Appolo installed new furnace and central a/c unit in my home…read more At the time of the installation, the overflow preventer in the a/c unit was stuck, resulting in flooding my carpeted basement. The initial repair person who came to see what caused the flood was the one who told me that the overflow preventer install caused the flood yet Appolo refused to reimburse me for the insurance deductible. Two years later another (different) company came for routine maintenance and showed me that the original ductwork was poorly designed because there is a rule that there should be 24 inches between secondary ducts and the end of each main line; it is clear on most online descriptions that this is ideal for maximum air flow through the system. When Appoly did the original install I had them come back because the air flow felt insufficient and they told me it was by design because the goal is to run the unit for a long time at a lower air flow for consistent temperature!!

I had them do yearly servicing on the boiler for the last three years and then had them repair it in February - March 2026 when there was a problem with very low heat. The problem was not correctly addressed. At no time did they check to determine that most of the water had drained out of the boiler. They said I needed a new aquastat and replaced it but set it to 200 degrees (about 40 degrees higher than needed). When I had a technician from a company that knows how to service boilers look at it, the inside was very dirty (had not been getting regular cleaning, although I had paid for maintenance each fall). He discovered that the water had drained out, that it needed flushing, and has repaired the boiler.

Called, set up an appointment and the service repairman came . His name was Dean. He called before he was to arrive, he knew exactly how to fix the issue. He gave me a hint on removing the filter. Told me to make rabbit ears on the filter with duck tape. That way I can pull the filter out. I told him I was disappointed the installers did not show me how to remove the filter. After all, I really was not thrilled that I had to have a service call. The best part of this review is that there wasn't any charge, he gave me a pound of hummingbird coffee , a fabulous tip on removing the filter and we shook hands. Very thankful for the rabbit ear tip, everyone should learn this! Very pleased with Hummingbird, the service repairman Dean and my pound of coffee. But the best part... no charge. We needed a part ordered to complete the repair. We were told it might take a few days. One week later I called back to check and was told the part was still on order, we would be contacted to schedule the service as soon as the part was received. Another week later I called again, the person I spoke to confused the water heater repair with an unrelated appointment for an air-conditioning estimate. I tried to explain that hot water and air conditioning were not related. Finally, several days after the second call, my partner (male) called and somehow, miraculously, the part was "found." He was told it was a "communication breakdown" with the supplier. It was obviously a communication breakdown on Halco's part. We got no acknowledgement that this was problematic, not even an apology for having to spend 2+ weeks with no hot water. Update: Halco has contacted me and I'm convinced this was not their usual service. I appreciate their willingness to reach out and try to make things better.
