We came here on a Tuesday, where they had a $12.75 "Fill-Up" special for the week. Note: This deal includes one of their signature burgers with a single patty, side, soft drink, and a small Dole Whip. I ordered The Aristocratic signature smash burger, which was made with Swiss cheese, grilled mushrooms, caramelized onions, garlic aioli, on the famous Martin's potato bun! It was amazing from the first bite to the last. I ordered thick cut fries for my side and it was very filling but delicious. Perfectly fried and crispy on the outside and 'mash potatoey' on the inside. I couldn't finish it but it was super tasty. The Dole Whip was the perfect ending. The service here was great. It was easy to find parking in downtown. And the restaurant was filled with happy patrons. Overall, it's a great casual vibe full of friendly workers offering tasty burgers and a delicious sweet treat - all for an affordable price.

I got the special, 'Merica, and mine was too much to eat also. We both got regular fries and I tried the French onion aioli but would not order the sauce again as it did not have a punch of flavor like I expected it should. They were quick to wait on us and then we sat down and waited for our food. It did not take too long for the food to get to us. It was clean inside and there were a lot of seating options. I liked my burger as well but next time I think I will order a single. Yes, I did like it enough to go back again.

I've always wanted to try this place since I first saw it awhile back. Seems like they only recently have inside seating (which is very limited). We decided to go outside with our drinks ... and then the bees were incredibly invasive and bothered us the entire time. The staff brought out our food to our table. Which was nice (except for the bees). The brisket smash was superb! Definitely delicious, and satisfied my hungry appetite. Combined with a side of fried okra (!) and coleslaw, you've got yourself a yummy meal. The ribs were not as great and my SO probably won't be getting that again. Am definitely looking forward to coming back here ... especially when I'm in the mood for a smashed brisket! I'm just sorry I forgot to take photos. Maybe next time!

The sandwich is about as long as my humerus, and I ate the whole dang thing in one sitting. New York Gourmet Deli is not to be confused with NY Gourmet Deli, also in Indy. New York Gourmet Deli is located on East 21st Street on the near east side; NY Gourmet Deli is on Ruckle Street, near The Children's Museum. Are they owned by the same people? I don't know, but someone needs to change their name so I'm less confused. Anyway, New York Gourmet Deli, on the east side, is great and located in an unassuming parking lot full of potholes. It looks like a liquor store from the outside, but step inside and you'll see the large deli counter where you order sandwiches, burgers, fries and other foods. The joint is also a convenience store, of sorts, with a wall full of refrigerated beverages, aisles of chips, candy, and lots of Mexican snacks. There's also a little corner of the store with goods like laundry detergent and other necessities. The hustle here is unmatched. The fellows behind the counter were flying all over the kitchen to fulfill the orders. I visited around noon on a weekday, which seemed to be a busy time because there were lots of people from all walks of life here, either waiting to order or waiting for their orders. The guys behind the counter were unflappable and took orders and made sandwiches at a speedy pace. Even if there's a line, you won't wait long for your food.

The building towers above the surrounding area, and we could see it from blocks away as we drove toward it. It has those old school Midwestern, small town vibes that you just don't see much anymore. The restaurant is large and clearly a popular local spot, so I'd recommend making reservations ahead of time. After a short wait, we were seated in their lively main dining room. They have an extensive cocktail menu, appetizers, and plenty of mains truly a menu where there's something for everyone. Think classic, down home American cooking in a casual, no frills setting. Our table sampled a little bit of everything, but if you order one appetizer, get the fried pickles! I'm a sucker for that cornmeal style batter and the sriracha ranch was the perfect touch. For my main, I ordered the loaded wedge salad and when I say this thing was HUGE, I mean it! It was practically an entire head of lettuce, so definitely expect leftovers. The wedge was cold, crisp, refreshing, and delicious. The staff were incredibly nice and attentive, the kind of place where they call you darling and greet you with a smile. It's not fancy and there are no frills, but that's exactly what makes it special. Good food, genuinely friendly people, and that classic down-home neighborhood feel.

Lemonade/ Tea mix seemed to be the special. It was ok, what I expected... taste like laptop tea and powder lemonade and I happen to dislike lipton tea and prefer real lemonade lol like made with with lemons... if I am wrong about my guess; please correct me. I got the 4 piece box mostly because it comes with coleslaw. One sauce comes standard but I did ask if they had any other sauce choices and was given honey mustard. I was skeptical about the Canes sauce because I didn't want dairy. They asked and assured me there was no dairy in it and I hope thatbis accurate. But let me tell you, the sauce really set it off! I like a kick to my chicken and they didn't have a spicy chicken option that I am aware of, so the sauce gave it some peppery heat. It was very unique. The fries were nothing special, neither was the slaw but YES to the CHICKEN! Tender and juicy inside; crispy batter but not extra crispy and perfect amount of batter. Some chicken fingers are mostly batter and a little bit of rubbery chicken. Not Canes! I wonder who sources their chicken because I feel like it was real... again I I'm wrong, someone correct me. The staff was kind, they actually smiled and didn't treat me like I was infringing on them for daring to patronize their establishment... thatbis the reaction of most retails/fast food.
