a hand holding a slice of pizza

I'm sorry, I never want to hurt a business with a bad review. I love pizza, especially pizza with everything on it. Tonight, the loaded 'expectations' have failed either John's Pan Pizza or John's Pan Pizza. I will never order from here again for the following reasons. We ordered from Uber Eats and immediately initiated the procedure to complain about an unedible order, a missing charged item. The pizza dough to our loaded pizza was half raw. No complaints on what's on top but the crust/bread is a crucial part to enjoy a pizza. I understand that if we paid extra for a fully loaded pizza it would take longer to make sure it cooks through. Not sure if they knew that. So ruined our night, only eating toppings and on top of that the caeser salad is old, very far from gourmet or fresh. Like it was sitting in a bowl the whole day and has started to wilt. We also paid for two sauces, save 1 sauce for leftovers another day but only received one. Now I appreciate constructive criticism as it makes me and my work better. Called them directly to let them know about this issue. The cook listened and then gave the phone to the manager which literally blamed the Uber driver for accusadly driving around making the dough soggy. To be clear, it was not soggy it was gooey and uncooked. The call that was supposed to help this business owner be better turned into a pass the buck situation hence this review. John's Pan Pizza will never ever get our business not recommendation. A simple sorry this has happened to you, sorry for ruining your dinner and thank you for calling as we will make sure no other patrons may have this happen to them, would have resolved this all.

Great toppings but unfortunately the pizza was raw! We called the restaurant to let them know, not interested in a refund or a replacement cause really it's too late now. We already have a bad taste in our mouths (literally). Instead of taking responsibility, they decided to blame on the Uber driver for driving around and making the pizza soggy but clearly soggy pizza and raw pizza is 2 different things. As you can see in the pictures, the bottom of the pizza is dry and the middle of the pizza is raw dough. It's ok to make mistakes but never once did they apologize and only made excuses and putting blame on others. Really disappointing on their approach. Wishing all of you better luck!

Times have changed and so has this place. I think it has replaced the old pizza place I used to order because they have a better more expansive menu but that's not all. The delivery driver I got was the owner and he was super nice! Not like that other place where the driver was all negative attitude. That turned me off and so I decided to give John's Pan Pizza another try . I was happy I did. They're trying new pizza options and the pizzas I ordered was quite good! Ok the pizza dough was ok nothing to write home about but in comparison the toppings were much better than the competitors I used to order from.

My husband and I were feeling pretty hungry as we made our way into Steveston to work at a coffee shop. We didn't want to spend a lot of money and wanted something to tide us over until dinner. We ordered two pepperoni slices and a pop for $5.50 + tax. I thought that the pizza was good enough for the price. My preference for pizza is for the crust to be crispier. This pizza was more doughy. I also am used to slices being larger. I found these to be on the small side of things. Overall, it was a decent price for some cheaper eats in Steveston if you're in a pinch.

    So delicious!

The pizza is so good here! I had it for the first time a couple years ago on Canada and have been going back since. Everything from the crust, sauce and toppings are perfect. The customer service here is also awesome. I always feel like such a valued customer. Must try this place if in the area you won't regret it.

Our visit was on a Wednesday evening around 6 p.m. Due to the construction going on around the neighborhood, it was a little challenging to find this place, even though my friend had Google Maps to help her. I was surprised that there was a restaurant, as there was not any other places around. My friend was even more surprised that there was a restaurant so close to her neighborhood! It looked like a lovely home, there was a lot of brown and orange colours throughout. When we entered, we were greeted by a friendly young lady. She took us to a seating area by the window and brought us the menu and cold glasses of water. There were so many items on the menu, it took us some time to narrow down our picks. Thankfully, our friendly waiter helped us out by providing his recommendations. Finally, we ordered an Insalata di Cesare (Cesar salad, regular size) and a large dish of Marco Polo (linguine with diced chicken breast, baby shrimp, spicy Italian sausage, and mushrooms in a spicy tomato sauce with touch of cream). When our dishes came, we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of food! We had a great time eating like queens- the salad was fresh and crisp, plus the linguine had the right balance of sauce and ingredients. Then we requested the remainder to be packed, so that we could enjoy them at home. During our meal, our waiter came by a few times to check-in about the food and anything else that we needed. We loved this place so much that we came back two days later for another dinner. As expected, the service was warm, the food was fresh, and the vibe was homey- we loved it all! Check this place out, you will love it as much as we did!

There is a big parking lot, or lots of 3hr street parking. We arrived at golden hour and there was nice lighting and views at the window. They also carry some cute merch! Food came out quick unlike what previous reviews said, but I didn't like that one entree came out much earlier than my partners - so naturally I waited for her's and by that time, the uni sauce had kind of thickened up a bit too much and the pasta had clumped a bit. Croquetes were tiny - $8/ croquette. They were nice and crispy, but the tomato sauce tasted a bit plain. Would I return? If I was in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way, and definitely not without a reservation. I think its a bit overhyped on social media.

The uni cream is on the sweeter side (as it should be) and the sakura shrimp on the saltier side. I'd go back to have either one and maybe try one with tomato sauce. The service was also great, with multiple people checking in on us. The corkage, at $20, is very reasonable and the restaurant even comp'ed our tiramisu! We will miss it once it is gone. The food was quite decent. I thought the prices were a bit inflated for just pasta, but the portion size was pretty massive -- most of us took leftovers to go. The sauces in general were a bit bland and the pasta was definitely cooked to beyond al dente, which isn't my preference for dried pasta. That said, the toppings were generous, especially for the linguine crab that I ordered (would highly recommend!). Come by before they close permanently!

It was an unmemorable experience due to what most restaurants & businesses at that time were trying to get over. The lingering effects of the pandemic were devastating to this industry & others. What had been done to all, especially the restaurant industry - shortage of staff, difficulty rehiring, cost to run businesses escalating rapidly etcetera ... made things difficult to get over. So I found eating there at that time to be kinda boring. Move over to today - 2025 & voila - what a difference. There's something on point about the vibe here at this location - Kitsilano (Kits) Beach. Our server was awesome & funky. The Kale salad delivers 100% on taste = tremendous! The Gnocchi - munch, chew & chew = ahhhh. The Sausage & Chili pizza was done right! The crust was thin & tasty. The ingredients were delicious. This one has a slight kick to it. We had a splendid time eating at the communal table (full house this afternoon & only table available or wait 1 hour) & thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. This is a cozy location where the cool people come to eat & be seen. Italian themed but so much more. If you're down here at Kits Beach & with a group of friends - I highly recommend you pop in!

The hostess said the tables in the covered patio were reserved but the group won't be coming for an hour so we can eat there if we want but we have to leave before the bigger party gets there. She recommended we sit further away on hard uncomfortable seats in the wind. What the heck? It was uncomfortable then another waitress with light brown hair came by and said "is there a problem?" I said "we would prefer to sit in the covered patio" She said it was okay but kind of made kind of a big deal about it. Treating me like I was being difficult when actually I was very polite considering how they were treating us. Reminding us repeatedly that a larger more important party is coming in an hour and treating us like we were a burden. It honestly just seemed like the servers are only thinking only about their tips and not wanting to serve a small family. She ignored our table the whole time. I didn't get any Parmesan. Because she never stopped to ask how the meal was. The server had someone bring the food. It wasn't even busy. She just didn't care. Our server basically did nothing but avoid us. The only time she was remotely friendly was when she handed my spouse the bill. Obviously fishing for tips. She asked what we are going to do after this and as I answered she looked away like she couldn't give an F. These bad servers need to go. Bad service always ruins a business. It really doesn't matter if the food is good when the servers are rude. We won't be coming back.
