My laptop needed a quick and easy battery replacement, and Jane was able to do that for me when Best Buy couldn't. For the first time in a while my laptop is able to fully function without being plugged into the adapter. The service price was fair, and Jane was very clear in what would be done and when my laptop would be ready (only a couple of hours after drop off). My spacebar eventually gave out on me when I was attempting to get it repaired by other repair services stores. Johnson's computers was really nice, welcoming, and great quality of work that renewed my trust in repair services businesses. Very transparent and even told me how the keyboard replacement I needed had a small scratch/dent due to how hard it was to find the part and made sure I was okay with it! The service fee was a little bit expensive for me but hopefully I can get a discount as a loyal customer :D Johnson's computer even told me how the coolant was dried and even offered to replace it for $45 extra charge. I even searched and $45 was in fair range of the service fee including the coolant. Johnson computer was really amazing, and I recommend anyone that need services to come here as well! Jane was super responsive and helpful during my custom built computer diagnosis and repair. She kept me informed of every step of the process and was very thorough in her process. My windows failed to boot one day (Automatic System Repair didn't work as well), which originally seemed to be a Windows OS issue. However, after many hours of examining the issue, Jane found out that my primary M.2 SSD was failing intermittently. She worked her magic to recover ALL of my data on my SSD by a laborious process of heat-gunning the faulty SSD to achieve temporary access, while also disassembled my other two drives (from my motherboard, one of which was under a hefty GPU) to preserve their integrity during this diagnosis. I ended up buying a new replacement SSD which was shipped directly to her office; the entire process was transparent and smooth, and Jane's only goal was to help me fix my situation and not offer me any unnecessary charges. Overall, given the amount of time she spent on my computer, her price was super fair considering the large amount of data I had. I later realized that I needed a clean OS install (to repair some corrupted file paths/links from the data recovery process), and Jane took that all on for me at no additional cost. She also gave me some useful pointers on best practices and desktop maintenance. I have the highest praises for her professionalism, attention to detail, thoroughness and availability throughout the entire process. My laptop was pretty much completely dead before I came here. Black screen, not posting, probably water damaged, the whole deal. We went to one place before this that told us it was a motherboard issue and it would basically cost the amount of a whole new computer and would take 3+ weeks to do. I then brought it to Johnson Computer on a Monday, got a call back on Tuesday, and got my computer back good as new on Wednesday. All this costing nearly half as much as what we were quoted for at the first place. Overall: staff was very nice, they worked lightning fast, and the prices were very reasonable. The first time I went to Johnson Computers was about 8 years ago to fix a desktop standing tower. Hard drive crashed. They found the problem and fixed it within a 2 day turn around. The second time I went to Johnson Computers was last week to fix a laptop that wouldn't power on. They called me within an hour of drop off and had it fixed the next day. Both problems solved in a very timely manner and fair price. They do charge a small fee (as most places do) for diagnostics, but it's worth the final product!! I respect vendors that say no, rather than try to make a buck out of you and say yes. Johnson Computers are straight shooters ... I brought my five year old Asus laptop in because it had a broken hinge ... still works great, but the lid no longer folds down evenly. Rather than feed me a line that they could fix it, they told me parts may be an issue, they can't guarantee that once it is taken apart, they can fix it due to the scarcity of Asus parts, and that the laptop was not worth fixing. Shop is really amazing and can fix pretty unfixable issues! I was not hopeful when our Lenovo Legion Y740 gaming laptop broke, it no longer turned on and when it crashed there was literally smoke and a very strong burning smell. Got the photos from the shop that the motherboard burned up pretty badly. So it is pretty amazing that the technician here actually was able to re-circuit (?) it and got it working! seeing no problems with it so far and got also advice on how to not overheat the laptop as well. I called many data recovery service company before I brought my laptop there. I debugged and tried many things myself but my laptop had a complex issue. I found some solution online but it requires a certain device. I called many stores. None of them actually know the device, but Jane is willing to listen and is willing to work with you to find out the solution. Other stores wouldn't even listen to what I was trying to describe. I also appreciate Johnson Computers' policy on doing customers' computers in the store. So you don't have to worry about they ship your devices here and there. Throughout the data recovery process. My computer needed a lot of repairs until it finally can work properly and the data could be retrieved. They did not give up half way. I spilled water on my MacBook Pro and thought I would have to buy a new laptop. I took it to Best Buy to have the Geek Squad team look at it and they told me that they don't repair MacBooks. So I went to the Apple store and they told me they would have to send it to their tech team, and the minimum was $1500 for them to diagnose. That's not even for the repair job. If they can't fix it, the $1500 would be gone. My dad found Jane and dropped off my laptop with her. There was a lot of water damage, but she was able to get the job done within 2 weeks; she was able to recover my data as well. I was able to use those files on a loner laptop that I borrowed from my sister. After Jane fixed my laptop, I've never had any issues. She's very passionate about her job, which shows in her work. I would 100% recommend her if you've damaged your Apple laptop. Apple store is a ripoff - they just want you to buy a new laptop. read more

The owners are nice but their business isn't. I went in with my laptop that had a cracked screen and I thought all was well until after I had picked it up. First of all, the owner told me she wouldn't give me my laptop back until I left her a good Yelp review. Secondly, I got home and turned on my laptop (touchscreen Lenovo ThinkPad) which didn't have a single problem until after I took it to Johnson Computers. On the paperwork you fill out the details about your device and I did so correctly, but my laptop is no longer touch screen, runs incredibly slowly, and now the border around the screen is coming loose. When I called to ask why my laptop was no longer touchscreen, I was told that I didn't let them know that it was touchscreen and that if I wanted it fixed I would have to spend another $500 to order the touchscreen and then bring it back to Johnson Computers to be "fixed" again. Initially we thought I would have to send it back to the manufacturer to replace the motherboard since she didn't have a replacement (it was a customized gaming laptop). However, before we did that she asked me to let her try repairing the motherboard since it was going to be replaced anyway. And it worked! I own an Onkyo receiver, which has a known defect that eventually causes it to not work. To fix it, you need to reflow one particular chip, to fix some cold solder joints. I brought my receiver over the bridge to Johnson because a shop here on the peninsula said they were very good at board-level work. Jane and her husband did a great job of quickly fixing the board. They charged me a reasonable amount, and so far the stereo has worked perfectly all weekend. I'm very happy I brought it to Johnson to be repaired. I'll come back to them if I ever need board-level repair work done again. read more
