I've been to quite a few of these in the past. And I found this one quite lacking. And I'll list off why. 1. There were no directions or guidance when dealing with the sauces. In most I have been to they give recommendations on how much to use. This one didn't. And due to this it's way to easy for anyone who isn't proficient in the sauces won't have a clue what they are doing and this ruins the dish. 2. Told them my wife has a pork allergies several times. We where told that they would be careful and make.sure everything is clean for her dish. And yet now she's at home dealing with her allergie acting up. And feeling like complete crap. They ignored our issue. 3. Cause my wife's and daughters dishes both got ruined mine was a ok but I have a better sence of the sauces. But I also don't tend to use the sauces they do so I would have made the same mistake. So I ordered them some vegetable egg rolls (spring rolls) which held like three shaved prices of carrots and a litte cabbage In a rice paper that's rolled about half the size of a roll of dimes. Which looked like the ones you can get prepackaged from Sam's Club. 4. We felt rather ignored by the wait staff on the issues and service. If I could give less then 1 star I would. I have tried this still of restaurant before and liked it. Went in at around 3:30 with the Wife for a bite. You pick your meal, i know that sounds funny! When i say you pick, i mean you go up to a salad station and pick from Chix, Pork, Beef, shrimp and a few others, then you pick what veggies, then sauce and finally rice or noodles. Give to the cook then go pick a salad. For two meals and two beers under $30. The house garlic sauce was great! read more

Came here again after several years. The quality of the raw meat and veggies is very good for the most part. Service great. But the only downside to me is I am used to other Mongolian places where its one price for unlimited bowls. Not complaining because I want to be a glutton. But the fun of these places is to make small bowls of various types of stir frys with different veggies, meats, sauces etc. Then you really learn what you like. At this place, you get one bowl. So you make it as big as possible knowing that's the only one you are getting. You better hope you like what you made because there are no do-overs. With all those fantastic sauces and ingredients available, you get one shot at experimenting. There is also a trip to the soup and salad bar but I'd just as soon skip that for a second stir fry bowl instead. Yes I did see that there is an option to upgrade to endless bowls. If you are looking for a family restaurant this is not the right place. Staff just stare on the kids and want to get them out as soon as they can. Not many choices for kids, just the nuggets and fries. I visited this place with family 2 kids, my wife and my mom to celebrate mothers day. This restaurant ruin my celebration. My kid got nuggets and I haven't even started when we were offer the box to go. I was not half done when waitress was watching when can we pay the bill and leave. So disappointing. Then comes the add ons, everything is an up change which would be OK but PF Chang's this certainly is not! Jiang's does Mongolian a bit differently than most. We were pleased with the freshness and they had some choices we hadn't seen before. But the preparation method is what really made an impression. This is expertly prepared, as if they are serving you a dish they are proud of. In addition, the clam chowder was actually delicious! read more

I am having a hard time determining which dish poisoned me last night.. was it the general Tao's chicken, or could it have been the fried shrimp app? the general Tao's chicken was a big container of slimy mush. the breading was so slimy i couldn't stomach more then a few bites.. awful dish... unfortunately being as hungry as i was, i was forced to eat the fried shrimp. they actually had a good crunch which offset the bitter taste of the shrimp inside the breading.. i even mentioned to my wife "these taste kind of funny, but i'm so hungry i am going to eat them".. After about 2 hrs of an upset stomach.... it all came up... several times... for 30 min... FML... I never get sick from food either, it was the first time i threw up in over 3 yrs.. still a tough call though.. was it the chicken or the shrimp??? I was pretty excited to see this place open. now i will be happy to see it close. Don't waste your money on sub par food. Fun and flavor all in one amazing experience. Instead of the typical sit down and pick from a menu style restaurant, you get to go to a multiple counters where you can choose exactly what you like in your Mongolian dish. The sauces are amazing! Their house sauce is hands down one of the best! To top it all off, you can watch as the chefs prepare you're careful selection of ingredients on top of a large flat top. The food is cooked to perfection and tastes delicious. I was taking my high school daughter out last night, found Jiang's on Yelp, and decided to give it a try. I'm a fan of Mongolian bbq. We were greeted by a pleasant, but quiet, hostess who seated us and gave us the run down on the how-to's at their grill. Bowl in hand we went to start our selections. They had a good selection of meats - chicken (plain or spicy), pork, steak (plain and peppered), fish, scallops - you get the idea. Lots of good veggies, sprouts, water chestnuts, bamboo, everything I wanted, and at least eight different sauces. I chose the teriyaki and added garlic, there's a variety of spice combinations to add as well. Then your choice of noodles rice etc. After enjoying the salad bar (included) our finished main dishes were delivered to our table. It was delicious! The seating was a little close together and the employees were quiet, felt like they were kind of shy. Overall a great meal for about 12 bucks plus drink and tip. I'll go again! read more

The restaurant has seen process improvement since my initial visit and review! I visited for the second time to give it another chance and was impressed. Waitstaff very helpful and gave clear direction. Food is still fresh and much more variety than the previous visit. Fairly good selection of proteins and veggies including seafood and tofu. Seems on Sunday though the veggies are getting old. Mushrooms tend to be pretty brown by this time. They also have a good selection of sauces and peppers and spices to add as well. Starches are rice noodles, regular Chinese noodles, or white rice. It's a bit more expensive than I've found elsewhere. $9 for lunch bowl and $11 for dinner and Sunday (Not happy with the Sunday upcharge - hate it when restaurants do that!) It does come with free soup and salad bar, albeit a mediocre one. They only stock the standard cheap iceberg mix that used to be popular before the public discovered romaine, red leaf, radicchio, etc. Soup is obviously out of the can but is pretty good. Anyway, I come here for the stir fry so no biggie. Service is pretty good and they do a good job of helping 'first timers' navigate the process of building your dish. The grilling is always done well. They always seem to get my dish about perfect - noodles still intact, veggies still crispy, sauce completely mixed in. Atmosphere is casual but very nice. Very clean but the floors are STICKY. Change that mop water guys! Overall this is good food in a good atmosphere. Would have been five stars if salad bar was better and veggies kept fresher. I was in there last weekend with my husband and kids. Okay restaurant, food portions were okay. I really didn't understand the process especially with so much noise in the restaurant. I, however figured it out and got my food. Food was okay, meat tasted a bit old. Which worried me, as I am unsure how long meat sits out. Guess it's the risk of these types of restaurants. My family and I love this place. It was nice that they had a choice of an Asian and American soups. The salad bar had all of my favorites. The meats and seafood were good quality and were absolutely delicious. They had a wide variety of sauces and I like that you can choose from different noodles/rice. the concept here is create-your-own stir fry and it is very hands-on. you control the amounts and proportions of EVERYTHING- protein, veggies, sauces, noodles, seasoning. there are lots of options- shrimp, chicken, beef, pork, krab, even crawfish. there is also tofu, which i chose, but it's hiding with the veggies instead of the other proteins. i was a little scared when i walked in and saw big piles of raw meat just sitting out buffet-style, but it is nice to be able to control the exact amount and sample different combinations. i ended up with a TON of food, for a dinner price of $9.99 which is pretty good, really. for $2 more you can get a bottomless bowl which is kind of crazy. i was not 100% satisfied with my bowl but when you are creating your own dinner, how much of that is really the restaurant's fault? i think there is some trial and error involved in getting the proportions and combinations right. for example, i would err on the side of more sauce and choose a different noodle next time- but overall, it was pretty tasty (the 50/50 combo of peanut and ginger sauces was successful). read more

The veggies were all very fresh but the meat selection looked and tasted like it was sitting out for quite some time and yes there are tons of sauce selections but they kind of all taste the same. The service was not great and the food was sub par. There are a couple of plus sides though. We were in and out, no wait, the price of course, and the vast selection of food. We had dinner here last night, excited about the prospect of a new Asian restaurant in the area (suburbs typically = boring chain restaurants). I probably had unrealistic expectations; my hope was that this place would resemble Big Bowl on a smaller scale. Upon arrival, I realized this is primarily a create-your-own stir fry buffet with a very small bar area. The salad bar and soup are included in the meal for $10.99, which is a good value. But the salad bar is pretty unimpressive, with iceberg lettuce and some basics. Two soup options were offered; clam chowder and miso. The bar for building your own stir fry had a fair amount of options, most of which looked fairly fresh. Various meat options are available including chicken, beef, shrimp, crawfish, imitation crab (gross), and sausage (odd for a stir fry joint). The veggies options for stir fry were okay but not vast, and not many Asian inspired. (No snow peas or sugar snap peas, shiitake mushrooms, etc.). For noodles, you can choose primarily from rice noodles or what appeared to be fettuccine type noodles. Overall, the food is decent, prices are good, drink options are fine but a little limited. I wouldn't recommend this for a special night out or anything, but its fine for grabbing a quick dinner on the way to a movie or something. read more

The staff had little to no personality and the wait service was also marginally okay. I've come here way too many times. Every time, my food is absolutely amazing! The salad bar is decent. Not horrible but alright. Always get the beef with rice. Love that there are many sauces to choose from. The staff is very welcoming. Very attentive. And the price of everything is very reasonable. First time visiting there, I expected a higher check. I have been to Jiang's multiple times. It is very reasonable priced. The selection to create the perfect meal is very good compared to other Mongolian grills I have visited. Jiang's excels in the selection of proteins, unlike other restaurants they have multiple meats to select from. The other big draw for me is they multitude of sauces they have, this allows for a new experience every visit. They also include soup and salad with the meal. Lastly, the decor is excellent for a date or celebration, but price is what make this place the best restaurant in Algonquin. read more

Put as many as u can on the small bowl smash all the chicken, beef or seafood and vegetables plus the noodles separate plate. Ask the cook which is the best sauce that hey have ( its the kicker). Boom its a big bowl of stir fry noodles that the waiter will bring it to your table. Don't forget the salad and soup while they frying stuff. read more
