I was in and out in less than 20 minutes, I was just hustled through. The doctor didn't even bother to log into the computer to see that I was a new patient, came in the room and said, "so how're the eyes?" ... "oh, you're new! I'm doctor ..." Hustled through the exam, then sat at a desk with a lady who I'm sure is very sweet that didn't want to be there on a Saturday, so I just asked for a printout of my Rx, and had to wait for the doctor to go back to my record to close it (but he was already with another patient) so she could print it. I work in healthcare. I know what good care looks like, and this is not it. If you have EyeMed, go somewhere else. read more

The staff is super friendly, but something has happened to the quality of the lenses they use. My glasses have caused me issues since the day I got them. I don't have a back up pair, which made it difficult to resolve the issue, as they couldn't be sent back. But they would have been the exact same quality, even if I could: scratch SUPER easily & the lenses are just wonky. It is difficult to put into words, but I just don't see well from them. They never seem to come clean, and there are weird markings in the lenses. The coating is cheap. And the glasses were $450 even with insurance. The nice staff isn't enough to get me back there with this quality. It has changed in the last few years, even though they claim it hasn't. Update: I got a call from the Doctor of Jones who told me how he did not like how I talked to his staff and threatening a review. He kept telling me to stop talking. I told him I did not yell at his staff. I talked in a calm manner the whole time. They may not like that I was not accepting their answers, but then get out of customer service; that's the gig, but working for a doctor who has no customer and calls to chastise you, what do you expect. American Optometric Association (AOA) recommends that low-risk adults between 18 and 64 have a comprehensive eye exam every two years. I fit in this low risk category, Jones Optical refused to send my prescription, stating it was expired, even though it was only 1 year and a month old, stating all private practices do this. Well I don't know about you, but I am tired of these places doing it just because they can. Jones has shown me the care about their pocket book more than the consumer. terrible, absolutely terrible. it took me a whole semester and longer (16+ weeks) to get contacts. Id you're a college student they will take advantage of you and your time and your money. when they make a mistake they blame it on the manufacturer and they do not keep track if the orders for your contacts have been processed. Very very disorganize, told me i needed a trial pair of contacts that i've been wearing my whole life and when i came back for the check up for the trial pair the doctor was confused why i was back. read more

I did eye exam there three times. the front desk is friendly and helpful! previous two experience was ok. bu t the recent one is bad. the assistant is kind of cold. the thing really let me feel bad is that the exam is not correct! I know my left eye is much worse than the right eye and it was consistently shown in my prescriptions over 20 years. but this time I got three prescription (distance, computer and reading) which show my left eye and right eye need lens with the same power! I questioned the doctor , his told me he can adjust it for me! so is this a random number? should i trust him to adjust to a new number? No! I can tell the doctor do not pay much attention to the work for me . Sadly, my insurance can only pay exam once in 12 months. read more

I took my Junior High age children with me so we could all get our eye exams at the same time. A 20-something tech took us into the room to check to see if we were colorblind and to use the machine that blows the puff of air into your eye. My youngest son (11) is scared to death of that machine and doesn't like to do it. He sat in the chair at the machine, but because he was scared he started getting giggly. He sat there for no longer than 20 seconds trying to psych himself up to do it an the tech said "I don't have time to play games. Either you're going to do it or you aren't." She actually said this twice. I was in such shock I didn't say anything to her. Dr. Burgwald spent less than 10 minutes total with all 3 of us. My oldest son and I got a contact exam. He did nothing different for us than he did for my youngest son but charged us $40 more. He didn't even see a pair of contacts in either of our eyes. Just wrote the prescription. There were other issues with them, but these two are the biggest. read more

I went back for my yearly exam for contacts and I was charged a $55 contact sitting fee which is a crazy fee. The service was extremely slow I had to wait 20 before I saw the Dr. They told me to fill out the same paperwork that I did last yr when I told the front desk lady it was all still the same info. Overall not sure if I will be going back next yr. read more

I broke my glasses and needed to find an eye doctor immediately. The first place I could get into was Jones Optical. Dr. Burgwald gave me the fastest exam I have ever had in the last 25 years I have been wearing glasses and going to the eye doctor annually. He set the eye exam lenses to what he thought I would need, asked me if it looked ok, and wrote down that as my prescription. He never moved any lenses and asked me which one looked better like all the other eye doctors I have been to before. I spent less than 5 minutes with him. He was in such a hurry that he wrote my prescription down incorrectly and when I finally got my glasses (after 3 weeks - which is normal for them btw!) one of the lenses was way off! I went back in to see Dr. Burgwald and he said he wrote it down wrong on the sheet but has it correct in the computer. This time he actually took his time with me to make sure he had the correct powers. He did apologize several times, but then went on to blame the people that order your lenses and frames.... It took ANOTHER week for me to get my glasses done! I was without them for over a month. Also, if you do go there to get contacts DO NOT buy them from him. He charges DOUBLE!!!! A friend of mine in Nashville area is an eye doctor and he was shocked at how much Jones Optical charged per box. They were charging me $40 a box!!! I was able to buy them for $25 a box. The only positive thing I can say is that they were friendly. But other than that I will not step foot in there again. It's not worth it. read more

I am very disappointed with Jones Optical. They refused to honor their original glasses' price. After I picked up my glasses they called me to ask for more money arguing that their staff made a mistake in their end. I couldn't even talk to the manager. Because, "he was out of the office." I looked all over town for new frames and wasn't happy with anything I saw until I went to Jones Optical. With high-index lenses and anti-reflective coating, my glasses were on the expensive side (close to $500), but I wear them every day and was in love with the style, so I went for it. Jones Optical's customer service has been top-notch. When my glasses came, the prescription was slightly off in one eye (another optometrist did my exam). The optometrist at Jones Optical did a quick re-exam for me and sent the lens off to be replaced at no extra cost. My view: Jones is neither the cheapest nor the most expensive option in town, but they have a good selection of frames and provide good service. read more

I agree with Amy L in that everyone there is very pleasant. I primarily worked with Barb and she was wonderful....very patient through the picking out of a frame and then, when the glasses arrived and the frame wasn't what was expected, she was great. She called the company, got them sent back and the lenses put in a different frame. I picked them up today and Pam helped me who, too, was great. They fit, no adjustments necessary and I'm really happy with the glasses and, the excellent friendly service I received! read more

I'm a big fan of Dr. Burgwald. He's easy going, but cautious when it's prudent to be. There are a lot of eye conditions in my family and he is diligent about screening for them. I don't mind filling out the forms each time I go in (like one reviewer did) because things DO change over time. As a bonus, he takes our insurance (VSP)! The only thing that stops me from giving Jones Optical 5 stars is that I can't get my glasses done in-house; they have to be sent to a lab in St. Louis. Oh well. read more

I have been a patient here for at least 5 yrs now. They always know my insurance benefits, get me and my boyfriend together out in about an hour and explain my options withOUT making me feel pressured into extra services. I especially like that they allow me to use my insurance for contacts with them and give me my glasses Rx to purchase glasses online (where I can get them much cheaper). They automatically give us trial pairs of contact even when we don't make a change and also make sure we get the rebate forms to get money back! Yes, I do have vision insurance, and perhaps this makes my experience easier no matter where I go. But Jones Optical is always friendly, helpful and doesn't push extras like other places I've been. read more

The temple of my husband's glasses broke off and we called Jones' to see if we could get them fixed. (we bought them there). The receptionist wanted him to drop the glasses off so they could repair them. My husband said that he needed them to see so leaving them was not an option. Anyway, they ordered the part --- it took six weeks for the part to come in!! When jones' finally called us to say that the part had come in, they wanted us to drop the glasses off so they could do the repair...well three weeks later, the glasses still aren't fixed (it's ONE SCREW!!!!)... and we just called them to see what's up and they said that the part isn't fitting properly...so now what? Another six weeks for the new part to come in? What...is it being sent by bicycle messenger from China? I'd give this place zero stars if I could! read more

Everyone in the office is over-the-top friendly and helpful. I have never felt rushed or that they did not have time for me. The staff is very knowledgeable about different insurance plans and lets you know exactly what your costs are up front. The doctor was competent and my prescription was accurate, but the rest of the service was terrible. To start, they submitted my insurance incorrectly which saddled me with an extra 100 dollar bill. I refused to pay it but it took MONTHS to resolve. The glasses arrived at a strangely bent angle and had to be sent back to the technician twice before they were wearable. For a service I only get once a year, I'm certainly not going to risk giving them a second chance. read more

So, after my horrible lens crafters experience, (see my other review for them) i decided to go the non corporate route. The people were nicer and seemed to care that i was there shopping with them. I didn't get my glasses as fast as lens crafters, but i didn't have to send them back three times either. I'm willing to wait a little longer for better service. read more

This was many years ago and I went into Jones Optical to get contact lenses. Seen Dr Levine to get new contact lenses and we started to go for the eye exam . When I walked in the room and sat down he followed me in and proudly said "I can give you better than 20/20 vision" He looked at my eyes and then started to go through the clarification through the imachine with the eye chart on the wall. He stopped way short on giving me clear vision with the eye chart on the wall. Then he asked me what kind of contacts I want its hard or soft lenses. I always work hard lenses but I thought I'd try soft lenses. Then he put the machine up against my face so I can look through it and he said how did that look. There was nothing for me to look at the eye chart wasn't there and I told him I can't tell there's nothing there. He stopped his eye exam there and he said my contacts would be in a week or so. I picked up my soft lenses put them in to try them out and they never did adhered to the they just float around and everything was blurry. I went back told him about it, got hard lenses and they were uncomfortable clarity wasn't very clear at all. So I took them back and told him I wanted my money back and he said that he kept the eye exam incomplete and kept $145. My advice is not to go see "Dr. keep you blind Levine" of Jones Optical. read more

I would strongly encourage you to take your business elsewhere. When my husband arrived for my daughter's exam he let them know before our daughter was seen all he wanted was a comprehensive exam for her contacts and he did not want to purchase contacts through them, we would be doing that with an online provider. He was assured that was fine and all we needed to pay was our $10 copay. At the end of the exam our daughter was taken to another area where a very high pressure salesperson attempted to convince my husband and daughter to buy lenses through them. He repeatedly ask for the script from the exam and was refused while the high pressure tactics continued. Eventually he was given the script and the very angry salesperson told him he would now be charged a sitting fee for a fitting we distinctly stated we did not want and refused. Within three days of leaving we were billed not only $50 for a fitting fee but also for $120 worth of contacts we did not get. We called and spoke to the business manager who told us she would not remove the lenses charge (even though she knew full well we did not get these) until we came back and paid for the fitting fee which we also refused. I have reported this to our insurance company and the Better Business Bureau. We have went to All About Eyes before and received the script and exam for the copay only and even what they billed was half of Jones Optical's charges. We will never be back here again. read more
