Delicious, juicy, crispy chicken!…read more As usual, we're always ready to try anything that's fried. After reading the reviews for HenDough, we had to make our way there. This little café serves delicious chicken biscuits, sandwiches and freshly made donuts. We ordered at the counter, grabbed our buzzer and headed outside since it was a beautiful sunny day. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. Staff was warm and friendly and served with smiles. We waited maybe 15 mins before our buzzer buzzed. First of all, 10/10 for presentation. It looks as good as it tastes. Eggs, bacon, fried chicken, and a crème brûlée-filled donut. Every bite was delicious. I loved the jalapeño honey. It was so good, it even attracted some bees..lol. We truly enjoyed our meal here from beginning to end.

I stopped at HenDough for a chicken biscuit and a donut, only to discover I was wayyyy too late for…read morethe donut portion of that plan. The donut case was 110% empty. I'm choosing to take that as an encouraging sign, but unfortunately, I cannot review the donuts bc at this point they only exist in my imagination. I specifically had my heart set on an apple fritter, which I was told is a Friday-only situation. I wasn't there on a Friday, so apparently my plan had multiple structural problems. Anyway, I ordered the Nashville chicken biscuit, and about five minutes later I was walking out with the heaviest "road trip snack" I've ever encountered. Let's get straight to it: that biscuit deserves a Michelin star of its own. I'm not even a biscuit guy (if that's a category of person) but one bite had me reconsidering my identity. It gave me All Day Darling and Callie's Hot Little Biscuit vibes. Beautifully baked, soft as a marshmallow, and taste just like butter. Six out of five stars... yes, I understand the math and I stand by it. The Nashville chicken on its own was good, not great, but good. Mine was a tiny bit on the dry side, with a lightly crunchy coating. The seasoning brought some heat, probably plenty for the average person, but I personally wanted it turned up another notch. On its own, the chicken was closer to a three out of five for me. But if somebody could put Poppycox's Nashville hot chicken inside their biscuit, I think we could get nations around the world to stop fighting for a minute and appreciate what humanity is capable of. Overall, an easy recommendation. The biscuit alone made the stop worthwhile. Go early if you want a shot at donuts, and if you're chasing the apple fritter like I was, plan for Friday.

Lately, the only burgers I've been eating are double quarter pounders from McDonald's. I visited with my family and was surprised by how small and old-fashioned the bar looked. I'm not sure how old it is, but if they were going for an old-timey aesthetic, they nailed it. After a short wait, we were seated, and a waiter quickly took our order. I went with a patty melt, since it had been years, and added a side of fries, which weren't included but were hand-cut and prepared fresh daily. I checked the inside of the burger and noticed grill marks, which was promising since no gas was used. The burger had a charcoal flavor and was cooked perfectly to my preferred medium rare. The mayo had a nice zing, and the rye bread was high quality and toasted just right. The hand-cut fries, however, were a letdown as some were overcooked and a bit too oily. Overall, it was a good meal. I'd return to this place and try another burger, but I'd opt for a different side instead of the fries.

It's currently only drive thru, and had it had a lot of cars, similar to In N Out. We unfortunately only received two burgers after ordering three. No biggie, just had to back in drive thru and wait a little longer, they were apologetic, gave me my extra burger and we went on our way. Cook Out has some awesome cheap deals. You can get a double cheeseburger, two sides and a drink for only 5.99. And those sides could be a corn dog and a quesadilla. So a double cheeseburger, quesadilla, corn dog and cheerwine all for 5.99. What a damn steal y'all. Not only is the food cheap, but damn was it delicious. The burger tasted so fresh and a delicious ass burger. Reminds me of a double double from In N Out. The corn dog was nothing special but still pretty cool to have as a side. The quesadilla was surprisingly tasty as well. It even packed some heat in every bite. Cook Out definitely rivals the elite burger joints like Whataburger, In N Out and Shake Shack. That's the category Cook Out be in. All the other ones should bow down.
