    Best crawfish ever!! Thank you!
    Carolyn S.

I found this place on Yelp. We were in the area after going to The Tulip Festival in Loranger. The Seafood Shack had a great rating so we decided to try it. Well let me tell you, they have the best boiled crawfish that I have ever had. We had crawfish, corn, potatoes, and then decided to try the fried shrimp and oysters because all the locals were eating this. We will definitely go back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The locals were so friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This place never disappoints. I've only been here a few times cause I am from Cali, but I make it a point to stop here when I am in the area. This place has the best and biggest po boys I've had in Louisiana. It's the best value. I got the shrimp and oyster po boy and later I got a pound crayfish just because I had to try it before heading back home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's one of those special hole in the wall places that I hope will last forever.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The food was fresh and delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean and gave a very laidback dining experience to me and my family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They were down to earth and friendly people. I can tell they love seafood and they love what they do!

This review is for their shrimp po boy and shrimp basket. They are really some of the best fried shrimp around here. Fried well and there are SO MANY of them! The basket has popcorn shrimp, but so many you will have leftovers. It comes with a little salad, bread and a dipping sauce / salad dressing. The 8'' shrimp po boy is just overflowing with medium sized shrimp. I sprinkled some Tony's here and there but they were pretty dang good. The bread was perfect and it was dressed really well, with plenty of mayo so you never feel like you're eating a dry po boy. For those two dishes, I would give them 4 stars! And I am confident that their other fried seafood platters / basket. My husband got the roast beef po boy. He liked it. It is the sliced type, with plenty of gravy to go with it, but we do prefer when they have the "debris" type. The side fries for the po boy were super hot and fresh, just not the kind of fries we particularly like (they reminded me of smiley fries). And the place always hits me with a smoke smell, and it's not the cutest place on earth... But we do come to eat, and we quickly get past those things and get some of the best fried seafood around here! You will not be sorry if you stop by.

This place also serves up a limited Cajun Menu which had outstanding food from what I could see...we stopped for fresh seafood to take home. The prices can't be beat by any change grocery store!! We picked up 15lbs of 16-20 shrimp, frozen red fish slabs, boil seasoning, 4 blue crabs (medium and large), French bread loaf, corn, Cajun pickles and some dipping sauces. This place is busy and looks to be chaos but it's far from that...you can get fresh seafood, supplies, drinks, and just about anything you need for a boil. The staff even gave us ice to pack up our purchases to take north. Really enjoyed the time in the line to visit with other customers and take in the place. I tried several different flavors and my favorites were the pineapple and jalapeno. They are now making their sausages available here and I picked up some right away. Lil Butcher Shoppe is located at 1910 Broadway Dr in Hattiesburg, MS, and has been proudly serving the Pine Belt region since 1991. This family-owned and operated "olde-fashioned" butcher shop offers a wide variety of fresh, high-quality meats, local products, and excellent customer service. From its humble beginnings at Tip's gas station to its current thriving location, Lil Butcher Shoppe has become a beloved fixture in the community and now making their sausages products available in stores. Their history, brothers David Lawson and Steven Dyar founded Lil Butcher Shoppe over three decades ago, drawing inspiration from their family's history in the service industry. Prior to opening the butcher shop, David worked at Tip's, a gas station named after their mother, Christal "Tip" Lawson. The family managed the various locations from the years 1974-1990. David had worked in the family's gas station business his entire life, where he learned business management and customer service skills. After serving in the Navy, Steven Dyar began working at Carroll's Meat Shoppe, Patricia (Trish) Dyar's family butcher shop in Jacksonville, FL. This is where Steve learned the butcher trade and fell in love with Trish, whom he married. In 1990, the couple decided to move back to Mississippi. Lil Butcher Shoppe boasts a vast selection of fresh, hand-cut beef, pork, chicken, and seafood. Customers can also request custom cuts to suit their preferences. In addition to high-quality meats, the shop offers a range of homemade items, such as: * Stuffed Potatoes (6 flavors) * Bratwursts * Boudin * Meatloaf * Smoked Chicken * Stuffed Porkchops * Stuffed Chicken * Gumbo * Mardi Gras Pasta Sauce * Casseroles * Stuffed Mushrooms & Peppers * Crawfish Pies The shop also stocks an assortment of cheeses, homemade jams, and various ready-to-bake dishes. With such a diverse array of offerings, Lil Butcher Shoppe truly caters to a wide range of tastes and culinary needs. I have already prepared a number of dishes for breakfast and dinner using several of these sausages and I'm a fan. The pineapple flavor is very good just grilled on a bun with a pineapple slaw and the jalapeno one is great with beans. I have more ideas and there's lots of ideas. Bottom line: Lil Butcher Shoppe has stood the test of time as a family-owned, community-oriented establishment in Hattiesburg, MS. Offering an extensive array of high-quality meats, homemade dishes, and local products, it remains a go-to destination for residents and visitors alike who appreciate quality and exceptional customer service.
