I used to really love coming here until today. First off, at the line of where you chose your ingredients for your bowl; that was all mixed over the place. Not sanitary enough. Really looked like they couldn't maintain keeping it clean as customers come through the line. Second off which was the worst was a bandaid in my food?? The entrance feels crowded and the proximity to the "buffet" area is too close. The restaurant seating is L-shaped. If you are sitting in a booth/table around the outside perimeter (next to a window), waitng for other patrons to enter or leave their table and/or the waitstaff - it can be a bit problematic on a busy night. We had to wait for the waiter to explaing the menu and grill service and take the drink order of the table next to us, before we could exit to begin our meal. There were two soups to choose from when we visited: Hot and Sour (which is overly spicy) and Clam Soup (none of chose this option). The salad bar has ice berg lettuce, pickled beets, 2 kinds of olives (green and black), tomato wedges (they didn't properly prepare the wedges - the black is visible - where the vine attaches to the fruit - and left in tact, marring the tomatoes appeal), pre-packaged grated cheese, tiny croutons, thin crunchy chinese noodles, boiled eggs (halved), pineapple and several different kinds of dressing (including Ranch). Oh - there was 1 highlight here to mention - Freshly made Bacon instead of bacon bits. The grill portion had Chicken, Shrimp, Scallps, Peppered Beef, Pork and Tofu as options for protein. And veges included several types of Mushrooms (including Shitake), Fresh Jalepeno slices, Snap Peas, Corn, Baby Corn Cobs, Bean Sprouts, Green Onion, Broccoli and Carrots. After you fill your bowl, find a Red Tray. Place your bowl and Sauce/Sauces (ALL from a bottle - look up, you will see the bottles on the top of the buffet), and then use a separate salad plate located next to the noodles to add noodles to your plate if you wish). Take the Red tray and your noodle plate, bowl and Separate Sauce, along with the number they give you at the table and present it to the cook, cafeteria style. Now... go sit down. No, I am not kidding. You don't get to watch the chef prep the food. The servers, who are Incredibly slow, are going to bring your bowl to the table. More than likely, your bowl is going to sit there for awhile. Why they are doing the grill this way is beyond my understanding. Also beware - There is no House Sauce! Every Mongolian Grill I have been to has a "house" sauce. You usually augment the house sauce with whatever extra sauces you choose. This place only uses the pre-bottled stuff on the sauce bar. They don't have a squeeze bottle of terriyaki sauce on hand, or a house Mongolian Sauce, so you won't have a base unless you choose one of those options from the sauce bar. I made the mistake of putting a side of sweet chili only on my "red tray." The food Eventually arrived at our table, with only the sweet chili sauce on it. I asked why there wasn't a Monglian flavor to the dish. The waiter said "You have to choose it from the bar." Okaaaay - I ended up adding Soy Sauce to the dish to make it edible. Honestly, we won't be returning. While the food is fresh, the wait staff and sauces are just too big an issue to overlook. Plus, it really isn't fun to sit and wait for your food to be grilled. Part of the experience of a Mongolian Grill is Actually watching them Grill your food. I can only give this place 2 stars. It was okay... but we won't be back. read more

Love the "make your own" concept. Great price! We have been several times and enjoy trying new mixtures each time. We have introduced friends & family and have been thanked. Only down side is waiting area is a little tight with the salad bar area & wine selection is pretty limited. But still outweighed by the great food & friendly staff. read more

I visited this place for the second time a few days ago, and I have to say I really like it. I missed a good Asian buffet- style restaurant in Algonquin ever since Asian cuisine closed down couple years ago. This is not exactly a buffet, but pretty close to it. The $9.99 (for adults, $4.99 for kids under 6) Sunday bowl includes unlimited soup and salad, and a 'you make your own' bowl of meats/seafoods/noodles/veggies/souces. I have to say that their hot and sour soup is amazing, my husband loved the clam soup. The salad bar is pretty good, too, except that I wish they had romaine lettuce, not just iceberg lettuce. They give you a small bowl for raw ingredients, but when it's all cooked and done, they bring you a huge bowl with freshly cooked food. I was amazed that kids get exactly the same amount of food as adults, but it costs half of adults' price. Since my 5y.o. is not a big eater, she just had salad and some chicken with rice (you get a choice between white and brown, included in the cost), and we ended up putting all her portion of food in a box and taking it home. I think the concept of this restaurant is great, and the cost of food is decent. I love that they have a good selection of beef, chicken, and seafood, also a lot of fresh veggies, 12 or 15 different sauces (which I like to mix up and have at least 4 or 5) and it is all cooked fresh in front of you. That way I can be sure my family ets healthy, we can control our portion sizes, and there are no unnecessary ingredients in our food. I took a friend here last night and we were both pleased with our meal. I'm a fan of the whole mongolian grill/pick your own stir fry thing so I really enjoyed building my meal and watching it being grilled as we waited. Good choice of meats and veggies, and excellent choice of sauces and spices. Now that I know it's here, I hope to be coming back more often (and maybe bumping up my review to 5 stars for continuous good food). read more

Love the food at Jiang's Mongolian Grill.. Choosing your own ingredients is such an awesome idea. I have been there many times and every time i am there i'ved had a great experience. The food and sauces are very yummy, i choose tso sauce (mild) and teriyaki sauce with noodles, shrimp, chicken, corn, onion, peanuts and every time it is delicious. The servers were great and the cooks are great too. Just wounder if temperature is checked on the raw meats constantly? read more

Love this place! Nothing like it around. Small salad bar but does the trick, did not like the soup (very bland), but the food is fresh. Love the concept that the customer gets to create your own stir fry bowl. There are a decent amount of options from various meats, veggies, sauces (the general tso sauce is my favorite) and then your choice of rice of noodles. Excellent. We've been there twice and it was awesome both times. This place has a ton of variety and everything I tried so far tasted amazing. The service is friendly for the most part. This restaurant overall is great the food is awesome and the staff is great, but there is one exception to one certain waiter and I remember the name clearly. His name is ALEX and his service was awful, he don't seem to even know what he is explaining himself, the first time I went the other waitresses were awesome but this time I had a horrible time and didn't enjoy my food or time with family thanks to your waiter. I think being such a nice restaurant you need employees that do their job well and have a good appearance. Love this idea, pick all the meat and vegies you want into the bowl they give you, then when you have it piled high you pick a sauce from like 16 available, and then whether you want noodles or rice or whatever. They have an option of a bottomless bowl for an extra $3, but let me tell you, I just did the regular bowl and I walked out of there feeling like I wouldn't have to eat the entire next day. Personally I love Shrimp and Scallops, so I loaded up on those with like triple I would ever normally get in a meal and it was great! Plan to go back soon :) read more

Rude staff... Gross food! Our first and only visit. The 2 ladies at the hostess stand were very abrupt and short with us when we walked in, treated us like we were interrupting their time. We went at lunch and not very busy (red flag). Our server came over and took our drink order but completely forgot and brought everyone water, then we had to reorder and he reacted like we were a bother. The meat station looked disgusting, all the meat was slimy. Good thing, I don't eat meat. But I know it should not look that way! Many vegetables were sitting in water and soggy. The sauce/spice station scared me. There were these "tasting" spoons to try out the sauces, you were just suppose to dip it in the sauce and taste then dispose. Think about that... Double dip... GROSS!! My daughter did not finish her meal, we asked for it to be packaged up, our server threw it away! No apologies, nothing, just a shrug of the shoulders. If you dare to try this place be sure to read the menu carefully and all the hand written signs placed throughout the food stations because they "nickel and dime" you on everything! read more

Place looks nice, but here were my family's issues: 1. Salad Bar was a joke. Chopped iceberg lettuce, a few token veges and canned fruit, and the ranch dressing was completely out. Presentation was bad too. It really looked unappetizing how it was all laid out. Salad bar would look great if you like chopped iceberg lettuce and canned fruit. 2. I appreciate that they allow you to portion your own meats, but overall my meal was bland bland BLAND. Not enough sauce. Where is the rice? Lots of the noodles were completely out. 3. Bad Layout. Crowds at the door waiting to be seated made it difficult and uncomfortable to navigate the salad bar and the "make your bowl" stations. 4. Undercooked food. I was the only one in our family to receive undercooked food, and mine was pork. It was still pink and cool, and was rubbery. Not good. NOT SAFE. 5. Really wish the restaurant had a comment card or a private email. I would much prefer to bring all this up privately. Overall, none of us were satisfied with our visit. All of us felt that the salad bar was basically gross and unappealing. None of us felt our food was sufficiently seasoned. read more

I was VERY tentative when adding raw beef and shrimp to my veggies; raw beef and shrimp that's sitting out in the display case rather than in a refrigerator. Was also very wary of the small tasting spoons allowing patrons to sample the sauces (double dip!). Whatever the case, I've had food poisoning for 2 days - I don't know if it was from Jiang's, but I'm not going back. I highly recommend they remove the meat and fish from the display case. read more

We tried this place twice - tables are sticky and unclean. The meat quality is sub par. The containers with rice and two types of noodles are a big mixed up mess. Sauces are fine. I took five pieces of chicken and some peanuts and veggies and NO jalepenos. Another person in my group took jalepenos but NO Peanuts. A third person in our group took tofu and NO peanuts, chicken or jalepenos. To say there was some cross contamination between the dishes would be an understatement. Each of us ended up with some ingredients we didn't chose. Luckily we could pick out the jalepenos and no one was allergic to peanuts. I had one piece of chicken in my dish - wonder if the "chewy" tofu my friend had were rogue pieces of chicken from my dish. The hot sour soup was fine. Meat quality was subpar IMO but another person in my group thought it was fine. Waitress was friendly. They need to clean the tables and not cross contaminate. Not going back. read more

Nothing overly creative here - if you've been to a Flat Top Grill or Mongolian Barbecue, you're looking at the same idea. The concept works and these folks do it just fine --create your own stir fry dish from a buffet style assortment of ingredients. Good selection of proteins, vegetables, and sauces. Note: I had both chicken and shrimp and didn't have any sort of gastrointestinal issues some folks described on here. Thought the food came out cooked quite well and wasn't concerned about food temperature at all. I thought leaving the spices next to their sauces in their various restaurant-sized Mccormick packaging was a little tacky but not so much that it ruined the experience. The salad bar is extremely minimalistic, but for the price, including a soup/salad option to munch on while your stir-fry is being cooked is a pretty sweet deal. Overall, a pleasant experience with a good value and I'd recommend to friends and plan on enjoying again. read more

We went back in December, they had just been open a few weeks and I had a coupon. We have been to Stir Crazy and Flatop so we knoew what to do, but our kids did not. Liked the options to create your own bowl of food. The salad bar was small and nasic, and not worth mentioning. The soup was good. Server was horrible, and we had to get another one to come by to refill our drinks and take away our dirty dishes. We even had to ask him for some bread, and he never came back to refill that. I think it will be s success, but they need to iron out the kinks in service, get a better salad bar, and have more sauce options. Will try it again with a coupon. read more

Shit place now I have come here dozens of times always liked it but when you come into a restaurant and see one of the workers kids eating with a spoon out of the sauces that the customers are grabbing from and then dipping that same spoon back into the sauce that is absolutely disgusting. We love the flat top restaurants and were excited to try Jiang's. The experience was nothing exceptional. The meat was diced not thinly sliced which made the steak a little tougher. There was a lot of variety for the sauces and spices. The result was tasty but not something I would say was outstanding. Overall, the service was very good. I'm sure we will eat here again for the location, but I will still travel to Bollingbrook if I have a real craving for Mongolian. read more

Jiang's Mongolian Grill is great value for the money. For lunch on a Saturday, we paid $7.99 each for a salad, soup & create-your-own bowl. Even the soft drinks are cheap - I think it was about $1.70 for unlimited refills. The process was easy to figure out as a first-timer - no confusion there! I enjoyed the freedom of choosing my own ingredients and loved taste-testing the different sauces. It was fun to watch the food being cooked on the flat top grill. My husband said they have more meat options than similar places. The service was wonderful - our drinks were being refilled before they needed it. I love the stick of gum and wet wipe they bring with the bill - nice touches! I was blown away by this place, especially compared to the price. Great food, great fun and incredible value.
