I ordered my "as usual pepperoni and sausage" I'm along with a 6 inch steak sandwich which I like with cheese, pizza sauce, pickle, and onion. The steak sandwich was delicious and I would put that above the pizza when ordering. I know that Joe's is a hometown, staple for this area and many love it, however I did like the crust and the Italian sausage was very good. The sauce wasn't as good as I had hoped, and if I had my preference for Dayton style pizzas I would take Marion's or Cassano's any day over this. Pricing was good on the restaurant was clean, including the restrooms. I will go back and give it another try but as my first time here, I was not impressed with the pizza from what I was expecting.

But, while you're in the area, you need to eat. We were looking for Italian, and the Yelp reviews led us here. It's a small not-a-chain Italian restaurant. The ambiance isn't why you go, it's the great food! I say that because there are only 3 tables inside that can seat 4 or 5 people maximum. And it's not fancy looking. But the pizza was excellent. My adult daughter declared it was the best pizza she'd had in a couple of decades. And she's a picky eater. We all enjoyed the pizza. A especially nice touch is that they have a bulletin board where people have pre-paid for meals for people who can't afford to eat. If you are in that situation, you walk in, choose a receipt, and take it to the counter to get your free meal. It obviously hadn't been abused, as there were at least a dozen pre-paid receipts there. We really liked that community service aspect. But the only reason I'm writing this review (after the fact; sorry I didn't get photos) is that the pizza was great and the cost was also great. We highly recommend them!

The cheese had stellar pull, we had to try to scoop 3 times to put the slice on the plates. The marinara is a garlicy variety, so we liked that. Garlic gnotd were fluffy moist on the inside and nicely baked on the outside. The staff was all so nice! We definitely will be adding them to our regular choice board for our family!

The most recent time I visited, the atmosphere was very lively with patrons watching the Ohio State vs Michigan game on the 2 large tvs! I got a slice of the deluxe pizza, veggies with pepperoni. This pizza was also very good. The crust seems to have gotten a bit thicker over the years but the soft fluffy crust with a crunchy bottom is a nice add... just makes it slightly harder to fold in half like I use to but no complaints! We were starving when we got there since we had gotten up early in prep for the 2 hour drive. We skipped breakfast. I wanted the nachos to start, but there was a charge to add the salsa on the side. I can't eat tomatoes so was annoyed with the upcharge. We went with the wings. We should have skipped since they came out with the pizza and were mostly burnt on the back sides and were dry. Not sure we would eat here again. But it was a pretty busy afternoon with people getting to go pizza.
