I didn't have a reservation but I showed up minutes before opening to see if I could just grab a spot at the bar or luck out with a table since 1. it's a party of one and 2. I arrived before they opened. I should have bought a lottery ticket because not only did I get a seat, I had an experience that I won't soon forget. Starting with parking. There's a lot next to the restaurant. There's also street parking. I showed up early and was the second car in the lot. There was street parking too but when I left later in the evening, I didn't see spots available then. Then there was the service. EA was aces. She was friendly. Knowledgeable. Attentive. Just go down the list of all the attributes of someone you'd like to represent an establishment in the service industry and you'd check every single box. The team was just as great. As business picked up, the team took care of little things - even just checking in to see how I was doing. Then the food. See pics. I went with all of EA's recommendations including the wine pairings and dessert. If you're a follower, you know that I recommend checking out reviews we have in common to see if our tastes align - but here are my thoughts: Started with the Ceviche. Liked the flavor, though it was missing a punch like it was muted for my taste. I still cleared the plate. I really enjoyed the fried chicken, corn bread and broccolini. I liked both the seafood and mac & cheese but felt they didn't stand out like the fried chicken an corn bread. Remember now, that's my taste buds. I inhaled the panna cotta. Dessert is never optional. I'll sum it up and say that I'd order everything I had again, just probably not the mac & cheese. It was my first meal in Savannah. First time at Cotton & Rye. It won't be my last. And I don't even live in Savannah.
