Dr. Wilson was kind, patient and thorough. She explained things clearly and was very positive. I recommend this practice!

I'd recommend this place, both the doctor and the, I don't know if she's called a nurse, but both super friendly and communicative.

I went in…read morefor an eye exam and got my first pair of glasses - I guess my vision isn't what it used to be! I was overwhelmed by the selection of frames they had but I was walked through every step of the process, and the workers there were honest about whether a style was flattering on my face (much appreciated!). During checkout, the person helping me automatically applied discounts and checked my insurance to ensure that I was getting the best deal. I was able to pick up my glasses in about a week. I'm one happy customer.

I was a long time patient of this place and everything was fine until it wasn't. Last time I was…read morein for glasses, they changed their house brand and I could no longer get the glasses I wanted. Not a deal breaker at the time. But now they require a "mandatory" extra $45 retinal scan (not covered by insurance and not told until AFTER you book an appointment), and that was a deal breaker. Don't force me into a service that I've not had before, have no information on and go "well, our doctors require it and it's another $45 out of pocket." I have decided to go somewhere else for eye exams that don't force un-covered procedures on you. Editing to add after the reply from the eye place: This procedure was NOT recommended. It was REQUIRED and it was conveyed you have no choice if you want it done or not. If you say no, no check up. If you say yes, then you have to pay the $45 since it's not covered by insurance. Again, this is not a recommendation of a procedure if it is required and that requirement is only told after you book an appointment. And then you have to pay more for this procedure that is forced on you.

At the start of my appointment, a technician persistently brought up Lasik surgery, despite my disinterest. When I said "No, thank you," the receptionist gave a speech about how Lasik is actually cheaper than buying contacts. Interesting take. She also told me that it's a "one-and-done" fix, and thus, much more economically efficient than contacts. I have never once in my life been harassed like this, nor recommended Lasik. Clearly Chittick has some contract with an off-facility surgery site. My recommendation: make that a little less obvious. Next, I attempted to buy contacts through them. Big mistake. Chittick charged me almost double what my old optometrist charged me. At first I thought it was an insurance issue, but then I pulled up the contacts price with NO insurance, and was baffled. Chittick inflates their contacts prices by at least 200%. You are better off ordering your contacts through 1800-contacts or a different site, as Chittick would like to squeeze many extra dollars out of your pocket. This practice is especially hurtful for graduate students. I am making only 2k/month over the summer, and with rent taking about 50% of my paycheck, I do not have time for Chittick's games. If you visit this place, I am sorry. Best of luck.

So, I did. Except, contrary to appearances, that doesn't actually schedule an appointment. Somebody from the office called a few days later to say they didn't actually have an available appointment. If the "Schedule and Appointment" site is not actually for that purpose, then be explicit about that. I got an exam elsewhere and then gave Kessler Optical a second chance because they supposedly carry a line of frames in which I was interested. I walked into the business during their stated hours of operation, only to be told they don't accept walk-ins. If that's their policy, then they should state that on their website. I should add that the woman at the front desk was unapologetic about any of this and unnecessarily difficult. If a business repeatedly fails to communicate clearly and inconveniences a customer as a result, then the business should acknowledge that and, ideally, try to make amends. Kessler Optical did none of that. I had limited time and needed to place an order for new glasses quickly before traveling for the holidays. Kessler Optical was a waste of precious time.

I asked for gray lenses with a salesperson, but got green-ish lenses when I picked it up another day. A different lady named Cassandra who claimed to be the manager was there. Cassandra first tried to gaslight me into believing the green lenses are the gray ones that I asked for. I took out my original gray color lenses and showed her that it's not the same color. I nicely asked her if it's OK that they replace the lenses to the color that I wanted. She suddenly talked to me rudely. Her original word was: "I can change it for you, but I don't want to. Because no matter what color we give you, you won't be satisfied. You will just come back and ask for new colors again and again." Her bad attitude was out of nowhere. Then I explained the situation last week with the different salesperson. I asked for exactly the same color as my original lenses but with prescription. She kept repeating her passive aggressive words implying that I chose the green color myself, and was then unsatisfied and asking for change, implying that I was a dishonest customer. Cassandra then started gaslighting me by "I was there the whole time when you were working with Tony, I was sitting right next to you. I saw him showing all the lenses to you and you chose the green color." I knew it was not true, because only Tony was there when I went there last week. So I explained that "You were not there. You must have mistaken me of someone else." She started increasing her voice and be like: "No, I was sitting right next to you the whole time. IT IS YOU." I proposed looking at the camera and see if she was there. She started saying "ugh, dramatic." I got mad and asked her: "Were you calling me dramatic??" She replied: "No, I am not talking about you." I pointed out that LensCrafters has the 30 days guaranteed satisfaction, she simply replied rudely: "Yes, but you will never be satisfied. You will just come back and change colors again and again." At that point I was really mad but still trying to explain. She almost shouted: "YOU DO NOT INCREASE YOUR VOICE!!! YOU DO NOT! INCREASE YOUR VOICE" I said: "I can come back tomorrow and work with the salesperson that I talked to, but I think your attitude towards the customers should be better." She rudely replied: "You are the one increasing your voice and calling me a liar. I have been professional and nice all this time." Then she just started to file documents for other customers and ignore me. The experience with Cassandra was SO HORRIBLE. Her service was so unprofessional and rude, full of gaslighting, passive-aggressiveness, discrimination, and microaggression. She did not even listen to my when I explained. I eventually left the store feeling discriminated as an Asian customer and being accused to be a dramatic and dishonest customer.

I came by last week. I've been going to the America's Best in West County in St. Louis for as long…read moreas I can remember so, I was happy to see them open a location in Champaign. The appointment was friendly and quick but when it came time to pick out glasses, one of the employees was one of those "overly helpful" types. I'm the kind of person that likes to be left alone to think about what I'm going to buy. If I have questions, I don't mind asking someone for help. This guy must have come up to me every five or ten minutes to ask if I had questions. Sometimes it was helpful, a lot of times, I felt like he was pressuring me to make a decision. In the end, I will say that the glasses are not much cheaper than other more expensive places. I ended up paying $400 for two pairs of glasses which is pretty comparable to an "expensive" place like lens crafters and at least there you can have your glasses ready the same day! Sure, they advertise the two pair for $69 deal but it only applies to certain glasses and the really "helpful" employee was not so helpful when it came to helping me find the best deal. He kept making comments about the more expensive frames being more durable. They must get paid on commission or something. Also, the price doesn't include lenses and I'm not sure how much that costs, my lenses are pretty basic, no astigmatism or anything.....so I'm not sure how it ended up costing so much but in the end, I was sick of being there and just wanted to leave with a decision. I figured $200/per pair of glasses isn't too bad after all.... I also bought contacts. They say the prices start at $13.99/box but they're more like $20 a box unless you pay $99 to join the Eyecare Club or buy a year supply or something. This place has lots of confusing gimmicks, just tell me the real price! UPDATE: 2 weeks later.... So, I finally picked up my glasses. I'm happy with the frames and the woman who adjusted them for me. This is the only reason why I haven't switched to online stores. Getting my frames adjusted to fit my face is important to me. The only thing I'm not happy with is my actual prescription. Its definitely different than my old one and I don't think I like it. My prescription hasn't changed in over 10 years so, I was a little surprised when she had said she changed it. Now it's harder to read things that are close up. I don't think the eye doctor did a thorough enough job double checking this.
