I like Jersey Mike's and I get the turkey mini wheat sandwich. I've had to yell at them to get it right many times, I would put in the order online including other sandwiches for co-workers and due to them NOT READING the online order, sandwiches would come back incorrect. I give the place one star because I think the food is good. But seriously, that tip question is bullshit. People give tips if a job is well done. I won't tip because of it 1. One of the managers said, "Hun....can you get that bag of chips over there and put them with the rest." Really? 2. They don't care if the sandwich is falling apart and a mess. They just wrap it up.... 3. They ran out of American cheese once.....HOW? It's like a main staple on a grinder. 4. Cheap on the amount of meat and cheese for the price. Picked up subs for my family the other night. We enjoy jersey mikes and derby is the closest available one. Always fresh, very friendly staff, clean environment. Only downside is it's a little pricey but hey, it's fresh! Definitely worth it. Look forward to returning. read more

Our whole family loves jersey mikes. Clean restaurant. Friendly and efficient workers. The subs are incredibly delicious and do not remotely compare to subway or any other shop except maybe Nardellis. It might be a bit pricey I guess but fresh rolls and freshly sliced cold cuts are a game changer and worth the money. read more

Dismally bad. We had a good opinion of this place, without trying it, because we once got a couple of really terrific subs when we were traveling through NJ once, and thought this was the same franchise. If it is a franchise, and this is just one bad location, then the head office really needs to monitor quality out in the field. If not, then this is simply a bad store. Same complaints as others: - way too much oil, making the sandwich mushy and unappetizing - unimpressive service - turkey from a pressed roll, resulting in clammy wet and tasteless meat - outrageous price, not at all warranted by the product you get - almost no choice at all in condiments and topping ingredients - Subway is waaaaay better here. My wife had asked me to get black olives and spinach as well as the usual lettuce/tomato and so on - hah! fat chance! The only good thing about this visit was that I will no longer drive past this store saying "I must try that place". That question has been answered! You couldn't pay me to eat here. read more

This is my first time visiting Jersey Mikes, and I was highly disappointed with not only the execution of the sandwiches, but the staff. I ordered the number 43 which is the chipotle cheese steak. The ingredients were tasty, but the sandwich was dripping in sauce and grease, I wish they set something on the bottom to catch the grease or toasted the bread! A far as the staff goes a little disappointing. I like I was greeted, but not happy that I could not distinguish between the staff and manager. When I finality figured out who the manager was I found that he was the most disgusting person behind the line. He was touching his face with his gloves on, wiping his nose on his arms, touching his mouth, ears and head with his hands. Not only that but an employee came late and was dancing behind the line laughing. There was no sense of direction, or leadership in the restaurant, the girl who took it order didn't ask if we wanted to change it or inform of what the process was, If we should pick up the food or if someone will bring it to us, just disappointing! Not to mention that I saw a lot of glove changing, but no hands washing, not a good thing!!!!! There needs to be some adult supervision and suggest a secret shopper from the company. I really love this place but saw the nastiest thing I can think of tonight. I come here often and have never had an issues until now. Granted I know I came at 8:50 but what I saw was very unsanitary. I watched the girl clean the slicer before she made my sandwich. She had gloves on but used the same gloves that she cleaned the slicer with that was touching a wet dirty towel used to clean the slicer and then proceeded to make my sandwich with the same nasty gloves on. All she had to do was change the gloves and this would have not been and issue. I work with food every day so I know. I hope the owner does reach to this right away as I am sure it has happened before read more

I've been to the Jersey Mike's in Wilton near where I work, so I was excited to see one open in Derby. This evening is the first and LAST time I will ever step foot into that restaurant again. The crew consisted of what appeared to be a lot of bored teenagers who were annoyed that their parents made them get a job. Nobody greeted me at all, nobody smiled, and I have never in my life felt more uncomfortable in any food establishment than I did tonight. I felt unwelcome and invisible to the staff. As I am standing in line, a girl near the grill asked me "hot or cold", so I gave her the name of one of the items I wanted, and she immediately jotted some stuff down on a slip of paper and handed it to me and walked away.I was trying to figure out why she handed me this piece of paper that looked like an order... I hadn't told her what size, or how I wanted it, or the fact that I wanted two sandwiches, not one. She never gave me a chance. She even wrote "TG" on the ticket, for "To Go" I'm guessing, even though I had not told her I wasn't staying. I guess she just assumed. So, I stood there, looking at the menu above, trying to figure out what was going on. I looked at the wraps, and I figured, well, maybe I'll ask for one of those once I figure out who is going to take the rest of my order. I see a guy making a sandwich on the grill. It looks like my sandwich. But, I'm thinking, it can't be, I didn't tell them what size, and I didn't get a chance to ask what kind of peppers are in there. Finally, the people in front of me were gone, and I was at the register, so I told them that I actually wanted a wrap as well. I think it was the girl who took my order that answered. In an non smiling face, she told me "we don't have any wraps." That was all she said. No explanation of why something on the menu wasn't available, just a robotic, non-apologetic, matter of fact answer. During this exchange, the guy making the hot sandwich sets it on the counter. The only reason I know it's mine is because the slip of paper is the carbon copy of the one I have. Nobody says anything....like "here's your sandwich." The girl at the register just stands there staring blankly. So, I take out my credit card, ready to scan at the little station in front of me, and she reaches out eagerly and tells me that's OK, she can do that. So I give her the card and she runs it. Unfortunately, I realize, it has become a credit transaction automatically, and I wanted to do debit. This whole time, the only sign of life from this girl was when it was time to run the credit card. I'm guessing it must have been like a new toy for her or something. Once the transaction was complete, she just hands me the receipt and card together. I don't think there was a Thank You. There was definitely not a smile. She immediately turned away after handing me my card. I guess I expected her to push the sandwich towards me, you know, actually hand it to me instead of just leaving it on the counter where the guy set it. Maybe even offer me a bag. So, I just took the sandwich and left, in a state of the shock over entire, uncomfortable experience. Now, at first, I was really disgusted and dumbfounded by the lack basic hospitality exhibited by the staff, but the more I thought about it, I realized it was probably not their fault. None of them seemed malicious. There was obviously just a complete lack of training and leadership. It's like they took a bunch of kids who had no previous job training, taught them some basic job functions (NONE of which were how to interact with customers) , and after 1 week, went live with no managerial support. There should have been some sort of experienced shift leader on the line at all times with this group, but I saw nobody in charge, and certainly nobody with a single ounce of enthusiasm. There are a so many other places in the area that are well managed and have wonderful service that I cannot see wasting my money at the Jersey Mikes in Derby ever again. read more

Like all the other reviews at Jersey Mikes Subs of Derby CT, don't waste your time... Not to mention $10 for 3/4 of a footling sub you can make or get anywhere else. PROS? Brand new, different, staff is very nice, food taste great, and fresh. They have places to sit inside and bathrooms which typically are clean. CONS? Way over priced! I've gotten better sandwiches at other stand alone delis. The wait time can frustrate you as people crowd in a line that doesn't make sense where you place your order and pay for your food. Everyone just gaggles in a circle waiting for your hot subs to be cooked. The credit card machine asks you what you want to tip making you feel obligated to tip, but you're already paying $10 for a skimpy meal made of "Steak Ums" like meats. For the valley this little shop belongs somewhere in Fairfield or Greenwich where you can get away with robbing people of their money. All in all this just isn't worth the stop. Go 1/2 a mile down the road to Taco Bell for the family. read more

Really fresh food but had to get my sandwich remade twice and they got it wrong again. I ordered the club supreme no roast beef and no bacon. Got tired of trying to get the right sandwich and left, will not return. FYI it wasn't busy that night, so beware! read more

Just ordered a #8 cold sub from Jersey Mike's in Derby and it was delicious! The workers were very friendly and the place itself was very clean and welcoming. I will definitely be coming back here again to try more subs, especially with all of the options that are offered! read more

I'm very disappointed with this Jersey Mike's and I'll never go back. Twice in the last 2 weeks I've gone there around 12:00(lunch time) and they didn't have any roast beef ready, so I left. I wonder if the owner knows he's loosing money because someone doesn't have their product ready to sell? Also the staff greeted me in an unappropriated manor. I'm in my 50's and don't appreciate a young girl addressing me as "sweetie". I think the manager should be replaced. read more
