Chicken Tender Kabob Entree
Mirella K.

Good food! I came here on a Saturday night for dinner; Jerusalem Cafe is nestled on a busy street in downtown Oak Park where you can find street parking (and a super cheap parking garage nearby which is where we parked). Inside is a very humble, down-to-earth vibe with seating dispersed throughout the restaurant. There were lotsss of takeout orders and people coming & going. We opted to dine-in with our meals. The employee who took our order was very friendly and helpful! She answered all our questions. We got the chicken shawarma and chicken tender entrees, which came with rice, veggies, pita, and a small thing of hummus. If you want sauces it's 65 cents each (I got the white garlic sauce and their spicy green sauce). The meal was good; it wasn't anything out of this world but it was definitely yummy nonetheless. I wish the sauces came with the entrees. My sister got the lentil soup too; it wasn't the greatest. I think their fattoush salad would be a better addition to the entrees instead of the veggies since it's a bit more authentic that way. This was the first mediterranean place I've been to that served veggies instead of some sort of Arabic or fattoush salad on the side with their entrees - it was still good, I'm just used to having salad instead and think it fits a bit better! Overall I had a good experience here at Jerusalem Cafe.

Very good! Review context: Ordered delivery, live about 2.5miles away/15 min away during the time it was delivered. This was our very first time ordering from this restaurant. What we ordered: Chicken kebab dinner that came served over yellow seasoned rice What we thought: Delicious!! Final Rating: 9/10 -- the only thing that would make this 10/10 is a fresh lettuce salad with a drizzle of evoo instead of cooked veg. It would make it feel a lot fresher and add texture. Otherwise, AMAZING!

Thank you, Jerusalem Cafe and UberEats. I'm home sick with Covid and all I wanted was a fresh fruit smoothie. My son ordered the combo platter plus a sandwich for tomorrow and he's thrilled too. Quick delivery. Fabulous smoothie. So fresh and cold, like arrived still icey cold! I think I'll order another for dinner.

The food was delicious. A lot of rice. It came with a very small container of hummus which I wish would be a little more. It also came with pita bread.

I got the lunch special combo platter and it was OK. The chicken and rice were by far the tastiest. You go to the counter to order & it was pretty quick. Medium sized space with tables & chairs.

Food was freshly made...Falafel were good with the garlic sauce. I couldn't really tell the difference in the shawarma and chicken tender sandwich because the flavor was the same to me! The food was great either way!

My chicken shawarma entrée did not give me what I was expecting since I was told that it had hummus but it didn't. I paid for tzatziki sauce which also tasted a little different because I don't like the tahini sauce. Maybe I need to try another time. My bf enjoyed his beef shawarma sandwich so that was a good thing. Added due to owners prompt response: I was explained that it comes with Tahini while I wanted to substitute but could not so I paid the difference. This is after the cashier went to ask the owner in the back. All you had to say was you don't care about my feedback and satisfaction unless it meets your liking sir. Thank you!

The falafel was good, but a little salty. I plan to go back and try a combination platter.

I love this place. Favorite Middle Eastern meal in OP. Skip the grape leaves, but other than that, excellent.

North Avenue Falafel is located on North Avenue of course, but it's way out west around Oak Park. Has more than just falafel here with lots of classic items. There's options for both meat eaters and vegetarians who will find lots of good things. Came in around lunch and got a combo. It's about $12 for a typical one. They also have a few cheaper lunch specials. Had to get the Falafel Platter. This is the place's signature item after all, so it had to be good, and it was. I came with eight pieces of falafel. Quite a lot for a platter at this price. Lots of good ass stuff on here. There was hummus, Jerusalem salad, pitas, and rice. Falafel is the main thing it seems, but there's actually plenty more. There's side items like salads and soups. Have to make a return trip over here some time and get some more of the falafel and some other items. It's the best at lunch when there's some specials. There's more than just falafel, with a few meaty choices, and lots of choices for vegans and vegetarians.

We ordered a combination platter #5 (chicken and falafel), a chicken wrap with fries and a drink, and hummus with pita. The food was amazingly fresh and delicious. The fries were so crispy and the hummus was very flavorful. I loved the Lebanese olive oil that was in the hummus... definitely one of the best olive oils I have ever tasted. I was only able to eat half of the wrap and have leftovers for lunch. The employees were kind and patient with my family when we tried to decide what to order. They answered questions without complaint. The restaurant had plenty of comfortable seating and was clean and well decorated. The food is always fresh, and even a day or two later it still tastes really good which is a big deal for catering. This is definitely my go-to now for events. I'll 100% keep using them and recommending to my friends.

Getting to Rustico during construction (the street is closed) can be a challenge. Our biggest…read morechallenge was our GPS taking us to the alley behind the restaurant. That was nice, I suppose, but there is no entrance in the back. We ended up parking just down the street and walking, unfortunately in the rain. Some of that is important for as long as the construction lasts. Our GPS issue has nothing to do with the restaurant. It's just a friendly FYI in case it's your first time. The place was cute, but kind of ordinary. I was surprised when trying to find the restroom there is another big room of tables behind the bar. Servers were attentive, but they mislead us just a bit. Our friend asked about the paella and was told it was, or maybe could be (?) a single serving. Well... no way. It was massive. I believe he enjoyed it, but didn't come close to finishing it. I'd say it's easily a two-person meal. We were also told pizzas were individual size. The pizza had eight slices and could easily serve two. Mark enjoyed it. He ordered the four cheese pizza, which included blue cheese. I took a bite and definitely tasted it and didn't care for it. I think the blue cheese might have been one reason Mark DID like it. I ordered an appetizer, PULPO A LA PLANCHA from the Hot Tapas menu. It was quite good. I also had the soup of the day, which was mushroom. It was delicious! I finished all my food and was perfectly satisfied and full.
