Heard from multiple friends how great this place is, so we took a little stroll over there one night for dinner. We sat out front with our puppy, it was a beautiful night. The place was hopping but the waitress was prompt. The food was GREAT! There seemed to have been a lack of hummus and pita bread ratio on our plate (or we just ate it to fast). We will definitely return. read more

Absolutely delicious traditional Middle Eastern food. 11/10 would recommend. It's delicious and having been to the Middle East I can attest that it tastes like really good Middle Eastern food. read more

Never disappoints. This place is delish. Everytime I have been here, the place never messed up an order, the food was always delish. Staff is always pleasant. Definitely one of my favorite places. Sadly I can't eat here since I had to move out of Colorado but it is a must when I come visit. read more

One of the best Middle Eastern Restaurants I have ever been to! Really! You have got to try it! The place is small so it can get a bit cramped. read more

I'm a third-year student at DU, and during my first two years, I lived about three blocks from Jru's (as it's known among DU students). The hours are AMAZING - they are open until 4 AM Sunday through Wednesday, and 5 AM Thursday through Saturday. Yep, you read that right! I grew up in the suburbs where everything closes around 10 PM (sometimes earlier), so places like this are a welcome change. On top of that, the food is delicious. I've tried many Middle Eastern restaurants and Jru's never disappoints. Oh, and the prices are very reasonable - perfect for a college student's budget. Try the hummus - it's fantastic! read more

The $10 Gyros plate comes with hommoss is probably the best gyro meat I've ever had. I've also had the chicken shawarma which is also good. I don't recommend the beef and beware of this tent like restaurant can get desert hot during the summer. Open till 4am for last call binge drinkers. read more

This is definitely a hidden DU gem. It is open late and feels like you stepped off the streets of NYC into a busy little family esque sort of place. The service is attentive and quick and the food was well priced! They have a small parking lot and lots of options on the menu. We had the beef and lamb gyro pita and it was super good and very filling. You can add stuff to the inside as well as desired for an extra charge. Everyone seemed to have these beautiful platters though with yellow rice and pita and hummus and meats of all sorts. I can't wait to come back and try some more! read more

I really keep wanting to like this place because my best friend loves it but I just can't seem to get into it. The rice is good, the pitas are good, but the meat just doesn't do it for me? And I can't really tell you why!! I end up eating a few bites and being done thinking I'm full. I take the rest home and never eat it. Just never seems appetizing. It's a tiny place and I do like the "neighborhood" feel to the place. Another negative is that they do not have a liquor license so no beer to go with your meal :( . read more

We've been going here for years and despite the sometimes grouchy staff the food is generally pretty good. They have gotten a couple of new servers and the girl is actually almost cordial. For the price and the amount of food that you get, I think it's worth it. I've never gotten a particularly nasty plate of anything, but I don't often go there after 12am. It seems to be kind of a trend that the little places around DU have generally disgruntled staff. I wonder if it has something to do with the area? read more

This place defines awesome. I was first introduced to this place in 1992 and have been making the pilgrimage since. The food is so good my friends and I drive up from Colorado Springs just to eat here. The gyros are where it is at, the baba ganouj is fantastic and the hummus is so good you want to just lick the plate. If you have room for desert, you are doing something wrong. But, get the Lady Fingers to go! Mmmmm baclava in a roll. These guys are open crazy late (4am most nights). Gotta love places next to the University. read more

Whereelse can you get fantastic food any hour of the day or night? I thought so. Located right next to DU amongst dozens of eateries I can only imagine all do well with an all hours, insatiably hungry clientele. Jerusalem's dining space is not as great as its food. Still, it's adequate, especially the patio off High St. The dolmas, the gyros, shwarma, and even the rice, all delicious! read more

There are a lot of Mediterranean places in Denver, but they all lack a certain authenticity. Not this place - it's got the best and most legit Greek/Turkish food you can order. The place is super small and at peak meal hours (and the 2am drunk college crowd) forget about sitting down. You're going to stand and eat your meal, so suck it up. In the summer they open up the three tables outside, which is a nice treat for a late lunch with your work crew. The decor is horrible, but hey - that's what this place is about. Right as you walk in there is a large display cooler showing you all the delicious desserts that are hand made in the shop (their baklava will convert the Turk-ophobes out there), and the counter to order and pay is like you're walking up to a food truck. But it's all good people. The food is so fresh and tender and good eats that you wonder how you passed up this place for so long. Do yourself a favor and order the gyro plate someday for lunch with a side of hummus and pita bread. Do it. Do it. read more

We live close to this place and had heard good things (and seen the long line out the door quite often!) so thought we'd give it a shot. I'm a huge fan of falafel so to have an authentic Mediterranean joint nearby is going to be awesome! The restaurant itself isn't very big so if there's a line, don't expect to get seated quickly. We got ours to go and the food was ready to go in about 10 minutes. Portions are decent sized so don't expect to go home hungry :) Oh! And they're open until 4 am so it's a great spot to hit up for some late night food. Overall, I'm excited to have this place nearby and plan on going back soon! read more

I have no idea what any of the food is called. However, I know the lamb mixed with the beef is quite tasty with pita bread. I didn't like the stuffed grape leaves all too much. Overall, good midnight snack food. PROTIP: The cucumber salad thing with yogurt goes great on top of a stuffed pita. read more

I heard it was really good, went and tried it but my food came out almost instantly, was cold, pita fell apart, and just overall not a good experience. Even the baklava tasted store bought. Will not be returning read more

The food is delicious and the service is spot-on whether you come during the daytime and sober, or at 3am and perhaps not so sober. It's all part of the charm that is Jerusalem Restaurant. This is a unique place in the area, in that they open for business fairly early in the day and do a phenomenal job with lunch/dinner/regular meals, but they also stick around until the wee hours to feed the poor, hungry, disenfranchised DU students after the nearby DU bars give them the boot at last call. What's more is that no matter the time, you always get great service from the staff. My usual go-to (regardless of sobriety or lack thereof; it's delicious both ways) is the gyros plate! You get the gyro meat, the pitas, the rice, the cucumber salad, and the almighty hummus if you ask for it. With that being said, ask for said almighty hummus and don't look back -- My mouth waters for it as I sit here telling you about it. Their desserts all look great, but the baklava is OMG-so-good and has never left me with any desire to try out anything else in the dessert case. Have a meal here and you'll understand why their walls are so riddled with awards that they're nearly out of wall space. read more

The veggie combo is so tasty. I prefer to order my food to go and really enjoy it at home. I am a vegetarian so I can only comment on the veg options but all that I have tried is quite delicious. The dessert selections are amazing too! vegan tip: with the veg combo the babaganoush has dairy so get two helpings of hummus :) read more

Jerusalems's is awesome. I found out about this little tiny hole in the wall about 5 years ago. I live downtown and it's about a 15 minute drive through the city, but I am always willing to venture there to get their "Combination" platter. OMG, it's the best, you get a ton of food and can try a little of everything. I highly recommend it. Event though I have been going there for years, lol... I never ventured away from this plate. If you not that hungrey, then 2 people could definetly split this platter. Anyways, my only complaint is that the atmosphere is pretty getto, the only real seating area is on a build on patio through the kitchen area... I REALLY REALLY wish they would open a downtown or capitol hill area. Somewhere with more space, better atmosphere and parking. read more

Got into Denver late due to a delayed flight. By the time I got to my hotel it was already close to 10:30. The room service ended at 10:00 and I was starving! When I asked the front desk if there's any restaurant around that stays open late and the list seemed very slim picking... I turned to my best guide- Yelp and searched for restaurants still open neaby and the first one popped up was Jerusalem, it's open until 4AM! I ordered the combo plate, nammoura, and graybah to go. The combo plate had so many varieties, it was absolutely delicious. The desserts were heavenly! I told my hotel front desk to refer to this place next time somebody arrives late and hungry again! read more

Jerusalem Restaurant - The super combo is legit!!!! - Middle Eastern Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Jerusalem is... unique. Not just because of the atmosphere, although that's certainly unusual. The place looks like a tent, and I don't even know what to say about the music. Jerusalem is unique because it's a 24 hour restaurant that serves really good food. The service is slow, but they seem to be trying (maybe that's just a night shift thing; I've never been here during the day). The food is much better than that. The gyros plate is delicious, the shwarma and stuffed grape leaves are tasty, even the rice is good. This is the perfect place to go at the end of a night of partying, or whenever you're looking for something out of the ordinary. read more

A delicious place for mediterranean food! Right near DU campus too. I'm so glad I came here. My friend and I shared a combo and a fouel (fava beans) -- came with adequate pita bread too! We had more than enough food and had plenty to take home for future meals. It was definitely some of the more authentic mediterranean food that I've had. read more

Two words: Chicken Kebab. The other stuff there is so-so. The chicken kebab is perfectly marinated, grilled and served up hot on a bed of saffron rice. Oh and a third word: baklava. I'm certain they order this from somewhere else, sorry I don't know where that is. I'll ask next time and update this. I also like their tsitsiki sauce, tabbouli and fattouch salad when tomatoes are in season. The place is way too small, none too clean and seating area very cramped. Bathroom is on outside which is reminiscent of a 1970's truckstop. Edited to add: My previous 3 star must've been a mistake. Can't believe I did that. Sorry, Jerusalem! The food here is RIDICULOUSLY DELICIOUS!!!! I'm a vegetarian and was a little worried that they wouldn't be able to work with that, but the food here is great for both vegetarians and meat eaters :) I went with a group of 15+ and they somehow accomodated our big group. It was a tight squeeze but the food and fellowship was so good that we barely noticed! Awesome service. :) read more

I've eaten at Jerusalem on multiple occasions so I know what to expect when it comes to service. It's usually fine, not the best but the food is worth it. This time was miserable. Ordered hummus but our waitress did not bring pita bread until after our shawarma sandwiches came out even after asking multiple times. I know they just microwave store bought pita so c'mon, it's not that hard to serve both at the same time. Presented her with a Yelp voucher for free baklava with a check in, she disappeared after I showed her the voucher and after waiting ten minutes for her to come out again, I just left. On the way out, I walked by the drink station and saw the guy sneeze into his hands and continue filling up the cups after without washing his hands. Gross. Very disappointed in the direction this place has gone. Coming from metro Detroit where the Middle Eastern food is unreal, this was the best thing I could find out here. Will not be returning. Wow- truly one of the worst restaurants experiences I've ever had. Used to be one of our fave places. We waited over an hour for an online order, got the food, it was wrong, and then when we asked for a refund, they took our food away and refused to give us a refund or new food. Just stole $30 from us. To top it all off, the service was so rude. We were treated horribly. Please avoid this place. read more

This was our first time. Okay, it's tiny. But the food is to die for. The staff was WONDERFUL. Every single bite of everything we ate was fresh and delicious and warm and toasty. Falafel crispy, steaming inside. Awesome. Special combination #15 gives you some of everything. Saffron rice----perfection. Also added chicken schwarma and extra falafel. Warm and soft pitas. More than enough for the 3 of us. Delicious. I wish that I could give more stars read more

Seems like quality and service has gone down over the years. I placed a takeout order for two chicken shwarma - one with no onions/tatziki and another with everything and baba ganoush added) and was told it'd be ready in 10 minutes. I ended up waiting close to 30 for my order that wasn't even right - ended up receiving two tiny and overcooked/dry chicken kebab sandwiches with nothing but a sprinkling of lettuce and maybe a little tahini. Bummer! read more

Excellent food, great service. Affordable. Family owned place. Usually busy which means quality food. The deserts are excellent.

Let's start with the food: Excellent. I've eaten at a lot of middle eastern restaurants in the Denver area and a lot of restaurants in the middle east. The food here is excellent. Large portions (the last time I ate at Jerusalem my date and I split one of the combos) of good, authentic food. Now, the decor: Most of the time, I get the food to go. There are tiny restaurants, and there is Jerusalem. In the summer, sit on the patio and enjoy. In the winter, either get your meal to go or plan on getting cozy with your fellow diners. Don't let this scare you away (it is part of the charm), but if you're a fan of wide open dinning rooms, this is not the place for you. read more

This place has always been a go-to spot for us. Many many friends and family members brought here, and we've always LOVED the eccentric things about this place and come a lot, snow or warm summer evening. As long as you stayed away from using the bathrooms, all was well. And it hasn't been until the last year or so that I'm noticing we all always feel sick after eating here..... but this is the case. My husband brought me here the other night for my birthday, it was late at night and we needed something quick as we had other plans elsewhere in the city. He was so sick we had to race home and he spent the rest of the night on the toilet. Food still tastes the same and everything was quite fresh like it normally is on a Friday night. Going home afterwards, I wasn't as sick but it still did not agree with me. I think their soda/water fountain badly needs cleaning as I took a tiny sip of his Coke and it tasted nasty like mold. Pros: Falafels (when they're fresh) are delightful, hummus is amazing, and cucumber salad great. The gyros are substantial and tasty, not those nasty foul shaved-mystery meat mall kind of gyros. Rice is good, and salads are usually fresh and crisp. Staff is usually friendly and helpful, just make sure you repeat your order back to them to ensure you got everything, as some of them speak English as a second language. Cons: Beef and chicken are usually a hit or miss. On good nights they are tender and juicy, on bad nights, dry and overcooked. Bathrooms are... just stay away. You have to go outside to use them, and yeah. They could do a better job of wiping down tables and sweeping up after folk who make a lot of mess. I hope they do some spring cleaning. We might come back again and bring our own drinks. read more

Food is good. Service 3 out of 4 times has been bad. Tonight there were about 4-5 people staffed but we didn't have anybody check on us the duration of our eating stay. I had to go ask for our pitas that went with our combinations. Our server that said he'd be right back with our pitas, left as his shift was done and didn't return. The last time I was there I ended up getting my own napkins and water after being seated 15 minutes on the patio. The people at the table next to us ended up doing the same. For some reason I keep going. I guess I have just come to expect the service to not be good but the food to be good. read more

Don't even.... The big plastic green tent located in the Denver University area on the corner of Evans and Hight Street. Extreme disappointment which LITERALLY turned a romantic evening into coming home hugging the porcelain throne. We pulled in the very tight parking lot and entered the fast-food/takeout-like eatery called the Jerusalem Restaurant only to be "greeted" by a couple douchey college-aged hosts. Upon first entrance (Later we discovered that there are TWO entrances - one for the dining area; one for the order/take area where most McDonalds have a better decor atmosphere. The douchey hosts told us (NOT led us) to go behind the clerk area, through the kitchen to get to the dining area. Further confusion continued as we were served by four waiters/waitresses who were all very unwelcoming and cold. We just ordered water seeing that the drink menu was very blah. The water was served in cheap paper cups......so this IS a fast food joint. We ordered the Falafel and Hummus Combo and the Grape Leaves from their vegetarian menu. Three minutes later, one of the unenthusiastic, douchey waiters brings our food to the table. It LOOKED delicious but tasted rather...excuse me for saying again, blah. The falafel tastes like hushpuppies and the grape leaves very bland almost having a pickle-like flavor. The hummus was very lemony and oily. Sadly, the best part of our meal was the water and pita bread. When yet another server gave our check, he didn't even bother to ask how the meal was. I suppose that's a sign of their awareness of the poor food quality but they're only waiting for Chef Ramsey's visit. This place really needs help. read more
