North Avenue Falafel is located on North Avenue of course, but it's way out west around Oak Park. Has more than just falafel here with lots of classic items. There's options for both meat eaters and vegetarians who will find lots of good things. Came in around lunch and got a combo. It's about $12 for a typical one. They also have a few cheaper lunch specials. Had to get the Falafel Platter. This is the place's signature item after all, so it had to be good, and it was. I came with eight pieces of falafel. Quite a lot for a platter at this price. Lots of good ass stuff on here. There was hummus, Jerusalem salad, pitas, and rice. Falafel is the main thing it seems, but there's actually plenty more. There's side items like salads and soups. Have to make a return trip over here some time and get some more of the falafel and some other items. It's the best at lunch when there's some specials. There's more than just falafel, with a few meaty choices, and lots of choices for vegans and vegetarians. read more

Not super friendly. The food was odd. The beef kabob platter did not come in a kabob style. The salad was old. The rice was more like Spanish rice. The garlic sauce was 50 cent. I have been counting the minutes until I can get the koshari dish here again. I just had it on Monday and now it's only Wednesday and I'm planning to get it again - it was one of the best meals I've ever had. A friend and I each got koshari and drinks to go, as we were having a lunch picnic at a nearby park, and the (owner? employee?) gave us free water bottles to take with us, and made the orders so full we had plenty of leftovers for dinner. read more

Delicious! We stopped by on a whim for lunch after returning from a COViD test. We order a chicken shawarma "sandwich" and a Falafel Plate. The shawarma was super flavorful and my daughter said that the Falafel were were some of the best she's had. Not at at crumbly and dry. Was told there would be a 10 minute wait so ran next door to get something cool for for daughters throat and I looked up up and he was walking our order out to the car. Used to be my go-to place for falafel, baba ghanoush, shawarma, etc. Now the falafel are smaller, the "large" baba ghanoush was about a third smaller than before and didn't have the wonderful smoky flavor and aroma that it used to. Grape leaves-dolmas were small and flavorless. Won't be going back anytime soon. read more

Have been hearing about this place for some time and it was delicious! Babaganoush was particularly smoky and tasty. Hummus was good! I had the mezze special which had a little of everything. Yum. It was under-seasoned but not horrible... grab a few salt packets. -The rice was awful... definitely tasted microwaved. -Customer service is lacking. I drove past 2 Mediterranean restaurants to get here and the menu is completely different that what's online and the cook had a horrible attitude when I asked for alternate recommendations. He also tried to charge me $4 for a side of rice the cashier told me was $1. -Menu online is inaccurate and the restaurant takes no accountability. -Only waste your time and money here in emergency hanger cases. read more

I've been waiting for this place to open since I saw the "Coming Soon" sign appear a few months back. I dig me some Mediterranean food and with it being on walking distance of the studio, it might just turn out to be a semi-regular lunch spot. The front seating area is warm and inviting, with enough tables and chairs to fit probably 24 people. The counter area and kitchen look immaculate and are viewable from the eating area. I ordered the Kefta Kabob Sandwich and an small order of falafel. The Falafel are on the smaller side, but a small came with five, so it was a pretty decent deal. The sandwich was pretty darn big and the kefta was quite tasty. The pita bread it was in was rugged enough and the Jerusalem salad in with the sandwich was a lovely touch. The Falafel was made fresh upon ordering and the sandwich was assembled quickly. I got a side order of the Habanero sauce, which provided all the kick I require. I was given a sample of the Tabouli salad, which was refreshing and tangy. There's still so much to try here, I can't wait for my next visit. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Truly. I went with a kifka kabob plate and a side of falafel and the owner who was there threw in a sample of the chicken. The food was so dry. No sauce could save this stuff (and no one asked if I wanted any, so I had none when I got home with the order)- and I saw them cook it, so it wasn't just sitting around under a heat lamp. My mom and I ordered the chicken shawarma plate, the falafel salad, and a large hummus with pita. The chicken shawarma was covered in a white jelly substance that tasted like cream cheese. The chicken's texture was undercooked and the rice was soggy. 2.5/10. The falafel salad was 5 falafels put on top of this white jelly mixed with cucumber pieces. 1.5/10. The hummus did not taste like a thing! I smelled the pita and threw the rest out. 1/10. I have never had Mediterranean food as bad as this (I've been to perhaps hundreds of cheap-looking dive spots that have all been good). The woman that was working there was very nice, but what I ordered and what I received was a little off. The menu says all sandwiches are served in a pita pocket, but the chicken shawerma sandwich I ordered came in a tortilla like a burrito. The herb fries are just regular french fries.
