As a fellow local business owner (Foundation Homes of CNY), I've thought long and hard before posting this review. I'm sharing it to warn other homeowners and industry professionals. I had a long-standing relationship with Amber Wells / Amber Water Pros that was, for years, very positive and professional. We worked together on numerous projects over multiple years totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. They also installed a $40,000+ well/water treatment system at my personal residence. Until this dispute, I had no issues with Amber personally or professionally. What happened (documented): On or about September 12, 2023, during excavation for a water line, Amber's excavator struck and severely damaged an underground electrical service wire, causing loss of power and significant disruption. After investigation, it was determined the damaged line could not be practically repaired and a new line needed to be installed. Licensed trades (electrician + sitework for excavation/re-trenching/backfilling) completed the repair/replacement work for approximately $3,900. Throughout the repair process, Amber and I stayed in communication and it appeared we were aligned on the resolution. After receiving the final invoices, Foundation sent Amber a formal letter on November 7, 2023, documenting the costs and stating they would be deducted from Amber's outstanding invoice. Amber received and cashed the check, then requested additional documentation to submit to their insurance carrier, so we reasonably believed the matter was settled. Months later, Amber's insurance carrier (Selective) contacted me about a claim related to the same damages, which I understand was ultimately denied. After that denial, Amber filed a summons and complaint seeking $3,900, as if the prior offset/payment had not occurred. Amber also filed a lien against my personal residence (which was improper and later removed by Amber's counsel). I then had to engage counsel and attempted to resolve the matter amicably, but those efforts were unsuccessful. The dispute went to arbitration, and Amber was ultimately awarded the original balance. My understanding is that Amber prevailed largely because their contract controlled and my November 7, 2023 letter did not contain the legally required "accord and satisfaction" language. Bottom line: While $3,900 is significant, I don't understand the actions taken here--especially given the earlier acceptance of the offset (cashing the check and requesting documentation for an insurance claim) and the subsequent escalation after the insurance denial. In my view, it was not handled reasonably and it was not worth destroying a long-standing relationship. Takeaway: Document everything, confirm responsibility for damage in writing, keep invoices/photos/communications, and be crystal clear about dispute resolution terms before work begins. We requested a quote for new build in upstate NY . Jim came right out and gave us a quote. We choose Amber because quote was lower but also because equipment was newer than competition. Also Jim was confident about where to put well. They got to us within 2 weeks of quote and we had water quickly under budget! I was hesitant about reading other reviews but we are super happy with everything and are glad we choose Amber. read more

One star is even too high of a rating for the experience we have had. November 2024 we had a filtration system put in. Ozone, RO, the works! Spent a large chunk of money on work they do not stand behind. We needed iron and sulfur bacteria removed from our water and was evident by viewing our toilet tank. At the same time we had the filtration system installed we had a new toilet put in. 6 months later, we had the same residue in the tank. They came out and "fixed it" by adding another part to the system. Except for 6 months later the toilet tank looked worse yet, we still had water marks on our fixtures, and the water smelled worse than before they installed it in the first place. Mind you, the installation itself was a 3 week process by the time they installed it. Had to come back out the same day because they left us without any water pressure. And theb again later the same day because there were leaks! We continued having leaks for about 3 consecutive days. One of these leaks was the softener we had in before they came because they damaged it in their installation process. They removed the softener and said we didn't need it because we don't have hard water. Fast forward a year after install and we are STILL having issues. The filters clog and the one filterless unit that is supposed to be able to flush itself out gets clogged and won't clear out sediment/debris. We had that additional filterless unit installed the end of November 2025 and now as of January 5 2026 have had 4 service calls for it. Currently waiting for them to come back out and replace it with the original. They came out 2 days ago to service it without the wrenches they needed or the unit to replace it. Was told I'd get a call to schedule the service and am still waiting two days later. Meanwhile, it is filling up with "sediment" which is actually calcium from having HARD WATER. And to add insult to injury.... on top of the price, on top of the faulty product and the unprepared/undertrained techs they send out, their business manager Jim is rude. Stating we only called about our water quality not improving 2 times in that first year.... however we called 6 months apart because we were giving things time to try and notice a difference. Meanwhile changing detergents, soaps, all the things that were in our control thinking maybe the laundry stains, the watermarks, the residue might be from one of those things. Not once an apology or a "we will make this right." They wanted to CHARGE US MORE in terms of a service call (175) milage, labor per hour, and parts because we were outside the one year warranty on a product that hasn't performed for the majority of that first year. (That first year beginning 3 days after their initial visit, since it took them 3 days to realize they hadn't even plugged it in!) Debating now, do I call them and remind them they need to come back out? Or wait to see if they actually remember they showed up unprepared and have a job to finish.​​​ read more

Stay Away!!!they are criminals what they did to my property is criminal. I got most of it resolved by threatening to sue them. I went under the house recently for something else and the wire to the well pump/jet pump is laying in the water. They came back to the house to try and correct some things and the last 2 didnt know how the water tank pressure works. they just sat their with their hands in their pockets. What a horrible experience. I don't have enough space to write all the things they did. Electrical line cut can happen but getting them to fix and restore power was crazy. They drove over the septic and leaching field which was supposed to to not happen. The driveway saying it's destroyed is an understatement. Buyer beware!! They broke a lamp post and flood light fixtures. Didn't say anything. Stuck the poll back in ground and left the broken fixtures. The "electrician" they use is obviously not licensed and a lazy piece of work. After meeting different people they all trash and blame one another. All very nice but unprofessional. Not to say when Jay went over everything he lied about placement of the well where the silt and mud was supposed to be pumped to. I've had nothing but trouble. Right now looking for an electrical inspector to come and look at the wires in water under the house crawl space so I can report them to the BBB. And maybe sue them. Please stay away from this company!!! You are asking for major troubles and expenses. I expected a small mess. Maybe doing the grass, gardening, work on the driveway. We have been dealing with sulfur water for several years, initially treating it with chlorine. Recently we responded to an ad for Amber Water Services. They were quick to visit and assess our situation. We now have an ozone filter in conjunction with hydrogen peroxide injection, and we could not be happier! Our sulfur problem is solved and no more chlorine to deal with. The ozone filter appears to be of high quality, and the installation is very neat and out of the way. We did have an issue with a pressure switch that would not operate properly with the new filter. The technician was here that day with a new switch that corrected the problem. Had an entire water system installed, one thing after another has gone wrong-called today because I have issues with my pump--under warranty for 5 yrs and under Amber so-called warranty for 7--want HUNDREDS to come out and look--labor not included on their so-called warranty so their warranty means NOTHING. They explained the warranty very differently to me when I hired them in 2023. A nightmare of a company. Scammers. I hired a new company to install a purification system for $1000.00 after Amber tried to scam me out of $1700 for the same system. If you need a plumber or well help or Water System call Copper City Plumbing--out of Rome. Do not call Amber...liars and scammers. Sc-amber is more like it. We needed a new water pump. Amber Water Pros installed a DAB EsyBox Mini3 before I realized what it is, and how much it costs. The pump costs about double what a top of the line conventional pump costs. It also runs on about 50% of the juice a conventional pump uses. It provides constant pressure on demand... However, when the thing leaked I had major second thoughts about keeping this thing. But the folks at Amber were reasonable about making sure the leaks were repaired, and came down a bit on their price because of the misunderstanding. read more

Great for well drilling, not great at service... Also, be wary of signing up for an annual service contract. They promise to do a ton which makes it sound like a great deal, but my technician only did half of what was supposed to be done and only came back after I asked for the water test results that he never tested for while here. read more

Not good at all, I was scheduled to have my well extended on Friday and I have already paid the company and gave them the needed pictures so they can do the job. I had two workers come out and was informed the office gave them all the wrong information and they can't do the job today. they said they will contact the office with notes and they will call me. I ended up calling them because they did not call me but everyone was gone for the day, it was 4pm. now supposedly someone is going to call me after the Labor Day weekend. so for now, I would not recommend this company read more

Everyone along the way from the initial quote to all aspects of drilling & installation of my new well was friendly, timely and honest. All my inquiries were replied to and answered. The guys worked in the coldest weather and clearly knew what they were doing. Amber wells came out at the beginning of July after my property lost water. They told us that they could get water anywhere, and quoted us for 160 feet. They came out, and without telling us, drilled past the 160 to 300 feet. No water. They suggested going down another 200 feet but couldn't guarantee water, but we were already $17,000 in the hole. The drillers told us after the fact that there are no drilled wells in the area because the clay in our area is so bad. They made a mess, cracked our sidewalk and driveway ($5,000 in damage and none of which they are responsible for per contract) but still left us with no water. When I called to see if they could cut us a deal, they were unwilling to budge. Now we had a new dug well put in and the excavators were able to find water. In recent weeks, after talking to various contractors, I've heard horror stories of this company drilling past where they found water, and not finding water after promising that they would because they are "geologists" and know their stuff. Be careful and pay attention to their contract as they are not responsible for anything. read more

Amber Well Drilling Review: Pros: They got the job done despite obstacles. They are experienced and know their jobs well. They went the extra mile to complete the well installation. I would trust this company again to get a well established. Cons: Their price wasn't cheap, even before the obstacles surfaced. They did not discuss details ahead of the job regarding what their work would entail, and this would have been extremely helpful to know ahead of time (if you don't know what mud is, ask - you really need them to manage it to prevent environmental damage). The well pump they installed acted strangely from day one and they really weren't that helpful in resolving the issue (still is a problem to this day). Lastly, I would recommend getting a water faucet at the well head - they suggested this but I sadly did not go for it. read more

Don't use this company! 2019 I had a well drilled 325 feet which resulted in methane gas and sulfur in my water. My yard was left and mess and not leveled. They hit a electric line that they spliced saying it would me fine and later came apart and cost me thousands more. This company held me up for for weeks with results after testing the water. My water could catch on fire with a match. They never once said a word of sympathy and continued to harass me about sending money and adding charges to my bill without sending an emailed or paper copy. I wrote to them and told me I sent all I could which was $11,000. I told them considering everything it felt fair giving them space to accept. Instead, they again didn't send an email or paper copy of invoices leading me to believe all was paid for. I checked my spam mail ... not a thing from them in a year. Then after a year they turned the case into the courts claiming I didn't pay and adding hundreds of dollars of interest. NEVER did I receive ANYTHING warning me of this. It is a total lie that they did leading me to pay close to $1000 more. They are a terrible cold company & have done similar to others from what lawyers have told me. read more

The entire staff at Amber Well was friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. Our technician, Pete who came out to service our system and assess our sulfur issues was thorough and explained in detailed what the problem was and what our options were. When we decided to install the Master Ozone unit, the other two technicians showed up promptly and worked efficiently, cleaned up any mess from their job, and even interacted with our very anxious little dog appropriately! Replaced a well pump at our property. Twice. Both times they overlooked a damaged pressure tank that will continue to damage the newly replaced pumps. Instead of offering a repair solution, they informed us they won't warranty their install, and that we should be mindful of our water usage. It's been four months since I first hired them, and I wish I never had in the first place. read more
