He continued to say, by law I had to turn off the furnace and the AC or people in the house may died if turned on. Wondering if this is true?? We quickly found another AC people to check and that cost us $500+ to replace some parts and all working just fine. The furnace and AC were all working perfectly till today. Simple condensation pump. First Cooney is no longer Cooney. They were bought out by John Betlem Heating & Cooling based out of Rochester. They are still going by Cooney locally when you call the local number, which in my opinion is false advertising. You only find out that you're dealing with Betlem when they try to sell you a yearly maintenance service plan. With that said, here's what happened. Last Tuesday I woke up to no heat on my 2nd floor. I called Cooney for a service call. After leaving a message, I get a return call about 2 hrs later. The Betlem rep tells me that they can't service me until Monday, a week later. I said again, "I have no heat". They replied sorry, that's the best that we can do unless you buy the "yearly maintenance plan" and then we can schedule you sooner. I asked them to send me the information so I can review it. After reviewing I called back, spoke with a different rep ready to purchase the " $184 plan" and asked, now that I'm buying the plan when will you be out. There reply was, next Monday. What a scam. The old Cooney was first rate. When I had emergency issues in the past they were at my house within several hours or by days end. The way that it should be in an emergency situation. Luckily, I'm knowledgeable about a lot of things and after 2 days of "troubleshooting" I figured out the issue by myself. I will be looking for a new company who can meet my needs. I warn everyone out there. Do not do business with Cooney/Betlem. The old Cooney was a small local business who built a great business on customer satisfaction and great work performed with pride. Betlem is a large business not geared to personal service and they just don't give it $hit. All they care about is making money.

This past Monday while are work, I received a call from the wife / son at home advising that the furnace was not working, and the temperature was dropping in the house. As a result of having a back up heater, they made it through the night, and upon my arrival home in the morning (Tuesday), I began the trouble-shooting process, first starting with the batteries in the thermostat, then moving onto the unit. Once the front access cover on the unit was opened, it was quite obvious that the main wiring harness to the control board had arched out, briefly catching fire, causing the unit to stop work. Over the course of the day, I contacted a few repair facilities to receive pricing on the replacement harness, control board, however after obtaining these, it would be over $600.00 and there were delays on receiving. Our house was built in June of 1980, we moved in May of 2001 and a quick decision was made as a result of the current unit giving us a good 22 years and was a total of 43 years old. As a result of dealing with Angelo Chiodo to add our central air when we moved in, a call was made to have someone come out to quote replacing the unit and return phone call was received within 15 minutes. On the return call, Jon was quick to listen (was going to send a tech, however I explained the unit was DEAD and didn't want to tie the tech up). He advised he was on the way quote up a new unit as he did not want us to spend another day / night without heat. He arrived within the hour, provided the quote, offered the assistance on helping us find any necessary heaters we needed to get through the evening (we already had one) and the new install was scheduled for the morning. On Wednesday morning, there was a ring at the door bell at 8:15 am, the installer was courtesy and ready to get to work on removing the old unit and to start the new install. Over the next several hours, the installer laid down drop cloths to be sure not to get the rugs dirty (basement is finished), was very cautious on the trips in / out of the house and spent the time to explain the process as he worked (we all know how it is, when someone was watching over your shoulder) however this did not affect him one bit. Upon the completion of the install, he took the additional time walk me through the unit, new thermostat and explain all the paperwork (warranty) etc. The laundry room, garage, driveway area (where things were unloaded, installed) were left cleaner than what they were when he arrived. It's for these reasons, I HIGHLY recommend using them Chiodo team as you will not be disappointed, if I could give ten stars, there would be no hesitation. read more

From the initial meeting with the sales representative Jon to the completion of the project, they were reachable, responsive and professional. Jon answered all of my questions and came to check in on the guys during the installation. My special requests were fulfilled. I meet with representatives from 4 companies. Three of which offered the exact same HVAC systems. I was shocked at the difference in prices. Chiodo's price was in the middle of the quotes, but they were able to also offer air duct cleaning for an additional cost. My husband works a lot in the summer so I handled meeting with all the companies and discussing options. Never once did this company make me feel like I was being treated any differently because I am a woman. We are extremely pleased with the installed product. Last night our hot water tank gave out and we woke to a flooded basement. We called around 7:30am and by 8:00am Ron was at our house. By 10:15am we had the old water tank removed and a brand new one installed! What could have been a stressful situation turned into a non-issue (besides the water removal from the basement which has nothing to do with Nicotra). Hands down best customer service we've ever experienced.

As a new resident in Syracuse, I received a welcome letter from Patruno Electric offering to assist…read morewith any electrical needs in my new home. After meeting with a representative from Patruno, I received two proposals: (1) to complete rudimentary work in the kitchen and bath, and (2) to install an eight-and-a-half foot under cabinet length of lighting above my countertop. The total for the two proposals was $2,350. I was expecting something in the $1,600-$1,800 range. There was no breakdown of costs (parts, labor, and estimated times to complete the work). I estimated four hours for this job which works out to $587.50 per hour based on the proposal totals. That's a lot. The average hourly rate for an electrician in Syracuse, NY, is approximately $31.90. This figure is based on data from job postings and salary information collected by Indeed. The average pay range can vary, with some sources listing a range from $21.95 to $46.35 per hour. Note: I also bought the fixtures and electrical parts for a portion of the project, so the first proposal's pricing should have been reduced. When I called to negotiate a better price on the proposal totals, Dave said they were very busy, went silent on negotiation, and recommended that I work with another company. He said, "I'm not trying to blow you off, but..." (When anybody says, "I'm not trying to blow you off," that's EXACTLY what they're doing.) Then, he gave me the names of three other electricians. I called all three of his suggested contacts. One came in at $3,500, the second never called back, and the third came in at $1,917 for the exact same things I asked Patruno to do. I selected the third electrician who was incredibly helpful, made great suggestions for my home, and booked the work to be done within a week. It was $117 over my budget, but I'm happy with the service I received. In conclusion, I have discovered that, in general, too many tradesmen "make up" inflated project totals without justification of their work. I understand overhead and profit margins, but to gouge customers who they assume don't understand about fair pricing and will pay without question, is unforgiveable. Patruno is happy to work with you as long as you agree to do what they want. When did businesses become more important than their customers? My advice: Look around until you find a price within your budget for work you plan to have done, and select businesses that are willing to negotiate and provide exellent, timely service.

Completely unprofessional. I had an 11am-5pm appointment for an estimate. They called me at 7:40am…read moreon a Saturday to let me know they'd be there in 30 minutes. The "tech" came totally unprepared. Not even a proper flashlight even though I was very clear they were coming to check a crawlspace. He seemingly had no idea of what he was even looking at, and I had to just ask him to leave. When I called to let the manager know, she stated she couldn't do anything because she wasn't the HVAC manager, but would pass the message along and had no idea when the HVAC manager would contact me.

They were great keeping us informed on arrival time. they arrived promptly around 8 am and I am happy to say they had the new furnace installed by 10:30! I got a text message (he didn't even bother to call) at 6 the evening before saying that one of his guys had covid and he MIGHT have to cancel. I begged him to please find a way to come as we scheduled this appointment so I would have an outlet for a new fridge that I was having delivered. I also had a couple of lights that needed installing and a switch that needed to be moved along with a light. He said he would keep me updated and would reach out in the morning. Two days later and I have not heard from him. I assume the truth is they found a job that was more beneficial payment wise and decided they could do without my business. This actually worked out for me! The owner Shawn from CNY Electrical took my call and listened to what happened to me and said he would ask one of his guys to come out the following day. CNY Electrical came out this morning and did the same job for $100 cheaper! The work was done exactly the way I wanted it and Jason was amazing! He explained everything he was doing and even guided me in setting up my Ring devices. He was polite and cleaned up after he was completed with the job. I highly recommend this company for any electrical work that needs to be done. I will certainly be calling them when it is time to renovate the downstairs of my home as well as outdoor lighting that I will be installing. Thanks again for coming through on a pinch CNY Electrical! STAY FAR AWAY FROM BERGOVIC ELECTRIC. He appeared to be such a nice guy, which is why I went with them at first, but learned fast that his shady disposition was not too far from the surface.
