After trying many coffee shops around Alaska, Jitters was definitely our favorite spot. They had a wide variety of specialty drinks, alternative milk options, ready to heat up breakfast sandwiches, and a large selection of bagel options. I had the ham and cheese croissant which was delicious. Just to note, you need to grab it from the open face cooler near the counter and heat it up yourself. They have a microwave and toaster available for use. The white mocha coffee was the best I've had in Alaska. My whole group had a variety of coffee drinks and we collectively agreed Jitters is a 5/5. One person in our group is a hardcore Dunkin' Donuts or nothing individual. But he tried the Americano which he enjoyed so much he asked the group if we could go back the next morning, which we did. Highly suggest adding this coffee shop to your breakfast itinerary. read more

I've been coming here since the 90's. Coffee is meh. I think if they properly trained their barista's the coffee would taste much better. Most often the coffee tastes burnt and is served way too hot. But it's a great place to meet up and chat for a few hours with a friend. Beware that it gets really hot inside and you might want to dress in layers! my most recent visit was cut short due to place being too hot inside and no AC or fan to cool the place down. Overall, great place to meet up, but coffee isn't the best. read more

Then I read that one of the owners is a retired 6th grade teacher and that sealed the deal since I am also a retired 6th grade teacher. Local coffee hangout! I love Jitters' atmosphere- it is cozy inside and reading a book in there is pleasant. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, not pressuring you to choose if you take a long time to decide (I do!). I do not recommend the bagels, they are worse than Kroger brand bagels. I do recommend the homemade quiche, the breve, and the white mocha. My friend got a black coffee and while he enjoyed his first two cups, he insisted the third was burnt, so that's touch and go. We needed caffeine so we stopped here to get coffee. We entered the coffeeshop and it is attached to a boutique, souvenir, store. You can go in there to shop around while you wait for your coffee but back to the coffee place. They carry baked goods, food items, and have a great selection of hot and cold beverages. The coffee was great and I love that they have smiley stickers on the counter that you can place on your coffee cup. For a state that has more coffee drive through shacks than anywhere else I've been, Jitters is a wonderful reprieve from the drive-thru mentality (although they do have one of you need it)! I've noted in several reviews that people ask or state they don't understand why everyone is obsessed with jitters. Well, here's the secret: it's owned by locals who've built a small community of wonderful coffee lovers. You walk in the door and see many people you know from the community. Your kids see friends and have a welcome place there. People love the ambiance. The beautifully built rock fireplace, the variety of cozy tables and a handful of club chairs. To top it off, the crew that works there are genuinely nice people, good and making coffee (former barista myself) and the food is fairly good. It's not in-house food and you microwave it yourself. But otherwise good food. Our kid loves the variety of cookies they have and seeing his favorite baristas and various locals he loves. read more

Always a good place for snacks and coffee. My coffee is always burning hot and when I have to wait for it to cool it's then cold. But I know temperature preference is different for everyone. Their snacks are always good but they don't always have vegan options as they switch what they have day to day. read more

Jitters is a great coffee joint!! We stopped in this morning on our way to run some errands. Don't be turned off too much by the line that is almost always present, they move you through pretty quickly. Saturday morning is generally pretty busy, leaving very little table space, but when you have cozy little corners and a lovely fireplace, what do you expect??! They're busy, trendy and comfy. I find that most of the staff are nice but every now and then I feel like I want to buy one a latte to help perk them up!! We all have those days though and I find it few and far between. read more

You can tell this place is loved by both the locals and people visiting. It was packed! But still, everyone was friendly and the service was fast and very prompt with getting our drinks. They have the normal coffee offerings as well as specials--my husband got a more normal drink and I got a special (some kind of lavender latte) and we both liked our drinks. This is a review of Jitters and using DoorDash. DoorDash is not affiliated with Jitters and it's just a delivery service. I order my usual items: a coffee, bagel, and some yogurt from Jitters and I've been consuming their products for years. I really enjoy their food, their drinks are sublime, and they're really great people. Today, I order from DoorDash and the dasher decided to put that delicious food by my neighbor's lawn sprinkler and steal my coffee. So not only am I upset that the dasher did this, but DoorDash blamed it on Jitters. I'm sorry that's not their fault and I'll testify to it. To anyone that orders here, you will enjoy the atmosphere and the food, but go in person. It's not worth the headache, the politics, and lies with DoorDash. These days I go to Jitters more for the comfortable atmosphere than the coffee. There's plenty of seating, especially compared to other coffee shops in Eagle River. Prices are average compared to other coffee shops in the area. I really liked the staff they had a few years ago, but none of them are working there any more. Now the employees are mainly high school and college students. The service is generally nice enough, but the espresso drinks are hit or miss. Usually they're just okay, nothing special. I'm not sure if this has to do with lack of proper training or the baristas are just trying to get drinks done as quickly as possible when it's busy. I actually prefer the cookies, scones, and other baked treats they make in-house. They're more expensive than the other baked goods that come from other bakers in the Anchorage area, but it's worth it. I really liked the pumpkin praline bread pudding and the giant pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, but they don't have them every day. Overall it's a nice place to meet someone for a casual conversation over coffee, but not my favorite place in terms of the quality of the coffee. read more

The barista did not listen to my coffee order at all. I asked for 3 shots and leave room for cream and 1 shot or a splash of vanilla. Relatively a simple order. What we got was 2 shots and no room for cream and a full dump of vanilla. To make our coffee taste like vanilla water. we then asked if we got a 3rd shots and she then dump the 3rd shot which made absolutely no room for the cream we wanted to put in. read more

Honestly. A quaint homey place located right when you enter Eagle River. It really is lovely. A perfect place for a Sunday breakfast and to read the daily paper. I had the tuna melt and it was amazing. The coffee selection is phenomenal and its all fresh. No old coffee that's been in the pot for hours. Then it was the moms and tots. Then after school, it'll be the kids. That's the standard flow of regulars, I'm told. Everyone certainly did seem to know everyone else. Latte was a bit burnt with bubbly foam. Not as artistic as I hoped. The GF muffin was sweet but had a moist, chewy texture -- very satisfying. The art on the walls is fantastic. I would've walked out of here with that beautiful photo of a lonely polar bear gazing at the moon if I were not a humble folksinger on a very limited budget. *sigh* When I leave Alaska I won't be dreaming of the coffee, but I will be thinking about the photos on the walls -- northern lights, landscapes, and that glorious bear. read more

I am a coffee addict and this is my regular go to place. Most of the staff recognizes me by name and I have very little deviation in my morning sludge cup. I do like to stop in some times for a dessert coffee and the flavor options feel endless. It is set up just like an all western bar with all the flavors against the back wall instead of alcohol. I love that. The food is good but a little pricey. The drive-through slower than you would like, but that is only because of the personalized service and fresh shots. A real Eagle River institution.
