The atmosphere is real, warm, and inviting. The craftsmanship of the bar, the energy of the room, and the welcoming staff create a vibe that is incredibly hard to replicate. The whiskey selection is absolutely phenomenal. If you appreciate Irish whiskey, this place is paradise. Their collection is one of the most impressive in South Florida and the bartenders truly know their craft. The food deserves just as much praise. The shepherd's pie is honestly something to die for. Rich, comforting, and perfectly balanced. The fish and chips are fantastic, the classic pub dishes are executed beautifully, and every plate feels authentic. Then there is the live music. The atmosphere during live performances is electric in the best way possible. It is lively, fun, and full of energy while still being a place where you can enjoy conversation and great company. But what truly transforms a great place into a perfect place is leadership. That is where Anna comes in. I first met Anna years ago when she was managing at another venue, and I witnessed firsthand how she handles people and situations. Her professionalism, calm leadership, and ability to create a welcoming environment stood out immediately. When I discovered she had become the General Manager here, I was excited to visit again. The transformation since she took over has been remarkable. The energy of the staff, the attention to detail, and the overall experience reflect the leadership behind the scenes. Anna is the heart of this place. As someone who manages a large company and hundreds of employees, I can say with complete honesty that she is one of the most impressive leaders I have ever seen in action. She leads by example, treats people with respect, and creates an environment where both staff and guests feel valued. There is something almost unbelievable about her positivity. Every time I see her she is smiling, welcoming guests, and making sure everyone is having a great experience. It is contagious. You leave feeling happier than when you arrived. That kind of leadership is rare. John Martin's is already an incredible establishment with amazing food, incredible whiskey, and one of the best atmospheres in Coral Gables. When in Miami last month, my friend Rick D. invited me out to drinks with some friends at John Martin's. I expected a typical Irish Pub but was way off as over the holidays (and perhaps always), this place is all kinds of colorful and fun with holiday lights, loud music and a huge Miami crowd! We were able to get drinks at the bar and find a place to sit for a few (although I don't think the server was happy we sat there and maybe we were not supposed to). I genuinely enjoy coming to John Martin's--the ambience is great, it has a classic Irish pub feel, and it's a place I want to love--but this visit, like a previous one, had some notable issues that affected the overall experience. Our first server seemed extremely stressed and scattered throughout the night. I completely understand that the holiday season is busy, but he felt disconnected, rushed, and didn't take much time with our table. He also didn't seem very familiar with the menu, which became more noticeable as the evening went on. One of the bigger frustrations involved the whiskey menu. I ordered an Irish whiskey listed at $18, only to be told it was actually $36--and then found out they didn't even have it in stock. It felt like the entire whiskey menu was outdated and not properly maintained. On top of that, we were told they were in the middle of changing chefs, which meant several menu items were unavailable. While I understand transitions happen, these things combined were disappointing and made the experience feel disorganized. This unfortunately isn't the first time. We visited last year during the Christmas bar season and had similar issues--drink presentation wasn't consistent, and general server knowledge of both the menu and cocktails felt lacking. That said, there were positives worth mentioning. After I voiced my concerns about the whiskey pricing, the staff handled it well. They comped our first round of drinks, which was a thoughtful and appreciated gesture, and offered to get me whatever I wanted from the whiskey menu afterward. The manager personally came by to check on us, and we were assigned a new server for the rest of the evening. He was excellent--attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure we felt taken care of for the remainder of the night. I really think this restaurant would benefit from better staff education, especially when it comes to menu knowledge and whiskey offerings--perhaps even a basic whiskey training for servers. Keeping menus updated and ensuring consistency in food presentation is also important to me. I often look at photos before ordering, and it's frustrating when a dish comes out looking vastly different from recent pictures. Overall, I do love the space and atmosphere here (I'd even love to hear a bit more Irish music to enhance the vibe), and I think John Martin's is a great restaurant at its core. It just feels like it needs stronger attention to detail and possibly tighter management to ensure consistency. I'll still come back, but I hope to see some improvements next time. read more

Had a couple of nights in Miami prior to a cruise looking for a place to enjoy a pint of Guiness. We found this location on Yelp and decided to give it a try. It was busy but we managed a couple of bar seats-- The friendly bar staff had us taken care of in no time. The Guiness was excellent no rookies here. The pizza flatbread was actually really delicious! I was expecting it to be an ordinary flatbread, but this one was tasty and had a great amount of cheese. The espresso martini was good, but it wasn't my favorite espresso martini. Note, they have a late night, limited food menu. So, some dinner options are not available at any time. I do also love that they have a charity burger where they partner every month with a new charity, and any time that burger is sold, they donate some of the proceeds to that respective charity. The service at the bar was good and helpful. The place itself is super cute! It's a nice, beautiful Irish bar. They have large screens at the bar to watch football games. They have a section for darts. The outside as an Irish pub feel. The inside is more upscale than an Irish pub. The location is in the Gables. So, you have to park on the street or in a garage. Therefore, be prepared to pay for parking and finding a spot to park. read more

I found this great Irish pub on Miracle Mile on a stroll. I decided to walk in because they had a cool vibe with the long bar and music. I'm glad I did because it turns out they make the second best fried chicken wings I have ever had. But to top it off, it was a Tuesday and they had a $1/wing special. Lucky me. Then Melissa told me about the whiskey flights (4 of them) so you can try different variations, including Japanese. (She was very nice so kudos for the experience). I opted to buy individual shots so I wouldn't be limited to just one type (plus I always think flights are more expensive per ounce than just buying the shot). I will say that this place definitely has one of the best curated and high quality whiskies I have had. Another plus, unlike Calle Ocho or Miami Beach, this place didn't automatically add 20%+ in their bill without disclosing. They didn't add any default tipping. So I really would like to give this adorable Christmas decorated pub more stars. Because the vibes were perfect, the Miami dolphins were winning on the tv, and my food was super yummy. The loss of stars was for our clearly flustered server. He was constantly apologizing, forgetting, upselling, and yelling. Like twice he left our table mid order to yell at a food runner where to deliver a burger. Very detrimental to our experience. The hostess, bartenders, and back waiters were all pleasant and efficient. My fries and classic burger w the truffle fondue subbed for cheddar were both solid 10's. The potato soup was a good portion and delicious. Greek salad with chicken good but not outstanding. If we had a different server this would've been a great experience. This is a nice Irish pub. I was there for a burger activity. The music a bit loud for talking. The burgers were good but they were overcooked and cold. They did look better than that. The fries were cold and scant. The service was kind of lousy, getting the cooking temps wrong and bringing out less food than what was ordered. It was hard to get water to the table also. John Martin's still has the best Cobb salad on Miracle Mile. It's Napa cabbage based, and also includes radicchio, but let's not kid ourselves because it's all about the bacon, chicken, blue cheese, and the dressing. In this case, it's a vinaigrette, and the chicken is good and moist (cold), and the bacon really shines--it hasn't been refrigerated. I think these bacon bits are done in small batches and used shortly after. It's a great salad, probably more of a lunch thing. They call it the Irish Cobb. Oh...my...god...what has happened to this place.... this was my husband and I's favorite spot for many years as a matter fact it's where we met so I do not write this review very lightheartedly.... From the moment my husband and I walked in till the moment we left that was the WORST service and food experience we have experienced in Coral Gables. Can't decide what was worse honestly the servers flippant attitude or the quality of the food. Service: When we sat down, the server asked us if we wanted drinks, and when my husband and I both declined and asked for water his response was "really?.." in an extremely rude tone. He was very blunt and not personable in the least bit. but honestly, regardless of his personality, the worst part was when we asked for the check he just held the tablet out for payment didn't even show us the total my husband had to ask before he was charged and his exasperated response was " oh don't worry it was only $33"..... Food: My husband's burger was fine. The portions were small for the price. But alas his was edible! My Caesar salad was served with raw chicken....at this point I was just over it. I took a picture to make sure that I wasn't just seeing things..... Anyways.... John Martins has become a major disappointment in my book since they remodeled it to look like a hotel restaurant.... Visited here on a Sunday night for a quick drink. I love the irish vibe, cool modern bar/restaurant. I ordered a glass of Old Cuban ($14) and it was absolutely right on. The sweet-smokiness of rum, citrusy tart from passion fruit and the bubble from prosecco in the perfect ratio made this drink so much more enjoyable. We spent our Mother's Day here for Brunch & I can tell you the food, service, drinks and venue are amazing. I absolutely loved it and can't wait to come back. I had the Dublin hash and it was so good, my daughter and mom had the avocado toast, my oldest son had the steak & eggs & my youn son had the Irish Benedict. Everything was amazingly delicious and for desserts we had the New York cheesecake, cookies & cream & bananas & cream they were also very delicious. Having been to Ireland on vacation and experiencing a wee bit of dining at a castle and pubs a few years ago, it was a pleasure dining at John Martin's Miami version of Irish food on Saturday evening! The restaurant has been tastefully remodeled with comfy leather booths, dark cherry wood furniture, great wallpaper, and mood-changing, relaxing, darker lighting. I loved the exterior also, especially at night with the green neon lights! The interior is classy and cozy! Live music was playing great tunes in the background. The ambiance is great! The service there is excellent! The staff is as friendly as the Irish in Dublin were. They make you feel comfortable right away. We were greeted warmly by Natalie, who gave us a great booth to sit at. She introduced Marie to us, who was our server, and treated us like VIPs. She was very attentive the entire evening by checking on us frequently, filling our water glasses, knowing the menu, and clearly answering our questions. We met John, the manager, and Frank, the general manager, who were fun to chat with and took good care of us. We were also introduced to the owner, Tony, who has a great personality and sense of humor. He is very customer service oriented, which we appreciate. For our appetizer, we ordered the Irish Nachos. We expected them to be somewhat different from Mexican nachos, but these were too bland. Our suggestion is fewer chips, more seasoning and tomatoes on the veggies, and a different cheese. There were many menu choices that we were curious about, but we chose to share The Irishman 22oz Delmonico Ribeye with potatoes, crispy onions, onion bacon jam and a Whiskey Demi Glace Unfortunately, we both had grissel in our steaks. I'm sure that was an oversight and not the usual occurrence. We didn't send our steak back and just cut off the grissel. I was impressed by the quality of the steak knife, which was heavier and sharper than any I've used at any restaurant. I get irritated with wimpy steak knives that I have to press down hard with. We also shared the Fish 'n chips, which were delicious!! The fries were really good, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside and perfectly seasoned. Yummy. One suggestion: bigger pieces of cod. We accompanied our dinner with Malbec wine for me and an old-fashioned cocktaill for my daughter. Both were the right choice and were excellent. For dessert, we shared the banana pudding, which was awesome. We had quite a large doggie bag to take home :). We used the valet service for parking because of the heavy rainstorm. Came by to John Martin's while in the area. I heard they recently reopened after remodeling and decided to check it out. It definitely feels less like a pub but more of a nice restaurant. It's a very big space with nice decor and ample seating throughout the bar area and restaurant. I sat at a small high top. We ordered a beer ($8) and an espresso martini ($14) along with their fish and chips ($19). The espresso martini was quite tasty. My beer, not so much. It tasted off and then I realized it had a "best by" date from early February. So nearly 4 months off. I switched it out for a house Prosecco which was okay, not a big fan of the taste. The fish and chips were great and super fresh. The fries were perfectly crunchy and the fish was tasty with lots of flavor. Definitely would order this again! Our server was kind and friendly. Came here for some happy hour drinks which turned into a quick dinner that was very satisfying and enjoyable. To start the bartenders there are excellent and quick to your attention. They had some beers on HH special which was great. When it came down to switching over to bourbon/whiskey they sure do not disappoint. The selection there is quite elaborate with a good number of hard to find bottles. Very fortunate to have had the chance to try some of them tonight. Ambiance is as always very inviting. You got some tv TV's on with some local sports and a room full of locals post work day. Food did not disappoint. In my opinion it was excellent. Very flavorful and satisfying. They did such a great job remodeling, love the new look! There are so many highlights to mention, lets start by complimenting the bar area, i really enjoyed it and can't wait to visit for HH. The menu is great, lots of variety to try.. i tried the honey garlic wings and loved them, the meatballs were pretty good, and the duck confit flatbread with goat cheese, caramelized onion & arugula was pretty impressive. My friend and I also shared a burger, which was OK, not as flavorful as I expected. Cons: Service, why so bad? Why don't servers care at least a little? Slow, not attentive, we felt ignored.. not once did she check on us.. Beer- i ordered a Modelo, she brought me a lukewarm beer.. come on... sent back obvi. But the waitress was MIA, so it took foreeeeeeeever to find her & bring back an actual cold one. Burger- was brought overcooked, with cold fries.. sent back. Second time around it was brought as requested, but it was cold.. i just did not have time to complain.. plus waitress was nowhere to be found. This is not an Irish pub, but a nice bar with an Irish theme.... Everything on the menus have Irish-ish names. 4 Irish like things in the menu. Fish n chips, shepards pie, bangers and mash, and an Irish breakfast. With American bacon? Uh, ok. Gone is all the old wood... The dark bar feel. It was packed to the gills on Friday night. THE PLACE: Located in Coral Gables, parking is plentiful though can be tricky. John Martins is stunning (I wish my house looked like this). The outside is representative of the food/culture embraced in the restaurant and the inside is modern, cozy and impeccable. THE FOOD: My fiance had Fish & Chips 5/5 and he was over the moon with the dish! I had to try it and the fish was sooo fresh and the batter was delicious a d not greasy at all. Flavors and textures were perfect. I had the the Guinness Burger 4/5 and it was tasty but lacked sauce or something that would give it "p-zaz". I asked my waiters for a sauce that would help and he reccomended the Irish BBQ sauce. I hate bbq sauce but this was delicious! So different and gave the burger what it needed. However, the truffle fries that came with the burger were the best fries ive had! Crispy crunch thin outside and soft delectable inside. THE SERVICE: Our waiter PABLO was phenomenal! He is actually one of the best waiters I've encountered in SFL. He was so attentive, fast, kind, professional. It's a great irish bar, the crowd is mostly coral gables locals, and the ambiance is great. They have an outdoor area; it's quite large bar as well for spacious dinning area (not a dive bar). They have a full bar as well for a pretty good food menu, to be honest I've never been disappointed when ever i have visited and prices are quite reasonable for the location. It's a great place to watch sports with many televisions along the bar area. The bartenders are awesome; they offer great service and knowledge wither it might be on food or cocktails.
