Placed an order online and will say absolutely disappointed with my order and service. Upon arrival the wait was short. I paid automatically with a credit card. Then my food is brought out but before I can leave I'm told that they made a mistake on line with pricing and I owe them $0.75 more which I did not care and gave them $.08 but I wonder if they owed me the $.75 if they would be so willing to give it back to me. Then the owner comes out and starts taking my food out. If you place an order $50 or more you get an appetizer for free. our previous visit they forgot it and we were told the next time when we place an order to remind them and they will give us one. So since this order was over $50, I got one appetizer for free plus the appetizer that they forgot about last time. The owner comes out and starts digging out the additional appetizer. You only get one you only get one. Which I nicely explained to her that they owed us two. Very unpleasant woman. But the disappointment comes when I get home and opened all of the containers. Mongolian beef was horrible. It's called Mongolian beef because it's supposed to have beef . The dish is 90% onion couple noodles throw in and a little bit of beef ....just horrible. Same thing with other two meals where you had majority of vegetables and no meats or shrimp. Very disappointed with the order. They are becoming hidden and miss restaurant. The exterior of this place needs help, but don't let it sway you from coming in. Inside, the dining room is bright with window light pouring through thin curtains. They keep the temperature nice and cool and there's a TV playing the news. The person that took my to-go order was cleaning pea pods and she was very polite taking my order. We ordered: Beef Fired Rice Shrimp Lo Mein Hawaii Golden Delight (just okay, the sauce was a little much, so we were glad they gave it on the side as a to-go option) Hot & Spicy Fish The prices are steep for Chinese, but the flavors are solid. I had stopped ordering from here a few years ago because the taste and quality of the food was declining. I was passing through and was craving Chinese food hard, and this happened to be on the way home so I decided to give them another try and I'm glad I did. The food was very tasty and my family and I enjoyed it. I ordered Lo Mein, Pepper beef, walnut shrimp, and bbq pork fried rice. The portions were large and enough for 2 meals. Finally tried the Gourmet House Chinese food. (Back in the day, this was a Julie Ann's ice cream place. ) The food here is pretty good. We had it delivered and it was plenty hot when it arrived. The beef chop suey is ok, but a little different than what we're used to locally. The gravy isn't as thick and dark as most places. It also includes mushrooms and the miniature corn cobs. It was also too light on water chestnuts, which I love. Tasty, but just different than we expected. Next up is the General's Chicken, which is very good! The BBQ pork fried rice is really good as well. The crab rangoons were alright too. All in all, a very good dining experience at the Gourmet House. read more

Should I say it? Oops we did it again? This place has the tendency to start skimping out on customers when business is going bad. You can complain all you want and you won't get an answer to satisfy you. Should I blame myself for ordering more? I ordered a large Lo Mein with extra veggies. EXTRA. What do I get when I open the box. Someone already took a plate full of food out of it?! If you order food, would you accept it when 1/3 of the food you ordered wasn't in the box? I want to remind the owners that they do have competition. They are not that good. They did these things under previous management, giving you a small box of rice claiming it was a large. Maybe they rehired the manager that was there before. Not a good look guys. Gourmet House is a traditional Americanized Chinese restaurant. What I mean by that, is you will find all your Chinese restaurant favorites here. Service was busy with carry out and delivery- we didn't see anyone seated so I asked if it was carry out and delivery only- someone must have heard me because the lights came on brighter. We ordered jasmine tea which was delicious, an order of egg rolls - fresh tasting and hot to the touch. House egg foo young and firecracker chicken. Portions are generous and service is quick and friendly. Everything about our experience was above average. Will definitely be returning to try other entrees. read more

We used to eat at Gourmet House all the time. It was one of our local faves and it never let us down. Recently we noticed a change in the food and it has fallen off our list of local favorites. We always order Chinese on Christmas; it's been a tradition for 20 years. As tradition goes, we ordered it yesterday, late afternoon. It was ready for pick-up before the scheduled time, which was nice because we were starving. My husband arrived home with the food which was piping hot... however, it's just not that good anymore. It's pretty bland and greasy. We had a variety of options (noodle dishes, rice dishes, Crab Rangoon and Egg Rolls, etc) and everything was mid; nothing stood out as anything we would rush back to get, which is disappointing because we always look forward to our Gourmet House Christmas dinner. read more

My favorite time to go here is for lunch. It's easy to get seated immediately. The lunch specials are amazing, and are a bargain. I love extra spicy and they will make it hot hot hot if you ask. Extensive menu has something for everyone. They can accommodate couples, 4 tops, and tables up to 8 with ease. Great for carry out too. The food and service is fantastic! The restaurant is further than we would normally go for a meal out, so it took years for us to actually go in, but I am so happy we finally did! It's my new favorite Chinese place. We had crab rangoon and the lunch portion (yes, you can order from the lunch menu on the weekend!) of kung pao chicken, which came with rice, an egg roll and soup. The hot and sour soup was not too "hot" and the won ton soup had GIANT won tons. The kung pao chicken was only a little spicy (we will ask for extra heat next time as we do not shy away from spice) and way more chicken than veggies, which I have never seen before. The restaurant is clean and has plenty of seating, and the server was very friendly and attentive. When my daughter ordered the won ton soup (not included as one of the lunch soup options, which was hot and sour, and egg drop soup), she asked me if it was ok as there was a price increase (by the way, the portion was huge and totally worth the extra $3). Who does that?! It was awesome! At the end of the day, the food and service is amazing, the portions are large, and the bill was only $29. I wish I could give more stars!! read more

I am highly dissatisfied with the meal I received from this restaurant. I ordered SPICY shrimp fried rice and I made that clear over the phone but received the regular version of the food. Then I asked for a smoothie made natural because I find out they add sugar to it but it came out dilated like melted ice in your favorite soda drinks. The experience was very dissatisfying. If they at least got my fried rice the way I asked for it, I might not be writing this review right now. I recommend, if you are reading my experience, to have better listening skills. And if you can not make the food spicy, just say it, don't have customers paying for what they didn't ask for. It will save everyone the disappointment of wasting time and money. I do not like the taste of the food in my mouth because it's not what I asked for, not because it is bad. I still finished it but I did not ask for it. And please create a natural smoothie menu. This place is going down hill. We have learned that this place now has new owners who don't care about their customers. We ordered egg foo young and found what appeared to be packaging materials in the patties. Also the sauce was burnt sauce. We complained and the owner did not care or make the order right. We also noticed that the sweet and sour sauce and chili sauce that is given at the table is reused, meaning if we used a little bit they will give it to another table.
