The food is has not changed over all the years. The onion rings and pizza are amazing. They both have a mama pizza style if you want to know who it compares to. There is a game room for kids. The prices are very reasonable except no refills on soda which I was a little surprised. The only downfall about this place is the amount of kids and birthday parties they pack into the dining room. It's a pizza place, so I get it. It's the parents fault not the restaurant, but the amount of little kids running around non stop was crazy. Overall great pizza and onion rings. The atmosphere is very old school and I very much like it because it had always stayed the same since I was a baby. My father passed away 3 years ago, but we've been keeping it tradition to still keep coming because we love the pizza and the memories of all the times we've been here. This place is surprisingly large- old school interior with plenty of seating with sports on various TVs. Friendly counter service. Pizza was served quickly and was both tasty and topped with a lot of toppings. Definitely someplace we will visit again. read more

Usually I like Johnny Sortino's, but as of recent they have been skimping on how much meat they put on their pizzas whether it's the hamburger ones or the pepperoni ones. I also don't like how they have been putting the pepperoni under the cheese recently. The pepperoni can't cook/crisp properly when it's under the cheese, and the cheese ends up masking the taste of the pepperoni. A lot of restaurants also do this to hide the fact that there's very little pepperonis on the pizza. They never used to do this before from what I remember. I have always came back because this place is usually known for having a lot of meat on their pizzas. The pizza still tastes okay so I'll still leave 3 stars, but it would taste even better if they didn't skimp. Hopefully they can get their act together in the near future, or get a new cook. read more

Honestly didn't even know this place was still in business just because of the odd placement of it and different hours since Covid and whatnot but my husband sent me to pickup a pizza from here and it was your typical older pizza joint. The pizza was average priced, done quickly, and tasted very good. We ordered a sausage pizza and even my husband who is from Chicago commented on the sausage that they use and how tasty it was. We don't get pizza often but I'm thankful this place isn't too far from our house ! read more

Just like the spaghetti you're itallian mama used to make! Ok, I guess I really can't make that claim because I'm not Italian and haven't ever had an Itallian mother cook me spaghetti, but I have gone to many homestyle itallian restaurants in my life and the spaghetti at Johnny Sortino's tasted just like those homemade places to me. I loved it! The price was reasonable, i got a pasta dish, a salad and a piece of garlic bread for about 13 dollars... Good sized portions, and it was delicious, I left happy and full. They do pizza too, so the next time my wife and I go, we may have to get a pizza to take home... I don't think I could go there and not order the pasta, it's was just too good. One last comment, Johnny Sortino's closes at 6 pm... I know, that's early, so you will need to get there before that time to try this place out, and the parking lot looks packed, but most of the cars are for take out, there is plenty of room for inside dining, and the ordering process is pretty fast, so don't get too worried when you get there and you have to park in the back.... I Love this place I've been going here my whole 41 years I've been on this earth even from the womb my mother ate here well pregnant with me. I'm So disheartened to find out that they are closing and no one's doing anything to save it. The place may not be perfect to everyone but it is to me and my family if I had the resources to save it I would. Thanks 2020 for making a wonderful place as this go down hill and be added to the family business graveyard. We shared many big family moments here birthdays as kids then adults. Seeing my nephew and niece enjoying birthdays here having a family dinner here the day I was married. And so many other times when I just needed my favorite pizza to bring me a smile and feel the past of happy times once had in those walls. I want so much to see you saved and it's killing me that I can't. You deserve to be saved and made even better for a future Omaha generation. Pizza was good but the counter person taking our order was not friendly, then they called out our # for the cheese garlic bread we ordered, making my husband wait before asking him why he was standing there, then telling him they didn't call our #. When they called it (for the 2nd time) my hubby went to the counter to get it, he was told they already gave it to him! So they must have given our bread to someone else while they made him stand there the 1st time. We ordered a pitcher of coke since they don't give free refills, we only got 2 1/2 small cups out of it since the pitcher was filled to the top with ice. read more

interesting how there are several 5 star reviews that have been updated in the last few months that have replies from over a year ago. guessing the original review was done by an employee that still works there. anyway, both last year and this year my organization has contacted the management here for an even we have had theee in the past, that attracts 100/150+ people. they know our group well and knows the numbers we bring in, and the money we spend. knowing they have been closing at 6 for 3 years now, we contacted them seeing if we could reserve the place for the event. keep in mind the manager we spoke with, knew our group well, but wouldn't budge. he wouldnt even consider it, even tho we were contacting them 3 months out. It's very sad they are still using the excuse of no workers 3 years later. They seriously need to look at altering the hours to include a dinner crowd until at least 8pm. read more

Been going here for over 30 years. An absolute staple for generations. They drastically cut their hours during Covid and kept them there. What was the place to go following any sporting event is gone. The food is very good. It's 4-5 star food! Absolutely the best pizza, hands down! I stumbled on to it by accident, and I've never regretted it. I'm hooked on the "hockey player" special (sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, extra cheese). I live in Lincoln where there are pizza places almost on top of each other. Nobody can even come close, even when ordering the hockey player toppings. Every trip I make to Omaha includes bringing home a pizza from Johnny Sortino's. I've even made a special trip to just get pizza! Am I crazy or what? My only complaint is your hours; you need to be open later, every day too. You should consider bringing your business to Lincoln too. read more

Now this is an old school pizza parlor! This small Italian kitchen is well priced and has some great lunch specials. You get a beverage, individual pizza, and a side salad for $7.99. The staff was working hard to get through the lunch rush and we really nice. We went in with a large group and had very little wait time. Have been going to Johnny Sortino's for as long as I can remember. How long? Spaced Invaders was in the game room, Pac Man, and Donkey Kong, we're talking as in brand new games. Excellent Pizza and Onion Rings. The sauce, the cheese, the ingredients all taste fresh and blend well together. Whenever we stop in to eat, there is always the rush of memories of getting the great food and a pitcher of pop, and great times. If you've been around long enough, you may fondly remember, as I do, the delicious pizza that was served by 1980's Pizza Hut. So good. Until, starting somewhere around the mid-90's I think, they farked it all up in favor of a fast food-themed emphasis. Now, Pizza Hut tastes like the inside of the plastic bag that the ingredients were frozen in, because that's what it is. BEHOLD! For all is not lost, my friends. I'm not saying that Sortino's is the best pizza you'll ever eat, because that is subjective. I will say that it's the best pizza *I've* ever eaten. This place scratches my old-school pizza place itch in a way that none of those soulless modern pizza chains can even come close to doing. I can also say, without reservation, that it is the most similar to high-quality 80's Pizza Hut that you will probably be able to find these days. Fresh, chunky ingredients. Always hot. Never too greasy. Fast, friendly service. There are only two downsides. If you choose to dine in, their restaurant is almost always packed and often VERY loud due to the kids running around all over the place (which exactly matches 1980's memories of Pizza Hut even more). Was curious about this place for awhile because of the limited hours, I wasn't able to get a pizza. Today the timing lined up and I got an order of cheese sticks and sausage pizza. Cheese sticks were perfect. The breading and sauce were on point. The pizza again was amazing, what set it apart from places like mamas or Oscars was the crust. It wasn't to crunchy nor to soft. Growing up, my family never went on vacation or out to eat much but we did go to Sortino's periodically. That was back when there was a location on 72nd Street and they used to give full sized Hershey bars with almonds for dessert when you left. As a kid, that was the best part! So when I think of Sortino's I think of family. My extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) likes to get together there a couple times a year because it's a family tradition and great for accomodating a large group. Also, the younger kids that get bored easily can take off and play video games. My favorite is the Johnny Surprise but I haven't had a slice of pie there I haven't liked. It can get pretty noisy and loud because there are usually many large groups there so not the best place for date night or a private conversation. The dinner side salads are pretty good but I remember them being better years ago (I think you have to ask for the cheese on top now otherwise it's just plain iceberg lettuce and an olive). My family likes this place so much we all went there after my grandma's funeral and had a party because it's what she would have wanted. read more

Very yummy! Got two pizzas and some mozerrallh sticks. Mozzarella sticks are prefect, the marinara sauce is a sweeter sauce, the double crust pizza looks like a calzone, and the Johnny's favorite was really good (like a supreme pizza). read more

Food: 4 Service: 1 This is not my first time at Johnny Sortinos but as far as this experience it is a mixed review. I loved the pizza and onion rings which is what we got. The whole family got a large 4 meat pizza, medium pepperoni pizza, onion rings, hot wings, a burger, and French fries all for about $80. The 4 meat pizza was really good, my only thing is I would like the ham pieces a little bit more cut up. The kids always say it's their favorite pizza and honestly I like it pretty well too. The onion rings are nice and crispy with light breading. Now on to why it was rated three stars, immediately when we walked in we heard the person behind the counter say "we just a like a whole party walk in" with a extremely condescending tone to which her friend replied "are you serious". I understand that sometimes these conversations happen in the food industry but to have it in front of customers is intolerable. The poor attitude continued with disrespect every time we went to the counter for anything including being told "hold on" while asking for ranch. read more

What used to be a family favorite was anything but tonight. Stopped in with my family of four and the wife's parents. It was sad to see how dead it was for a Saturday late afternoon. We tried to sit by the bar as we wanted to encourage some drinks with dinner. We were met by wait staff that said the tables needed cleaned and we needed to sit in another section. We went to the other section on the other side of the building. Since we had 6 people, we tried to pull together a couple of 4-tops. We were then told, by the same wait staff person, we are not allowed to move any tables and need to use the set ups they have. Maybe a bit hangry, but I was really getting frustrated just trying to sit down! If you have ever been to Jonny Sortino's, you know how big it is. There was less than 10% capacity. I have never seen a restaurant be less accommodating just trying to seat a party of 6. When we finally made it to a table, it felt disgusting. We asked the wait staff about cleaning it. He said it was clean; it's just the spray they use. After all that, the food was excellent and the reason we love to go there. I know COVID is tough and most likely the reason for the staffing issues. I sure hope a family favorite can turn the corner. read more

Stopped at Johnny Sortino's for lunch while on that side of town. Large restaurant with a vast seating area inside. Appears to have been around for awhile. Inside is nothing to speak about. Simple tables and chairs with a number of TV's mounted around the ceiling and an area with video games. Place your order at the counter, receive a ticket and your number is called when the food is ready for you to pick up. Daily lunch special is pretty reasonable. 6 inch personal pan pizza with one topping, a salad and a drink for $6.50. You can also get spaghetti with sauce or meatball, salad and drink for the same price. I got the pizza and salad. Salad is typical. Just lettuce and a couple of black olives. Pizza came out several minutes later (not long at all). Taste was decent. Would eat here again, but not go out of my way to dine here. Johnny's also carries a number of other sandwiches, specialty pizzas and simple pastas. read more

One of my all time favorites. It is usually the first or second place that comes to mind when someone suggests pizza. I know it is a thicker crust type of pizza but the sauce is great, toppings are good and you just can't beat mozzarella and romano cheese on top (with extra romano for me). The salads are simple but good - italian dressing is great. Honestly I am not a fan of their onion rings but who cares - more room for beer and pizza! read more
