My kids and I have switched dentists and as recommended by a couple of my friends, we decided to see Dr Martin and his staff.

I'm surprised not to see any reviews for this dental office given how long they have been in the…read moreregion! Disclaimer: This review is for before Dr. Hans took over the practice, since I moved out of state. Hans Family Dental is the new name for Dr. Broadbent's practice (who has since retired). I give them 5 starts for the super friendly staff and exceptional, high-quality service they provide. I had used them for around 8 years for cleaning and a wisdom tooth extraction. My dental hygienist was Jamie. Her cleaning and checkup is great: she takes the time to remove all plaque through a detailed and *gentle* scraping, brushing, then flossing. She inspects it again and then scrapes again if necessary. I would almost fall asleep during my visits. The office has modern equipment, unlike some other places I've been in the past. Their bitewing x-rays are digital, so they get an instant x-ray picture on a computer monitor in front of you and the dental hygienist. The front desk staff really cares for their patients and here's a story to prove it: One time, I was in the emergency room and ran into Sue. We chatted for a bit and went our ways. A few days later, I got a get well card in the mail with a hand written note wishing me a quick recovery! It's rare to find businesses with staff like this one! They're quite busy, so you have to book in advance. Best of luck to Dr. Hans and the office.

If there is a time crunch or time off from work, make that clear. They can estimate times but some times things take longer to do be done properly. Staff is caring and methodical and willing and able to explain procedures and insurance issues, when asked. Knowing how much you have left for the year with insurance is important in scheduling. Knowing payment option time lines, without insurance crucial. Dr. Hans is articulate. She takes the time to explore various options, even ones she does not offer! Her website provides a base to ask better questions as does the Dr. Siebert -(Suliman) periodontists website (gumdocs.com.) This is an important to decisions that not thought through can leave you toothless, temporarily toothless, or cost more in the long run. For example: If teeth are shifting, will retainers work until a more expensive option can be afforded? A retainer that masks a missing tooth a better option if that is a possibility? The patient must prepare for the appointment, to get the best service and they provide those tools.

I became a patient of Dr Markwood when the Dr I was seeing for many years sold his practice to her…read more She and her staff are wonderful. They go out of their way to make sure you understand all of your options and your insurance coverage. They go over the insurance and estimated coverage and are sure to explain that it is an estimate and it could change once the claim is processed by your insurance plan. I highly recommend this entire team. I was stressed about finding a new dentist after 20 years with my old dentist but Dr Markwood and her team made the transition very easy. In fact I am happier now than I was with my previous dentist.

Caring Family Dental engaged in deceptive practices to convince me to agree to treatment plans,…read morethen turned around and sent me a bill for nearly 4 times what they originally quoted. In their office, they issued extensive verbal assurances about the pricing and they made it seem like they had confirmed everything with insurance, but it turned out that they hadn't done any due diligence at all. They were basically just making up the numbers and telling me they were certain. I paid them everything they quoted me that day, and my insurance paid them too, but 5 weeks later they're demanding hundreds more. No amount of reasoning with them resulted in any progress, and of course they're threatening to send their bloated bill to collections. Apparently, the "Caring Family Dental" name doesn't mean much to them. They're just another version of the corporate dental business that tries to always pile more on. At this point, I would NEVER trust any treatment plan quote they issue, as I know now that they'll just radically alter the numbers afterwards. Even if they tell you with certainty what the numbers will be, I now know that means nothing. I eventually filed a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General and we'll see where that goes, but man, what a huge hassle. I wish more businesses would actually read and abide by Illinois' deceptive practices laws.
