tasty. The people were nice, if not a bit confused on how to charge and ring me up. Suggestion: how can this location compete with newer restaurants of the same type? Truthfully I don't think they can. I spent about $70 for a meal for 3 people. Not a favorite. And other than the okra, no one liked anything they had. Perhaps think about seasonings, preparation etc. Try the competition. Honestly, do a blind taste test. I am worried for this location if they don't get a handle on what they are missing. If you're in Mandeville and want great seafood, you owe it to yourself to check out Northlake. The strip mall where Northlake is located may be the best strip mall for food in Mandeville. It not only contains Northlake, but nearby Sticks and Bones is also amazing. This is a review of Northlake though so I'll shut up and move on. When I get an envie for boiled seafood I have traditionally called Mandeville Seafood. That's what I did this day, but they answered rudely and immediately put me on hold. Being the completely calm, patient person I am, I hung up and headed to Northlake. Best decision ever. Northlake is the kind of place you can only find in communities with a strong connection to the water. They offer fresh seafood, boiled seafood, po-boys and frozen stuff. I was in the mood for crawfish and shrimp, so that's what I got. I also added a shrimp po-boy for my daughter who for some unknown reason won't eat boiled crawfish. The people working at Northlake seemed like they're all family. That gets extra points from me. They also were incredibly friendly and helpful. While they were getting my food I talked with one of the owners about the impending crab fishing pause and learned a few things I didn't know before. Picking up food and getting an education? Score! Everything I've written thus far is moot if the food was awful. But guess what? It was as awesome as the poeple. The crawfish and shrimp were boiled properly which made peeling a breeze. They were also seasoned well and really delicious. The last few batches I've had from commercial places were kind of bland. Not these. These weren't cry in your beer spicy, but if you're from south Louisiana, you'll like them. I stole one of the shrimp from my daughter's po-boy and it was excellent. A po-boy is next on my list to try from here. I have to thank that other place for putting me on hold so abruptly. Northlake is now my go-to awesome seafood market. read more

We were looking for a place with crabs and they had good sized blue crabs and were open on the 4th of July while we were visiting on vacation. We called in advance and the lady was kind enough to hold the 3 dozen crabs we ordered to the side until we picked up. The crawfish was $2.68/lb and would've been cheaper had we not broken the bag for them. All the seasonings you need are there for your choosing and they packaged the live crabs well. read more

This place is OK. It's a seafood market/restaurant. I didn't find anything about it too exciting. It's another one of the walk in, order at the counter and be seated restaurants. I was the only one there and it took quite a while to get my food. I had the fish and shrimp as I wanted to compare it to Mandeville Seafood Market and Eatery. With the fish and shrimp you get your choice of fries, coleslaw or potato salad. I went with the fries. It also came with 2 small hush puppies and a tiny piece of bread. It was OK. The shrimp were big and tough. I think I had 7 of them and 3 pieces of fish. Too many fries to eat. The dinner was the same price as the fish and shrimp plate at Mandeville Seafood, but you get a lot less food. The soda fountain is behind the counter so you have to ask one of the ladies to get you a refill. I ran out of drink, but didn't bother to go up and ask for one as I didn't want to wait in line. Nobody ever came out to my table to see if I needed one. They also offer several types of poboys, crawfish, etc. read more

The crawfish here is so amazing that I visited twice within 24 hours! Seriously, the best seasoned, biggest, best prices crawfish I have ever had! I eat a lot of crawfish and the seasoning on the ones at Northlake puts the rest to shame! Outside of crawfish, this place offers fresh fish, cooked lunches and frozen items. As well as any seasoning or prep items you might need for a seafood feast! The cooked lunches was probably the lowest mark for me. Generally just fried foods which don't do much for me. It tasted fine, but would like to see more blackened fish options. They also offer boiled shrimp and crawfish so at the end of the day I had what I needed. Check out the freezer and take some items home! Can't say enough about the crawfish pies. A bit pricey but soooo yummy!!! The staff was also nice and personable. I will be returning on my next trip! Called ahead and the lady was about to close at 6, but stayed open for us to get there in 10 minutes . She said she was a new owner and needed the business. She asked if I wanted "fixins" with my 6 lbs of crawfish. I told her it was only for 2 people and I only eat crawfish so fixins for one which she said were potatoes, corn, mushrooms and sausage. She charged me $35. When I got home, there were 2 sacks of potatoes enough for 3 -4 people, one sack of mushrooms, but no corn and no sausage. The crawfish was lukewarm, not hot. At 50 cents more per pound for the crawfish than Mandeville Seafood down the road, I will not be going back. I've always liked Northlake Seafood when the 2 ladies ran the place, but got duped with these new owners. The place has changed on the inside as well. We are really glad to have found this little gem while camping at Fountainebleau State Park. It is a fresh seafood market that also sells some cooked seafood. While it sells many types of seafood raw, the cooked selections are more limited. My boyfriend had the shrimp platter which came with quite a few fried shrimp, french fries and hush puppies. He raved saying it is the best fried shrimp he has ever had. I opted for a soft-shelled crab po' boy and a cup of seafood gumbo. The crab was tender and only lightly breaded. It was delicious. Very special po' boy bread. The gumbo had a lot of seafood and was nicely spiced but I prefer my gumbo a bit more on the spicy side. They also have some meat po' boys and boiled shrimp and crawfish. We saw many pounds of crawfish headed out the door by what we presumed to be locals. Next trip we both had shrimp po' boys and we tried the potato salad. The po'boys were excellent and the potato salad was almost as good as my Mom's and that is a high compliment. If you are in to spicy sauces, pick up a jar of "Hurricane Sauce." It is mayonnaise-based with horseradish, vinegar, pickles, capers and some other good stuff. I have even eaten it on egg sandwiches. I hope to figure out how to import it back to Arizona.
