Chicken Tender Kabob Entree
Savannah H.

Very good! Review context: Ordered delivery, live about 2.5miles away/15 min away during the time it was delivered. This was our very first time ordering from this restaurant. What we ordered: Chicken kebab dinner that came served over yellow seasoned rice What we thought: Delicious!! Final Rating: 9/10 -- the only thing that would make this 10/10 is a fresh lettuce salad with a drizzle of evoo instead of cooked veg. It would make it feel a lot fresher and add texture. Otherwise, AMAZING!

Good food! I came here on a Saturday night for dinner; Jerusalem Cafe is nestled on a busy street in downtown Oak Park where you can find street parking (and a super cheap parking garage nearby which is where we parked). Inside is a very humble, down-to-earth vibe with seating dispersed throughout the restaurant. There were lotsss of takeout orders and people coming & going. We opted to dine-in with our meals. The employee who took our order was very friendly and helpful! She answered all our questions. We got the chicken shawarma and chicken tender entrees, which came with rice, veggies, pita, and a small thing of hummus. If you want sauces it's 65 cents each (I got the white garlic sauce and their spicy green sauce). The meal was good; it wasn't anything out of this world but it was definitely yummy nonetheless. I wish the sauces came with the entrees. My sister got the lentil soup too; it wasn't the greatest. I think their fattoush salad would be a better addition to the entrees instead of the veggies since it's a bit more authentic that way. This was the first mediterranean place I've been to that served veggies instead of some sort of Arabic or fattoush salad on the side with their entrees - it was still good, I'm just used to having salad instead and think it fits a bit better! Overall I had a good experience here at Jerusalem Cafe.

Berry Sensation Smoothie! Fabulous!

Thank you, Jerusalem Cafe and UberEats. I'm home sick with Covid and all I wanted was a fresh fruit smoothie. My son ordered the combo platter plus a sandwich for tomorrow and he's thrilled too. Quick delivery. Fabulous smoothie. So fresh and cold, like arrived still icey cold! I think I'll order another for dinner.

The food was delicious. A lot of rice. It came with a very small container of hummus which I wish would be a little more. It also came with pita bread.

I got the lunch special combo platter and it was OK. The chicken and rice were by far the tastiest. You go to the counter to order & it was pretty quick. Medium sized space with tables & chairs.

Chicken Shawarma Sandwich

Food was freshly made...Falafel were good with the garlic sauce. I couldn't really tell the difference in the shawarma and chicken tender sandwich because the flavor was the same to me! The food was great either way!

I came here expecting to meet Jesus Christ himself. Very disappointed that the name is so misleading.

The bread service was fantastic. The tomato focaccia and the baguette were both excellent and I had to remind myself not to fill up on it before the main meal! LOL! We started with the calamari which was very well seasoned and clearly not the typical frozen version you often see from foodservice distributors. It tasted fresh, was crispy, and well prepared. For dinner I ordered the margherita pizza which was simple and delicious. I ended up ordering a second one to-go for my partner who couldn't make it to dinner. He also loved it - even after it sat for ~30 min or so while we chatted more, then drove home to the Maywood area. I would imagine their delivery is pretty good based on that! My mom had the rigatoni vodka with added crumbled Italian sausage which she loved, and my dad ordered the Marcelino. He loved the generous amount of seafood and how well seasoned it was. My parents are big wine drinkers and my dad was especially impressed with the wine list and the selection available. Oscar was an incredible server!! He struck the perfect balance of being attentive while still letting us enjoy a relaxed, unhurried evening. The support staff and food runners were also fantastic and very friendly, making the entire service experience feel polished! I also loved the kitchen was more open which gives you confidence in the quality and care that goes into the food. The dining space is inviting with a nice bar area and an additional room that looks perfect for busy nights or private gatherings. Overall a great restaurant that we would absolutely return to!!

The table bread didn't come out until we ordered and we waited quite a minute to order because our waiter would take a while to come back each time. The restaurant was not crowded at all so it was hard to understand what was taking so long. The first batch of bread was hard and my child's pasta pieces were also somewhat hard. It was just a bit of a mess at first. Then all of our food finally came, plates were smelling good and that helped lift our moods. My husband said that his pasta was just really spicy and the flavor itself wasn't really there. My pasta (vongole) was actually pretty good. We had to ask for Parmesan which helped with flavor for sure but I tried to have no complaints once our dishes came out. It was a nice place to try. If I was to visit again, I would be going to try their paella.

Party of four, a Sunday evening. We tried a variety of offerings. Because Yelp doesn't breakdown…read morespecific ratings, let me do it: Service: *** Food: **** Overall impression: Barely **** There is a small warning at the end. I had their grilled salmon. It had a base of pureed butternut squash, a different temperature than the salmon, and the roasted/salted kale underneath, also served with pickled onion. It was fine. We had a small loaf of their bread as an appetizer, served with a goat cheese and a red pepper sauce (perfect spicing), also deemed very good. The hummus plate was also good. My partner had their eggplant dish, which she said was fine, not amazing, but good. Each of us, save me, had a drink (except me, the designated driver) of alcohol or wine. Also good to very good. I had their coffee, which (an Americano) was quite good. For a side, we tried their mac & cheese, which is mac and another pasta and cheese with panko, strangely delicious. I say strangely, because it looked pretty standard but the flavorings were good, and it retained its heat. This ran about $60ea (incl wine or liquor + coffee). Oddly, after decent beignets, I looked at the tab to find that a 3% surcharge had been added. I asked, Why? It was immediately withdrawn without explanation. I would recommend viewing their menu online to see if it fits with your budget and dietary desires. There are vegetarian entrees, and meat options (including an Amish Chicken half, which was rated good) that might suit you. It's good food. It is not totally amazing or exemplary, so no five stars. Would we go back? Maybe. Watch your bill carefully.

Mom tried the burger which was ok - nothing out of the ordinary. I tried the vodka pasta and added chicken. it was ok. The chicken was ok but not mind blowing. I feel the food was rather expensive at least my pasta which was $23 for the pasta and an additional $9 for a small piece of chicken so $34 for pasta with chicken which seems quite excessive. With tip and taxes $70 + bucks for two people with no appetizers, desserts, or drinks. Probably won't come back.

North Avenue Falafel is located on North Avenue of course, but it's way out west around Oak Park. Has more than just falafel here with lots of classic items. There's options for both meat eaters and vegetarians who will find lots of good things. Came in around lunch and got a combo. It's about $12 for a typical one. They also have a few cheaper lunch specials. Had to get the Falafel Platter. This is the place's signature item after all, so it had to be good, and it was. I came with eight pieces of falafel. Quite a lot for a platter at this price. Lots of good ass stuff on here. There was hummus, Jerusalem salad, pitas, and rice. Falafel is the main thing it seems, but there's actually plenty more. There's side items like salads and soups. Have to make a return trip over here some time and get some more of the falafel and some other items. It's the best at lunch when there's some specials. There's more than just falafel, with a few meaty choices, and lots of choices for vegans and vegetarians.
