Wasn't excited when I placed a pickup order for 3 items and 2 out of the 3 were disappointing to say the least. The Route 66 Burger was the only thing I could actually enjoy, minus the mayo sauce being too much so I took some off. My drink was the wrong flavor and their takeout cup portion is abysmal in comparison to what is typically expected. The Bacon Cheese Fries I ordered, had been refunded by them because of whatever reason and I found out later it's because they gave it as Cheese Fries. It's appreciated that they refunded it already but I could've done without the Cheese Fries since they refunded me. TLDR; I wouldn't recommend coming here for the food, but maybe just some place cool on a hot day to let kiddos run and play in the ROC N Fun arcade section. read more

This is not Johnny Rockets from the mainland, unfortunately. The food and service was great and fast. You won't get the milkshakes in the metal cups with the leftovers. The feel is very different since it's connected to the arcade. We didn't use the arcade, so we have no opinions, but it did look fun with lots of game varieties. I wish I got our servers name, but he was amazing. The kids just wanted to get a quick bite to eat along with some shakes. We went in as a party of 8, we had to wait a little to be seated as there was birthday party just finishing up and they didnt have a table that could fit our family. We didnt mind waiting as the kids were playing games while we waited. our order was taken quiet quickly and our server was very attentive to each of us. 5 stars for their service, but I want to say 3-4 stars for their food. My brother is home for the holidays, so we were hanging out one day at Ka Makana Ali'I and decided to get some lunch. He happened to notice that they have a Johnny Rockets on their property and suggested we go there. He had visited their location on the mainland in the past and loved the nostalgic feel of an old time diner. This particular location is quite fun because it's not just a restaurant. It's a Johnny Rockets Rock n Fun because there's also an arcade with games and a redemption center to win prizes. Lots of noise going on in here, so if you're looking for a quiet meal, this is not the place. I ordered the Route 66 burger that was made of Swiss cheese, grilled mushrooms, caramelized onions and mayonnaise. My brother got the Philly Cheese Steak. For our drinks, we had to get into the diner feel so we both got shakes. I got the Strawberry Oreo Crumble shake and he got the Strawberry shake. We also ordered a full order of onion rings and he got an order of chili cheese tater tots. The burgers do not come with fries, so if you want fries, you'll either need to order a side order of fries or order a full order like we did to share. First off, I couldn't believe how long it took for our food to arrive. I think it took about 30 minutes for the onion rings and chili cheese tater tots to arrive and then another 10 minutes or so for the burgers to arrive. It was not busy at all, so we were quite surprised by this. When seeing other customers get their orders later on, they received theirs much faster. There was never anything said about what was taking so long or some kind of update about how much longer it would take to get our food. The strawberry shakes were pretty good as there are actual bits of real strawberries in them. If you've got a sweet tooth, I'd recommend it. Go with the Deluxe Strawberry Oreo shake that costs a little bit more, but is worth the addition of Oreo crumbles in your shake. The onion rings were also good. They currently have regular onion rings that have the crumbles on them or the beer battered onion rings that have a smooth exterior. I'm not sure if they usually have beer battered ones because there's a special Christmas menu that they are on. I personally like crumbly coated onion rings, so I went with the regular. These are worth getting as they are pretty hefty/crunchy and don't just wilt on you within minutes as some places can do. Everything else was just alright. Definitely not worth the cost and the long wait. Service was super friendly. There was only one server, but man was he a bubbling ball of energy and delight! He even gave us a peppermint ball at the end to wish us a good day. Just for his friendliness, I gave another star for this review. Had this place been busy, I honestly don't know how he would have been able to handle it all, though. We took a quick tour of the arcade before we left. These machines don't give out tickets (as I think most arcades don't these days). You just swipe your card and if it's a game that would produce tickets, then it just adds the amount of 'tickets' you won to your card. There's a good variety of video games, 'ticket' producing games and a merry-go-round ride. Quite honestly though...with all the other food options at Ka Makana Ali'i, I wouldn't choose to come here again. If it was just a restaurant, I don't see how they would manage to stay in business. Johnny Rockets is a cross between Chuck E Cheese, Dave & Busters, and an old fashioned diner, so expect a noisy, chaotic atmosphere. The kids were running wild having a great time. We ordered several pizzas, tater tots, and fries. Everything was good, nothing special or above-average. My only complaint was that it took a while to order a drink at the bar, and when I ordered a "crown & Diet Coke" she gave me a crown & root beer. They seem a little short-staffed. One I ordered, only chopped onion, bacon and shredded cheese. That's it. I got relish, ketchup, mustard and a bunch of crap I did not select.. Supervisor said "they all come like that". I needed to remove the items I didnt want through Doordash. Except there is no remove selection only an add selection. Came here with a large group. I had no idea you could drink here! But hey, fun for adults and children! Junk that they don't serve individual pizzas. Only while pizzas and this flat bread that I turned into a pizza. The sauce on it was really disgusting. Tasted like tomato paste. The burger was very delicious though. Nicely cooked and put together! I really enjoyed the burger. Chicken strips and fries were pretty regular. What upset me was the price is ridiculously high! Customer service was good but they did lack employees and needed help with tending to customers and keeping track of people coming in and going. Absolutely loved my experience at Johnny Rockets Diner! It's a fantastic spot to enjoy football while the kids have a blast. He was so accommodating since we were dining with a fussy 2-year old, and he was super knowledgeable with helping me decide what to eat. The prices are very reasonable. Came in as a reward for my daughter's school accomplishments. We had to get our own menus, and seat ourselves. We sat at the bar to avoid waitress having to walk, no customer service at all. Ordered a beer (on tap) and got actually served 80% foam and immediately walked away. Had the nachos (cheese and chili were cold) and onion rings (soggy, but warm). Gave it a second chance and ordered a Pacifico bottled beer, straight out of the refrigerator it was warm. Very unacceptable. (Waitress was "Sam"). Took junior to play some games and grab a quick lunch while we were there. The price for his food wasn't too bad and it came with a drink, that's not pictured. Considering, the last time we got food here was shortly after they just opened and the food was not the greatest but decided to give it a try again, so he could eat and continue playing games. Surprisingly enough, the burgers and fries tasted good, and he loved it. He loves burgers and fries. But i didn't realize you had to pay extra for cheese on his burger, which I don't have a problem paying for but they didn't tell me, I had to pay extra when they asked if I wanted it like the picture. Been here a handful of times just to order their milkshakes to-go (delicious btw), but today we decided to change it up and get food as well. Ordered the Route 66 burger (Swiss, mushroom, and caramelized onions), small chili cheese fries, small bacon cheese fries, and their smokehouse burger (bacon, onion rings, cheddar, and their bbq ranch sauce). Didn't get any pics of the Smokehouse bc my bf devoured it. My Route 66 burger pretty good. I give it a 8/10. Fries were equally good. Maybe a 7 or 7.5/10. Not skimpy on the toppings at all. Bread on both burgers was super soft. I honestly enjoyed our meal. And the milk shakes were the icing in the cake. My fave is the Hershey's strawberry shake. We came here on a Thursday to take our little niece to play some games. She had the time of her life. We got here at about 12 pm. It wasn't busy at all. They ask for your vaccination cards. We waited a while for someone to finally attend to us. It was hard to believe with it being slow when we arrived. Once we were welcomed, we were sat at a table and we decided to get some lunch. The bacon cheddar tots were ok. They were delicious but the bacon tasted like fake bacon and I wish they were fresh. They crispy chicken sandwich was very good. It wasn't greasy at all. Also the chicken tenders were great. Our niece loved the fries too much to even eat the chicken tenders. My boyfriend paid the bill but asked if we could keep the table for our drinks since we couldn't have them around the games. Once we were done, we gathered our drinks but realized we didn't redeem her tickets so we said "we will be right back but we're gonna leave these here" the busser said "ok" but when we came back our drinks were gonna and we assumed he threw them away. After a rocky start it ended well. Went to a birthday party there and the reserve seating was squishy. They put three chairs which the table seats two on each side. Since it the place was pretty empty at 10:30 am we confiscated another table to spread out. The service was good. The food and drinks we ordered came minus our shakes. This Johnny Rockets has the Rock 'n Fun games and activities in the same location. Keep that in mind if you want to come here and eat. Came here to grab a quick bite, since it had been probably at least 15 years since I'd eaten at a Johnny Rockets and my husband wanted to try it out. We sat at the counter and ordered our burgers- The Rocket single, meat and Gardein versions. We also ordered cheese fries to share and got some Cherry Cokes to wash it all down. Food came fairly quickly. The Gardein burger was okay, not my favorite. It was a black bean patty so it had a southwest kind of kick to it. The order of cheese fries was huge. I would advise ordering the cheese sauce on the side as the fries were drowning in it and got so soggy after only a few bites. The service was fine at the beginning, and friendly throughout. My only gripe with service was because of the Little League game, the servers weren't really paying attention to the customers. I'm a fan of Johnny rocket's typically and this was my first time coming to this location. It has an arcade attached together, so it's an overall family-friendly place. Games for kids, drinks for adults, and food for everyone. We ordered burgers, fries, and shakes. No complaints there. I got my usual: the Route 66 (sub mayo for the special sauce). These burgers were great and just the right size. We were thinking of getting some of the happy hour specials (appetizers), since we saw the special after scanning the QR code at our table. However, when we asked about it, they said the happy hour doesn't work for food on Saturdays, just the drinks. But the website says the specials run Thursday through Monday. So not sure what's happening there, but they did not honor it. In terms of the environment, it's okay. It seems like they may have taken out some of the seats and spaced out the tables from each other. The only table left for us was closest to the bar. While we were a good distance away from the next table, we were not too far away from the bar. They took away the stools from the bar on the side that our table was (probably to keep people further apart), but people were still hanging out on that side of the bar, so they were standing pretty close to us. We got a a bit uncomfortable at one point and wanted to move. Eventually the bar people moved away, but it's definitely not the safest. Overall, the food here is good. But I would much rather prefer going to one of the other locations without the kid games and the bar. read more

Fun place for the kids. We took our son here for his birthday. He patiently waited to play games. First we ordered pizza and a drink. Pizza was alright, didn't have the wow factor but it hit the spot since we were starving. He had fun playing the many games they had. I spotted the owner of EK Fernandez inside. After finish playing they seated us pretty fast and our waitress was really nice and recommending the kids menu to the kids and a few of her favorite burgers she liked for us adults. We ordered a grilled cheese from the kids menu and another grilled cheese regular. We also got onion rings and bacon cheddar tots. We ordered the mini burgers as well. The onion rings and the tots tasted great. The grilled cheese was okay but not bad. Our waitress made a sun with a happy face out of ketchup for the kids to dip their French fries on. They didn't want to ruin the suns face but it had to happen haha. They made it really enjoyable for the kids and even if you're not there to eat it's a good place to bring your kids as well. I don't know if this place is very understaffed or they're just scheduled that way, but my family & I came in on a THURSDAY night and it was busy. There's a sign when you walk in that says "wait to be seated" as we did, for maybe 7-10min. No waiter in sight, but I've made eye contact multiple times with the cook as he peaked through the kitchen window as with anyone else who's already been seated just staring at us standing there. Up until my brother went around looking for an employee towards the back of the store!! Birthday parties, multiple parties of 5+, guys sitting at the bar with only 1 server, 1 cook, 1 young dude I guess was the janitor, & two employees ONLY manning the arcade prize booth. Finally got seated & things finally went a bit smoother... we were quickly served with menus & pitchers of ice cold water. Again, we weren't seen for a bit which was fine because the kids wanted to play games first. I wouldn't really give this more than 4 stars for the food, which was unremarkable, but this is one of those instances where the exuberance of the server totally made up for the mediocrity of the "Route 66" burger (although the fries were quite good). Our server Khrysta was warm and welcoming, made money-saving suggestions, and created ketchup art on the plate. As if that wasn't enough, I left my credit card in the restaurant and she actually came and hunted me down in the mall to return it. A small thing, I suppose but is saved me a second trip from Hawaii Kai to Kapolei. #114 of 2017 We came here because they close late. My night companions were looking for a little something to eat with a $5 shake. Think Pulp Fiction without the Royale with cheese. The $6.29 Rocket Dog looked interesting. An extra long hot dog, grilled, on an a New England style bun. Choose what condiments suits your fancy. So, it was delicious but nothing that knocked me over. Don't agree with the price point but everything else okay. Chili Bowl $4.99 was not bad. It came with the traditional crackers but I prefer rice with that. It was a nice size for the price. It's not spicy hot. I added hot sauce to it to kick up a notch for me. The ice cream being used is close to soft serve if not. That makes their shakes and floats pricey but they're pushing close to as if it were quality and it simply is not. The $5 shakes are long gone. Inflation has pushed the price higher. The Oreo Cookie Shake, $6.29 deluxe was a soft sweet creamy shake. Nice. Enjoyed it but preferred it to be more thick. At that price I think there's room to do that. So yes, it was good but at that price I might as well get a 5gallons of vanilla ice cream then I can do what I want with it including making my own delicious shake. A regular vanilla shake $5.99 was horrible. It looked like they added the ice cream into the cup of milk and didn't even bother mixing it. Then, topped it with the whip cream. I had to mix it up myself to get as close to a proper shake. Not ordering this again. Rootbeer float $4.79 wasn't that big. It was okay if you can finish it before the ice cream melts. I don't really care for it once it melts and mixes with the rootbeer. Sorry. It was nice to sit there with friends amd discuss the important things in life like the movie we just watched. They do open late and have a bar. The noise level can be higher than average at most places. During the day this can be nice place to hang before or after a movie.
