Haven't been here in years. But, upon entering during Miracle on the Mile weekend, we were warmly greeted and seated at a table of our choice. Which allowed us to watch the crowds walking up and down miracle mile. We had the classic burger and the John Martin burger. Both were delicious and cooked as requested. My friend and I went for lunch and we were seated promptly. Our server was a little busy, but she was really friendly and helpful. The ambience since the renovation was very laid back for lunch on a Monday. We ordered our drinks, the Luck of the Irish and it was very tasty. We then shared the Pub Fry Trio and the Guinness Glazed meatballs. Both were really good. For the entree, we shared the club sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese. It was really good. For dessert, we shared the cookies and cream. It was delicious. Even though the service was a little slow, I would go back. I would recommend this restaurant for any meal. read more

My first time being in the new John Martins and I must say it is a major change from the old one! Completely renovated (including the bathrooms) with an updated menu. I came for lunch with my fiancé and had the Guinness burger. The burger itself was massive and alone will fill you up! The fries are more like steak fries than thin fries but they were perfectly quicker. I also got the tank IPA draft which was great as well. The beers are a little bit more pricey but still very good. We also tried an expresso martini which was made perfectly. The service team was very nice and friendly. However, they do need to improve on speed of service since most of the people coming during the week for lunch are on their break and don't have more than an hour to eat. It over all service was very good I asked about them opening outdoor seating and according to the bartenders they are in the works to make that happen and pending city approval Overall, I will come back to John Martins and think it is a very nice upscale Irish pub in coral gables read more

I love this place. The inside is HUGE, but still feels like a cozy pub. The bar area is very pretty. They have a great happy hour where you get 1/2 off all beers, whiskeys, and I believe wines too. My brother got married today and after, we came to this establishment for dinner.... Upon arriving I saw a lady (Ana a Manager) behind the counter on her phone texting, I said excuse me, I'm with the large party at the front of the restaurant can we get 2 highchairs please? She didn't hear me so I said it again, then still confused she asked me again... then she said you mean a smaller chair for under the table..... WHAT?? I'm asking for a high chair for children..... she says, with a smile and a smart ass attitude, "well now you're being clear and I can understand" (something along these lines). I responded shocked and said you know what nevermind (I must've interrupted a very important text message) I'll leave both of my kids in the stroller to eat dinner but thanks and I walked away. She proceeds to go get (one) high chair and then tries to come at me again when I asked her to just walk away and leave me alone she says (in my face) this is not how you speak to people! Lmao. (I'm so confused) so I said, I asked you to get away from me and she continued and wouldn't just stfu. It took everything inside of me to stay as calm as possible, because if you can't respect anyone's space you're asking for trouble. Then another manager (a man) comes over and after she shared her side he came over to apologize and blow MAJOR smoke up my ass and said I'm going to take care of you guys, a round of drinks for everyone, let me take care of you guys, I wanna make sure you all have a great time and leave here happy. I said just give the bride and groom a round and it's fine...... I wish it got better, but sadly it didn't. He never came by to check on the table again, no discount was given, no round of drinks, bride and groom didn't get a drink. First time at John Martin's since the reopening under new management and new decor. The decor is beautiful but very different from what I remember. Doesn't mean it's better or worse, it's just really different. Stopped in on our way back from the airport on a Sunday. The place was pretty quiet with a few people at the bar and 3 or 4 tables of diners. The timing of the food coming out of the kitchen was horrible. Unless there was one person alone in the kitchen, there was no excuse of the extraordinary time it took to get our food. I could tell our server was struggling and he even comp'd our beers because of the wait. The food was very good and this would've been a 5 star review had it not been for the slow kitchen. The server's attentiveness really made up for it. They don't have a real kids menu so we ordered the wings which they enjoyed. The shepherd's pie (actually a cottage pie) was delicious. The nachos were very good. Had the Irish Whiskey chicken and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Everything on that plate was delicious. Our vegetarian got the Guinness burger with an impossible burger and really enjoyed it. The beer was cold and nicely poured. I'm glad Yelp created a new business page for this new iteration of John Martin's, rather than just reactivating the old one as they're sometimes known to do when a restaurant or business makes major changes or moves locations. Reason being that John Martin's is not only under new and different ownership vs. the 2 guys that ran it for its first 31 years until closing it during the pandemic, but this Irish bar/restaurant was extensively remodeled both inside and out and though the layout is similar, the decor was greatly updated as were their food and drink offerings. Gone is the more rustic, lovingly worn and broken-in feel of the former John Martin's, in favor of a more upscale appearance and feel (including personalized wine and liquor storage lockers for their finest customers, similar to the ones found at steakhouses like Morton's and Capital Grille), and even the introduction of a few Latin food and drink items on the menu. In addition to the (relatively few) traditional Irish offerings on the menu, much of it is made up of sandwiches, flatbreads, salads, a few entrees and several appetizers. While they have a few Irish and other beers on tap as expected at a pub, they offer a full bar and have a leather-bound whiskey menu that's about 60 pages deep, just to list and describe them all. They have 4 TVs at the bar to watch sports and other programming, and sometimes feature DJs and musicians. Service is notably more attentive and the food is served in good time, both of which were often lacking at the original John Martin's, though long-time patrons will also note that prices have definitely increased as well, and are in-line with better Miami area restaurants. They have a late night menu and serve food until I believe 1 a.m. on weekends, though I found their late night offerings to be fairly limited and not very enticing. When they first reopened they advertised a "reverse happy hour" from something like 10 p.m. to close, but quickly did away with that, with one bartender telling us it attracted the "wrong type of clientele" and too many staff from other area restaurants would come here after they'd closed for the night, so I guess they expect "those types" to go to Flanigan's. The music can be a bit loud here some evenings, with patrons moving around the bar the last time we were here, trying to get away from the speakers and the noise. read more

I first got a taste of John Martin's at Burgerliscious, at this event I tried their Guinness Burger. The Guinness Burger is a delicious 8oz dry-aged beef patty sitting on arugula and topped off with beer brat sausage, Guinness beer brie fondue, and truffled crispy potatoes all on a pretzel bun. This burger was so delicious I had to visit their location. I got some friends together and hit this pub. The vibes in this place are absolutely immaculate. We ordered Irish Nachos, Fish and Chips, the Euro Sandwich, and the Guinness Burger. We also tried some of their cocktails, the Old Cuban and the John Martin's Mule. Oh and a couple Irish pints to get the part started. Now let's go through these one by one. Irish Nachos: These were good. The potato chips were heavy but were quickly balanced by the light beer fondue they are smothered in. The brisket is decadent but I guess if you look at it as $4 worth of brisket and not a $20 brisket nachos then the small portion isn't half bad. That being said the appetizer left me wanting more in the flavor department. The nachos are good but I don't think I would order them again. Fish and Chips: The fish and chips were beautiful. My only wish was that they had a thicker crust but nonetheless they were delicious. The fish definitely speaks for itself. It came with a side of tartar sauce and a roasted lemon. This was a great plate but the portion was definitely a little small for $20. The Euro Sandwich: I must admit that I didn't get to try this sandwich but it looks as good as it sounds and my friends definitely seemed to enjoy it! The Guinness Burger: The very reason I came here! This burger did not disappoint... even though they definitely did not give me enough cheese (I said this to the waiter and it was quickly rectified). The meat was juicy and the sausage, delicious! The cheese was decadent and keeps the plate balanced. After eating this burger I didn't feel heavy or greasy. I'd definitely get this again but not before trying their signature burger. The cocktails were delicious and the Irish pints were definitely fun. I will be back for more and with more people! Sooo the food was very lame, like the burrata was not creamy and was cold, had only three toasts, for 18$ it's not worth it. The sirloin was ok not very seasoned, but the risotto it came with was sooo yummy. The fries was so good and the Caesar salad was good but not the best I've ever tried. Their house wine was very good and affordable, which saved the dinner and the dj was sooo fun, very fun atmosphere. Also the waiters and staff were soooo nice and fast. I wish I could give John Martin's five stars but unfortunately I cannot and for two main reasons: some of it was due to the food, most was due to the ambience, specifically the music. My family were on our last day in Miami on vacation before our seven day cruise. We originally are from Miami but we moved to Ohio back in 2019. John Martin's was on our list to visit for a long time but we never did go while living in Miami. We decided while we were here again to try this place out. We had just watched a play and took a Lyft to the restaurant. We walked in and immediately our ears were assaulted by the one man band playing at the restaurant. He was loud, he was awful. We actually walked out and talked about whether we wanted to go back in. It was very late and a lot of the restaurants were closed and we did not want to just randomly take a lyft to someplace that may be closed, so we just hoped to make the best of it. We walked back inside and they quickly found us a table. We ordered our appetizer of the Guinness glazed meatballs and drinks. The sound even in the back of the restaurant was atrocious. The man was trying to play rock classics which I love and they were so bad, i was tempted to pay the dude to stop. Our app arrived and they meatballs were juicy, flavorful and delicious! We then ordered our main courses. My mom ordered Shepherd's Pie, i ordered Irish Whiskey Chicken Breast and my brother ordered a Guinness Burger. Thankfully, right around we got our main courses the guy stopped playing music. My brother and I immensely loved our meal, my mother did not enjoy her Shepherd's Pie, a meal she normally adores. I came here on a Friday night with my colleagues and we ordered a few plates to share. The nachos were cool, as the chips were homemade, but it didn't come with any meat. We also shared some fries, which were delicious, but the giant full rack of baby back ribs left a lot to be desired. It was merely warm and I didn't taste any smokiness to it, perhaps it was baked? The corn was also pretty tasteless, as was the mashed potatoe. I really wanted to like this place but past the decor and the service, I wouldn't really come back for the food. That could explain why this place was less than half full on a Friday night. This place is changed and they took advantage of us today. We have been customers for 40 years, before remodeling it, we enjoyed a nice neighborhood bar. Today we went and my husband accidentally spilled his new served drink. He went and explained the server. He said no problem and he served him a new drink. We didn't look at the bill and paid his tip as usual. When we got home and looked at the bill we realized he also charged the drink that my husband wasn't able to drink. We trusted he understood it was accidentally. We will not return. Prices are out of control anyway and servers are not friendly. They don't even prepare good drinks anymore. I love the new remodel of this place. The classy decor and retro music playing create a very nice ambiance. The food is delicious. I only wish they had more healthy options. They wouldn't let me substitute the potato salad for carrots with the branzino. So my only options are the kale salad and ahi tuna salad. They are both quite palatable. I took a bite of my dinner partner's duck flatbread. It is a decadent delight. I'll definitely be back on a day that I want to splurge on calories or when they start allowing substitutions. I have to say, I'm so impressed how they redid this restaurant. This used to be a old dingy dark looking Irish pub pre COVID. And now it's beautiful total renovations 360! You will not even recognize this place. We came for brunch and it was delicious all the food we had was great. The service was top notch and the atmosphere is so calm and nice. I still recall when the original opened. We frequented john Martins for years and we're very sad when it closed. So is this new version a worthy successor.In one word YES! The interior is very much and nicely updated version or the original (well the second and longest version of the original) the bar remains and is still the focal point. They still have some high top tables on the floor but the improvement is in the upper level dining room. It now has some really nice booths and is totally open to the bar area. As to the food we had the fish and chips and the salmon. The fish and chips were a very well done version. You get 3 large pieces of a very fresh and perfectly breaded haddock along with very good fries. The salmon was excellent. Nicely cooked sitting in top of a cheese grits with potatoes. An excellent dish. The black and tan was perfectly done with a nice head in it. Service was on point ab attentive. There is live music after 9 from Thursday to Saturday but we just missed it. Met a fellow Yelper and friend at this newly renovated pub for a weekday lunch. I hate to give them a low rating but the ball was fumbled a lot especially when it comes the service. We were seated right away because truth be told it was noon and the joint wasn't packed so that's a good start. Then it just went downhill as soon as we were seated. My friend and I both asked for beers and hers came warm in a warm glass so we had to send it back but agreed that the waitress should've noticed that when she brought it. She was MIA most of the time even though the food came out pretty fast. Even to get the check at the end we had ask a different waitress to go print out our check so I hope they read these reviews and work on that a little. Now let's talk about the food that was good for the most part... Duck flatbread: I enjoy a good flatbread and then you see "duck" and I automatically get excited because I love "duck" anything. Dough was nice and crunchy as it should be, I loved the duck confit, fig jam and goat cheese combo so it was an explosion of flavors on every bite. Gunnies Glazed Meatballs: listen even if the meatballs weren't as delicious as they were, these grits would've saved the dish. The Guinness glazed meatballs were delicious but the grits topped with melted cheddar cheese was the star of the show. I would've order just the grits alone if I had known how flavorful and perfectly cooked it was so yeah this is a must try. Chicken Wings: my friend couldn't get enough of these wings and I have to agree with her...some of the best wings we've had and they weren't breaded. Tossed in honey garlic and cooked to perfection, these are also a must have. Guinness burger: we'll we had an issue with the burger . We ordered it medium and it came out medium well so we had to send it back after waiting a long while for the waitress to show up. Again, as a server you have to pay attention to what you're doing because you could tell from a mile away that meat was over cooked. So burger comes back and it was decent, wasn't dry, meat was flavorful but honestly that beer sausage is overkill. I mean it doesn't make it or break it but it doesn't add anything to that burger. I would replace the sausage for bacon and maybe it'd elevate it a bit. I'd consider this good bar food and most of it was delicious but this service needs work asap, that's all I'm saying. read more

The decor and ambience didn't feel like a normal pub, rather a bit more sophisticated, which is personally what I prefer. I've been meaning to try the newly renovated John Martins. After being closed at right after covid I didn't think they were going to reopen. We came in after work and the only items available was the late night menu. The updated restaurant definitely has a great ambience. The table side was closed but they had a couple of high tops and the bar open. The decor is really great and it was cold inside which is a nice plus also. We are not big beer drinkers so we ordered some margaritas instead. We ordered a watermelon and passion fruit. Margarita which honestly just tasted like juice and didn't seem to have any alcohol in it at all. This is the reason for my four-star review instead of giving them a five star review. I know they are a pub, so I'm sure their beers are great , but if you offer cocktails, I expect them to be good as well. The glasses were a little small and stuffed with ICE. I Just felt like the margaritas needed more alcohol and they would have been good. Onto the food we order the pork belly bites, the Irish nachos, and the pub fry trio. All of the food was really great. The whiskey sauce and the truffle sauce were my favorites for the french fries. They were crispy and tasted great. The pork belly was soft and tender . And we ended up adding brisket on the nachos which was also good. All in all the food what is the big surprise here and if they fix the alcoholic drinks, I feel like this would be a home run. I'm so glad they're back. I went for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The staff: Everyone from the hostess to the waiter were so polite, attentive and professional. When my mom needed to go the restroom, the hostess didn't just tell her where it was, she walked her over there. The food: the fish & chips were delicious. The fish is cod. It's crispy and delicious on its own, but I had to dip it in the tartar sauce which was great. The waiter told me to try a little of the smashed peas in the tartar sauce and it was good like that too. The fries look chunky so I thought they were going to be soggy but no! They were perfectly crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. I wish I would've had room for dessert. I had an Irish coffee and although it wasn't served in the traditional way, it was delicious. I thought it was going to be overly sweet because of the green whipped cream decoration but it was perfect. Don't judge a book by its cover. Everything was clean and looked new. I have been to John Martin's a handful of times in my lifetime living in Miami, and have always enjoyed what they represent in Miami, and their authentic bar-style ambiance. However, I had never written a review on my past experiences. I thought it'd be cute for my first John Martin's review to be on that of my Postmates order. Here it goes: "Took forever, and I live 4 minutes away. Burger catfished me, but was undoubtedly perfectly cooked and delicious in flavor!" We chose this place as a last minute resort since the restaurant we had wanted to go to could not accommodate a party of 6 at 8:30pm! So one of my daughters suggested John Martin's and I honestly wasn't too excited. I wanted to dine some where in the Gables since we were close by BUT I thought of this place more of a bar and not a place for a nice birthday dinner. Well boy was I in for a pleasant SURPRISE!!! I asked to change tables because we were a big tight in our booth. Instead we were allowed to be seated at a very nice comfy U shaped booth with a big wide table in the center. Much better! Then moving on to our waitress. What a doll! She was the most friendly, attentive, engaging waitress I've had the pleasure of meeting in a very long time. Her name was Marie. We ordered our drinks and she promptly took our appetizer order. We chose the Nachos with the brisket. Wow. Great choice! The brisket was juicy, tender and bursting with flavor. The actual "nachos" were sliced fried potatoes with the regular toppings. We devoured it. Good thing we ordered two of them. Then our main entree's included the Fish & Chips, Euro Sandwich, Irish Whiskey Chicken Breast & Chicken Wings. Please don't get me started on the fish & chips! Holey Moley!!!! Best I have ever had! You could taste the beer from the batter they use to coat the fish. The flavors literally do cartwheels in your mouth! My tastebuds were having a field day. My husband was the one who ordered this. My youngest daughter and I ordered the Irish Whiskey Chicken. Another hit!!! The chicken breast was juicy and just devine! The flavors of the chicken combined with the maple glazed carrots and potato hash were over the top! My two other daughters ordered the sandwich & also fish & chips and they were raving about their food. One of them also got the beef tartare and she loved jt. The food here was very good, although the portion sizes were small for the price. The enjoyment of our meal was also diminished by the quality of the service. There were not a lot of other diners on the Sunday evening we visited and there appeared to be plenty of wait staff, but it took forever to be greeted by our server and to have anything else done (drink / sauce refills.). It's nice to see John Martin's open again and looking so spiffed up, but it no longer looks like a real Irish pub and the service really needs improvement if it is going to last. read more

Experience was Top notch. From The moment we walked in, we felt welcomed! John Martin was a restaurant on the mile that opened in 1989. They closed down a couple of years and just reopened. The location has been renovated and it looks absolutely beautiful. It is modern, inviting, spacious, comfortable equipped with a wall-to-wall bar. We were so happy to see it reopened. It is trendy and welcoming. We were greeted by our hostess, "sweet Z" from Ethiopia. When we came in, we were not sure if we were going to eat at John Martin's so we asked them to let us see their menus and they were super cool with that. Then when we decided to stay, we were not sure if we wanted to sit at one of the high top tables or regular ones. She noticed our hesitation and offered one of the tables reserved for eight people. We thought that was so generous and kind. When we sat at this huge booth we offered to share it with others since it was so spacious, and she responded with "absolutely not; we want you to be happy and comfortable" and that is how we felt at this new John Martin's. The manager and assistant manager also came by personally to greet us and tell us a little about the old and current ownership. We love going to places where people really bring us in and make immediate connections with us. It makes a huge difference and tends to want to make us come back. Not only is the customer service exceptional here, but the food is absolutely delicious. We started the meal with spicy meatball appetizers which were piping hot, comprised of grits with cheddar cheese. It was the most delectable treat with a nice refreshing cocktail. My husband ordered a pub sandwich and I ordered the impossible burger, the vegetarian burger with honey, glazed carrots. The cocktails were excellent and the wine list was very good. The ambiance was cool and casual with a combination of: young and older couples, sports fans watching football at the bar, and families enjoying fries and hamburgers. We are looking forward to trying out everything on that menu. (See attached) What made this place epic was the service. Our server Jose wanted to make sure that we were well taken care of. And they were constantly checking in. We have now decided to make this one of our regular weekend stops . They play live music on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Looking forward to coming back.
