Ham Capicola and Provolone Hero and Mortadella and Provolone on a roll

You can't go wrong with John's deli. I was back in Brooklyn for 24 hours (I live 2200mi away!) and this was a MANDATORY stop. That should tell you something. It's that good!

Can you find the meat? It's not as easy as you'd think.

Disappointing - in a neighborhood full of great sandwich shops, it's almost an incentive not to try a new place. You can walk 10 minutes to a couple of long time, established places that have a laundry list of 5 star reviews and sandwiches that would give you back pain trying to carry back to your house. With that said, I decided to try John's rather than hit up my typical go-to's, to see if they were worth adding to the rotation. We got a few sandwiches, and while none of them were terrible, none were anything we'd order again. The Godfather was an offer that anyone should refuse - there were literally 4 pieces of cold cuts in the sandwich, on a very average piece of supermarket Italian bread. The other heroes were hot sandwiches - which, were also skimpy but not as egregious as the pictured Godfather. They were also bland They're a local business so I hope they pick up their game, but this visit was a bust. This neighborhood has a lot of competition in this space, sandwiches like this just aren't going to get it done.

Went after Petco. So famous here, but don't think the sandwich has much flavor. Will give a try again.

Had to try the roast beef sandwich and disco fries and gotta say I actually wasn't a fan of the gravy that everyone raves about.

Boca Del Cielo - Bay Ridge Brunch Gem…read more I stopped by Boca de Cielo in the Bay Ridge area for brunch with the kids, and it turned out to be such a cozy and welcoming spot. You order your food at the front counter, and while we waited, the owner surprised us with a complimentary almond croissant since it was our first visit. It was absolutely delicious -- flaky, fresh, and easily one of the best almond croissants I've ever had. The menu has a great variety of options. We went with the steak and eggs and buttermilk street pancakes. The steak was tender and full of flavor, the home fries were seasoned perfectly, and the pancakes were fluffy and delicious. We also tried the Tropical Bliss Juice, a refreshing blend of pineapple, mango, and orange that's freshly pressed to order. From the warm decor to the amazing food and friendly service, everything about this place was fantastic. I can't wait to come back and try more items on their menu!

Today, I deviated from my norm and got the beet boost (the ginger shined through - which I loved); I got the steak wrap w/o tomatoes - definitely good. This came w/a salad (but your cheapy iceberg lettuce ;) and balsamic drizzle - all in all, a delicious meal. The seating has definitely changed the quality of the food and dranks are still fire

Open kitchen and limited amount of seats let us keep the place cozy and intimate, just like home. We make sure to buy from local purveyors, coffee roasters, and bakers." Home is where the heart is and there is nothing quite like a home cooked meal. I have to say most Bay Ridgians enjoy dining local and in our neighborhood. I love to support neighborhood gems because majority of restaurant owners here, love their clients, establish loyalty through cooking delicious food and provide consistent great customer service. I was in the mood for a " comfort food"breakfast, you know, eggs, avocado, mozzarella, tomato, deliciousness and I found it on the menu simply named "Breakfast Sandwich". Which consists of voila: Mozzarella, avocado, tomato jam, arugula, crispy bacon, dijonaise, sunny side up egg between multigrain toasts. I ordered this sans the bacon ( requested turkey bacon which they do not have). What arrived in my plate was this decadent open faced egg sandwich that looked delectable.. and was!! Let's first talk about the wheat toast: I tasted it naked and it simply melted in my mouth. The ingredients worked well together, perfect synchronicity. I used one half of the toast to sop up any fallen ingredients. Highly recommend! For a drink, I wanted something a bit different, thus, ordered the Mango Mint Peach tea, fruity with a hint of mint. Loved it and went well with the Sammy! There are lovely options besides breakfast sandwiches like quinoa, oatmeal, granola, pancakes, French toast.. breakfast is served all day and lunch is served @noon. I arrived before 12 and was told I can order breakfast or lunch. It has a cozy, intimate vibe which I love.. one where you can dine solo, or do work or read or just enjoy the fabulous food. I will make "The Common" my home away from home. Additionally, there are cooking classes in their Park Slope location; the courses look great: Italian feast, Moroccan cooking, Wine Pairing and many more. Check out their website for more info. More to come from me.. The Common is located on 9406 3rd Avenue

It took about 10-15 minutes for us to get seated and the service was so friendly. There was so many delicious dishes and I decided to go with the lebanese skillet breakfast and a cappuccino. My friend got the pulled pork bowl and we decided to get the pancake to share. The dishes came out pretty quickly and at the same time. It was so hearty and filling and wasn't heavy at all. The pancake also had a great taste and crunch from the skillet. It wasn't sweet at all so it was easier to eat. The portions are perfect! The staff and ambiance are so lovely and I'm looking forward to trying the other dishes.
