Yes, yes, yes! Ordered carry out beef Shawarma, chicken Shawarma, and falafel. Loved everything about each item. I placed the order onsite and it was prepared in less than 10 minutes. Each meal included, rice, pita, veggies and a grilled pepper. Gyro is offered as minced with beef (kofta kebab). The only downside is it's a bit of a challenge to get in and out of the parking lot because it's a busy intersection.

It was my first time trying Middle Eastern food and now I want to have it for dinner at least once a week. Our plate with fries and a drink fed two people for about $20 (that's with a tip), so the price is good and the quality is great. The right amount of spice & flavor! Also, they were playing some bangers (music) haha The cook had the same music taste as me and kind of made the experience even better. Their side salad (kind of like pico de gallo) was a beautiful addition to the chicken & rice, very smart whoever created this dish. Thank you. This fast restaurant made me want to try Middle Eastern food all over Chicago but also set the bar pretty high so that's nerve wrecking, not wanting to be disappointed (haa). Thank you Falafelji! They have decent food. Is it the most flavorful ? No . Is it the most authentic ? No. But if you want a quick bite of some middle eastern place then it does the job. However, for better options you will have to drive down Harlem few more miles to get something with more flavor or more authenticity. Also, if the name of your restaurant is "falafelji" then I expect it to be tour expertise and the best damn falafel and it is simply not. But if you are not used to middle eastern food you might like it. read more

This is one of those hole in the wall spots that serves delicious food with generous portions, it's soooo good. Especially if you love that white sauce I'd recommend stopping by here! (Call in advance for takeout bc it does take a while). Highly recommend trying the beef shawarma platter! read more

I've been going to Falafelji pretty much every time after working out at the gym near this place. It has provided me the protein and nutrients that I need to recover from a workout and food is phenomenal. I constantly end up buying their double meat combo platter with hummus and Arabic salad. I've also recently discovered their falafel and soup and they deliver every time these guys are great. The staff is super friendly! read more

Stopped by on an insanely hot day and had such a nice lunch by myself out of whim. Couldn't decide but wanted something smaller so I ordered a lentil soup and a side of chicken... the gentleman behind the counter was nice enough to let me use their sink and shortly brought me my snack and I was almost shocked. The lentils had great flavor, different from most lentil soups I've had at Mediterranean or "middle eastern" restaurants and an absolute tang that made me want them again. I'm one of those people that find cumin in small doses tolerable enough but the second it overpowers the other ingredients I get this sensation i'm tasting BO or someone needs a bidet immediately. Not the case here even though I absolutely would never dare use that much cumin ever but Falafelji went there. That grilled chicken was memorable! Finally, I've discovered the place that isn't afraid to season and sear a chicken breast without drying up the inside. Whoever was cooking that day came ready to feed my hypercritical ass and told my hanger to stfu in italics. Can you please open up a spot in the city? I promise you if this spot had a sit down restaurant with a carry out chicken special by UIC it'd be a Chicago thing. Thanks! read more

I ordered take out through their online option and the app takes Apple Pay or credit cards. I ordered falafel that I have been craving for weeks. Falafel did not disappoint but I wish I would have asked for sauce. Also ordered the chicken breast shwarma and it was good along with the sauce on top. Not a big fan of the rice but it will do. I will definitely be back. My daughter enjoyed the beef shwarma. read more

Food and service is excellent. Ambience is OK and clean, but expect a mostly carry out style restaurant. This has been my go to for falafel, hummus, falafel, pita, wraps, and most things vegan and Mediterranean/ Arabic in the area. For a quick, tasty vegan Mediterranean feast, try the falafel plate with hummus, as the sides and extra pitas to make falafel pitas. Once again, service and quality is always five stars in my experience. read more

I've lived three blocks away from this place for years and I've always looked and been scared to stop by and try the food, but after working out one day I was craving Mediterranean food and thought "why not?" Best. decision. Ever. First of all, the people at the counter were very welcoming and it was a clean environment, so much so that I chose to sit down and eat. Secondly, the food was delicious, and cheap! I got the Falafel Sandwich-- it was only $6.66, and the portion was not small at all, I was wholly satisfied with the meal. I'm going to return with my boyfriend as soon as possible, and I'll add more pictures of the food. I wish I took a picture of the falafel sandwich but I honestly ate it so quick I didn't have time. Best Mediterranean Spot you could ever go! I've tried many other places like these in different towns and citys but nothing compares to this place! It's so fresh tasting and delicious! Very authentic real food! I found this place on ACCIDENT while driving around losing my mind looking for veggie friendly foods..... I saw it, U turned, parked & walked into the best smells (like when you walk in a JimmyJohn but savory smells). AND I LOVED IT !!!! Apparently this is a real family run business, food recipes perfected overseas, & passed down from Father to Son. LOVE IT Lets start with the service = SUPER FRIENDLY, informational, & accommodative. I felt welcomed & super positive. I was invited to stay to eat, but was already headed somewhere. I appreciate the fact that he realized I didnt want anything with meat in it, and adjusted my offerings. THE FOOD was soooo GOOD. Like YEEEEA BOI! 1. The Lentil Soup - was absolutely the best that Ive ever had anywhere! I almost turned it up to drink it! 2. The Xtra Falafel - Definitely #2 of my Top 3 EVER 3. The Veggie Platter - SCRUMPTIOUS !!! The cucumber salad was mmm mmm good. The Hummus was so creamy & perfectly balanced (not bland or seasoned). The baba ganoush was good (I ate it even tho I usually dont). There was also even More Falafel! And, Maybe Tabbouli too? Didnt eat the pitas but they looked good too. I only meant to taste it because the smells were torcher.... a heavenly one... I'm out of town and just ate here 30 minutes ago and excited to write this review. I got the Falafel Pita, Baba Ghanouj and Grape Leaves. The Baba Ghanouj was smoky, and honestly the best I've ever had. I've never eaten warm grape leaves before but they were good. The Pita was very good and had a little kick to it. I am definitely coming back here for the BG and pita and trying other stuff out. Would recommend to vegetarians. The young man working there was very nice and helpful and helped me with my selection in a calm and friendly way. read more

We stopped in here for a quick dinner before heading to a party a couple of weeks ago. We picked it while driving past without knowing anything about it, and what a great accident it was! Food is a great deal, fresh, and great tasting. Perfect combination! The staff were all super friendly and helpful. We are vegetarian, and This is THE BEST FALAFEL I have EVER HAD! It is super fresh, and the garlic sauce is incredible. Plus, it's super affordable and fast and also really healthy. The people are incredibly friendly and efficient. BRAVO!! read more

This is going to be our new go to for Mediterranean food. The hummus was super creamy and delicious. The chicken shawarma was perfectly done and rice had a great flavor. The falafel was perfect. In the early 1920, my grandfather Hasan left his small village of N’ilin to go work at a falafel restaurant in the port city of Yafa. He learned the trade quickly and made some of the best falafel and hummus in town. My grandfather moved on to be a chef for the some of the Jordanian diplomatic missions around the world. He travelled around the world, cooking Middle Eastern specialties and learning about other food culture from different countries. My grandfather told me that the secret to good food is good ingredients. Always use fresh and high quality vegetables and meats was his advice which I followed all my life.

Today, I opened Falafelji, which simply means a guy who sells falafels, staying true to grandfather Hasan's advice.

The dinning room was fairly large as we walked in and sat close to the door. Pedro gave us the specials of the day and I ordered the seafood risotto ($32). My friend ordered the Fettuccine Fruitti di Mare ($30). Both dishes was good, with the right balance of protein and noodles. My risotto was a bit too cheesy but it was manageable. Service was very good, they stopped by to check on you and replace the dishes if needed. Overall, the food and service was great. There are plenty of street parking around the restaurant. I would come back for more next time.

While waiting, someone else comes in.. orders and pays, customizes their bowl.. receives their bowl ....and then is given an extra bowl that a customer didn't pick up and was told it was to make up for the "wait".. meanwhile, the worker who made my wrap has long disappeared and my order has been sitting on the grill. That person who came in after me, has now left. I only received my order a few minutes after that. Btw there were no other people in line waiting. Just me, standing there for over 15 minutes waiting on an order that was done. Also, the way I was talked to was not okay when I was asked was 'said bowl' my order. So unfortunately, this came across as racially motivated, since I was treated as less of a priority. And it's really rare that I feel that way but... this was a weirdly rude experience. Will not be returning. Thank you for my meal.

Late post Came here…read morelast night with some friends for dinner. For most of us, this was our first time. This place is located in a strip mall, so there is ample parking. Some staff are inviting, others, not so much. They have seating and music playing. I like that they offer options to choose an item from the menu or build your own meal. Some of my friends chose to do this. Another friend ordered a wrap, and I chose the chicken shawarma garden. They don't have their desserts on their menu, but they do offer quite a bit. We got a sampler which had a variety of desserts. The ingredients were fresh, and everyone enjoyed their meals. The fries are awesome, and I am not sure which dessert I had, but it had pistachios on top, and it was delicious.

I think the owner may have been at the door that day and seemed a bit frazzled (understandable). Also, a sign that says please wait here to be seated. When we arrived we didn't know where to stand so we went to the other side of the front desk and were somewhat scolded and redirected to go back around and wait. It was pointed out there was another family waiting to be seated. Hmm. But it was a busy day so we let that go. Fortunately we didn't wait long to be seated. The waiter, although not to experienced, was trying hard and answered all our questions. When we placed our order we were informed several items were not available. Hmmm. It was still early in the day, how do you not have the items. We ordered humus. DELICIOUS!!! Spanish Octopus with white rice, combination plate with lamb, steak and chicken plus the white rice, and finally lamb chops with white rice. Problem the octopus was served first it had superb flavor and not rubbery at all. That was my son's meal. Then about 5 mins later came my meal, the combination which was deliciously seasoned and the chicken was moist!! Finally 5-10 mins later the waiter came and told my daughter that the kitchen failed to tell him there were no lamb chops. So disappointed. They apologize and she ordered the combination plate which came about 10 minutes later. Needless to say my son and I were done with our meal. Problem: initially when we got the hummus we ate it but had to drink water because our drinks didn't come till I got my meal. I reminded the waiter and he explained they had to make the drinks. habiscus water and a mint lemonade. Hmmm Problem: when my son got his octopus, he didn't get a knife and I had to give him my steak knife so he could cut his octopus legs. Finally when we got the bill, we were being charged for the lamb chops!!! Needless to say Al Bahar was recommended by Albawadi Grill waitress. And yes the food is terrific! Even the white rice makes my mouth water. But the service and consistency needs much improvement. Although the waiter apologized, at no time were we offered some type of compensation for all the inconveniences experienced. Not that it's required nor do I expect it but it would've been a nice gesture. The table next to us complained loudly and they were offered free food. We complained subtly and no type of courtesy was extended. Do I recommend. Yes for pick up order the food is scrumptious and No I do not recommend dine in experience. They have much to improve! Goto Al Bawadi instead!! Their food is delicious, the service is very friendly and the humus and fresh made pita unbelievably delicious!

Came to this place on a rainy night. No regrets. My husband and i both ordered the chicken shawarma platter, and had some hummus, falafel, and tabbouleh. Tabbouleh was fantastic, the best I've ever had. The other things were also quite tasty and we were very pleased. Staff was very gracious. Only ordered kibeh and falafel. The kibeh was very good, crispy on the outside and soft inside... Not dry. The falafels on the other hand were not great. They are small in size which probably contributes to the being over cooked/fried and somewhat dried out. Will visit again and adjust review if needed. read more
