Went for lunch today at 12 noon. Our order was taken promptly. Went to get drinks (iced tea) and the drawer of add ons (sweetener, lemons, salt & pepper) were all empty. Couple behind us waited and waited to place their order. Eventually they just left as everyone seemed to be occupied making milkshakes for drive-up customers. My barbecue sandwich was ok. My wife's small hamburger was way over cooked and ultra thin. Onion rings were ok. French fries were cold. Went to wash my hands in the restroom and towel trash can was full, but we were one of only two couples inside so hard to tell when last emptied. As we left the parking lot at least 8 cars were waiting for drive-up orders. Place seems understaffed to provide a higher level of quality and speed. read more

Food quality was okay but not really good. Burgers were fine, but the chicken wraps were kind of sad and not that good. Their bathrooms (both men's and women's) needed cleaning; wet floors and the very large trash cans were full of paper towels - clearly they had not been cleaned in a long time. I rarely review fast food joints but will occasionally make exceptions. I'm not sure why they only have a 2.5 rating though. Everything about this place was great. It's currently only drive thru, and had it had a lot of cars, similar to In N Out. We unfortunately only received two burgers after ordering three. No biggie, just had to back in drive thru and wait a little longer, they were apologetic, gave me my extra burger and we went on our way. Cook Out has some awesome cheap deals. You can get a double cheeseburger, two sides and a drink for only 5.99. And those sides could be a corn dog and a quesadilla. So a double cheeseburger, quesadilla, corn dog and cheerwine all for 5.99. What a damn steal y'all. Not only is the food cheap, but damn was it delicious. The burger tasted so fresh and a delicious ass burger. Reminds me of a double double from In N Out. The corn dog was nothing special but still pretty cool to have as a side. The quesadilla was surprisingly tasty as well. It even packed some heat in every bite. Cook Out definitely rivals the elite burger joints like Whataburger, In N Out and Shake Shack. I have been eating lunch there for over a year. Service up till now has been so-so. Today I went in and was greeted with a smile, and "How can I help you?". Very different atmosphere. Everyone was smiling. While I waited for my order, I was slow to pick it up from the counter, so one of the staff started to bring it over, with a smile and a here you go. Great change! I was visiting Hendersonville NC and it was getting late and most places were closed or closing soon. Since I'm not from the area I rely heavily on reviews. Most of the fast food restaurants in the area had very low scores and horrible reviews. So I was super reluctant to grab some fast food for a quick bite. When we arrived there were one or two cars in the drive-through and no one in the dining room. We were greeted immediately. The cashier was very friendly, and knowledgeable. My family and I stumbled across this place on our way to Myrtle Beach, we were actually looking for another restaurant but seen this place and decided to try it out. So they have some different items to choose from and not too bad on price. I got the Out West Style burger as a tray "combo" that comes with two sides and a drink, I just got double fries. Now the problem I have with this place is the food was just ok, nothing special...my burger was like the old saying "Where's the beef?" As you'll see in the pic I posted. They really have a lot of work to do to make this place outstanding. The staff seemed to be alright, but they really don't communicate much, and the place was a bit dirty, tables and the floor. This was my second and last visit. First time, I got a burger. The meat was cut in half. After three bites I opened the bun. It was literally cut in half. Tonight, I got a beef quesadilla. I bit into what tasted like charcoal. I opened it up, and sure enough, the beef was burnt to a crisp. I started getting nauseous, so I asked for a refund. The manager, Jonathan Drummond, said he would lose his job if he gave me a refund, because I had taken a bite out of it. He could make me another one, though. The first one made me sick. There was no way I was going to eat another one. I wouldn't want a man to lose his job, but I would think that Cookout would give him the authority to make things right. Didn't take too long to get through the drive thru. Ate my burger in the parking lot before getting back on the interstate. The burger was wicked good. I could've eaten two. Just went here for the first time, waiting abit to go from they just recently opened. I got a reg steak burger and lg fries and drink. I ordered my daughter a reg cheddar burger with lg fries and a Hershey milk shake. My burger had a lot of onions looked like a half of onion. The taste of this burger was terrible the fries i asked for the seasoning and didnt get, so fries were just ok. The drink a soda ok. Fresh fruits, candy, cookies, flavor syrups and peanut butter choices are plenty. My hands down favorite is peanut butter banana fudge. Chucks of fresh banana swirled in goodness. I almost couldn't use the straw. If your craving is for something hot the menu has choices for pretty much anyone. The fries are pretty tasty. Burgers, fries, hot dogs and more. Nothing special about the standard menu but should be noted that everything is very reasonably priced. I have not been inside this location but used the convenient dual drive thru instead. Service was fast and friendly even though I ordered for a car full of people. They are brand new in this location so it seems always busy but I have had no wait complaints either time I've gone. Now that this place is so near home I am undoubtedly going to need more stretchy waist pants. I don't think I'm the only one either, the entire community seems to be on the Cook-Out bandwagon. What makes Cookout so special, that people will literally go out of their way for, is the shakes. No one makes them like they do, or has so many. They're so thick, I call them "straw breakers". They're that thick, cold, and flavorful. And with more than fifty to choose from, you can't go wrong. Just be sure to get a spoon. You're gonna need it. As it was previously noted, the food is above average. Everything from the burgers to the chicken pairs quite well with any shake. Just don't expect too much. In a drowning sea of McDonalds, Burger King, and other fast-food franchise chains, this regional/family-owned is a welcome option. Especially in the summer. read more
