It was the first time trying any Jersey Mike's and today we wanted Moe's but they were closed (front doors locked, yet one man eating alone inside). So, a few doors away was this cute sandwich shop. We looked up reviews and decided to try them. The restaurant is small as you might expect and spotless in the heart of the lunch hours. Five staff members were behind the counter and they operated so smoothly. The young lady who took our order was extremely helpful and friendly. They actually cut your deli sandwich order meat and cheese to order! All the ingredients from the toppings (lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, jalapenos etc) to the meats and cheese were just so incredibly fresh. I had the original Italian (mini) and hubby the regular big kahuna or something similar in name. The mini Italian was absolutely delicious and cold which was perfect as we had been hiking. The big kahuna was also terrific in flavor. Bathrooms were also very clean and well stocked. We will definitely be back. I don't believe I have ever ranked a sandwich shop five stars but from service to food quality to cleanliness, it's obvious the owner/management truly care and it shows. We signed up for their "my mikes program" and look forward to our next visit. Oh, we are both originally from the south and sure do appreciate the brewed ice tea!! Huge plus read more

Jersey Mikes is my go to grinder shop and the #13 is my go to sub ! BUT when I order I ask for the # 13 with EVERYTHING but no lettuce ! ,that part isn't a problem but either the person behind the counter leaves off all the good stuff or they ask ,peppers ,yes , mayo , yes mikes way , yes How come each person either asks about each item ,or like today I had to ask ,did she put on peppers ,no , mayo , no, mikes way , no, I don't understand why when I say everything but no lettuce ,why it's so hard !!!! I'm 78 years old and when I ask for EVERYTHING , I really mean any item in a tray or in a bottle !!!! Other than that I love Jersey Mikes !!!!!! read more

I've been going to Jersey Mikes. Never had a problem. Tonight my coworker ordered a regular with just cheese and grilled onions. The clown making it thought he was funny and put just cheese and grilled onions on the roll. No steak or anything else. Never asked any questions. I've been coming here for years! My normal go to is the cheese steak! Always fresh and delicious. I was upset in the past with an order for my son, but since then, nothing but good food and service! read more

haven't been here in years and now i remember why ! I ordered the bacon ranch chicken philly sub. I got the reg size which is probably like a subway 6 inch . It's so expensive here for the sandwich alone was over $10 dollars geesh ! The ranch and cheese was good but the chicken itself and the bacon were horrible. The chicken was flavor less and in strands like fake chicken not in chunks like you expect it to be .Don't call this a Philly sandwich meat game is weak. chicken steak'ems anyone. Bottom line they're way overpriced and for the quality of food ( mine and the other orders i was watching being made ) did not look appetizing. gonna be several years before i would try them again. read more

So for 4 years we've gone there and also order takeout 2x a week because it's the healthiest food in the area that's quick. Customer service is always mediocre and pick up orders have never once been correct. you subtract or add something and it doesn't get done etc. Today I went in and it was completely different. I got a sub in a tub as usual and they actually made it like a salad as requested. The gentleman was so accommodating to any substitutes, so polite and went above and beyond. I even asked him his name and he said MATT.. honestly I won't go back if that man doesn't make our food because he's EXCELLENT. Can they clone him? todays experience was 10/10 read more

Jersey Mike's Subs - Delis Near Me - Derby, Connecticut

Stopped by this location yesterday 3:6:23 not first time on the area but first time having the chance to try it with my niece and God-daughter. The place was clean there was only one person ahead of us. Christian greeted us after he was finished with the initial customer. Isabel came to assisted with dressing the sandwiches which was Giant Tuna and two regular Turkey she was.very sweet and then Aston came to cash me out. All three were very friendly plus a few people came in they hit a bit busy..One of the biggest thing was the wire gloves and changed quite often from food to register. The tuna sandwich was delicious I definitely enjoyed it. I will definitely return a d I recommend this location as well. read more

#6 Mike's Way with mayo. You're welcome. Yes, it's expensive - but nobody needs a giant sub. A regular is perfectly sufficient for most people. Jersey Mike's blows Subway, etc out of the water because the stuff is freshly sliced to order. Yes, their service is lacking - this place pales in comparison to Branford, but the roast beef here is so damn delicious that I'll deal with it. read more

If you're celiac, don't trust this place. They may have gluten free buns available, but they put everything, including all of the bread, on the same grill and they use the same counter for all of the sandwiches. When I ordered I specified that I had a gluten allergy, and if I hadn't been standing there watching I would have gotten so sick from it. When I asked if they could clean the grill and utensils, the person got a manager, who just repeatedly said they always do it that way. When I said I'd never been there before, she said "Oh, we didn't know you'd never been here before." How could they possibly know who had been there before? When I tried to explain how important it was that they tell people the food isn't actually gluten free and that people would get sick from this, she was completely uninterested. read more

Shocked by the lower stars for this place bc every time I come here they never disappoint me. I live 25 mins away & closer to the north haven location but I will only come to the derby location. They are always busy when I go BUT my Turkey & provolone is always amazing! They make it so good & this is literally my FAV cold sandwich spot. read more

First time eating a Jersey Mike's sub. I must say the bread is what really seals the deal. I ordered on line and everything I asked for was done. They even cute my sub into 3 pieces, I was greatful since I was eating on the go. I will be back. The place was clean and very busy. Happy I ordered online. read more

I've gotta say, sadly, that this location has gone downhill. From stale bread to dirty workstations. It's been bad the last 3 times we've been or got takeout. Sorry to see this happen post pandemic. read more

We went to Jersey Mike's just-opened branch in Derby, only to get harassed by the manager who then went on to incredibly rudely flirt with (and give cookies to) a girl in gym shorts with her boyfriend getting completely weirded out. He then scowled at all the other women in the line, as if they where ruining his shot at picking up a woman a third of his age. They left in a hurry, and he followed them out to give her a gift card and a wink. Considering all the employees let this scene unfold, and it completely ruined our experience here, we will NOT be back to this brand new and super convenient Jersey Mike's no matter how much I enjoy the brand. Unfortunate, especially considering this store just opened last week. I will update this review if anything changes. read more

Jersey Mike's Subs - Plastic #13 The Original Italian - Delis Near Me - Derby, Connecticut

As a regular at the Jersey Mike's in Norwalk (see my other review) I was looking forward to going to the new one in Derby. The food was just as good but the service was not. Apparently the staff was trained on what questions to ask but not trained on how to listen to the guests answer. She asked me what I wanted and then started making totally different sandwiches from the ones I ordered. While waiting in line to place our order we unfortunately had to listen to inappropriate comments and remarks a man was making to a female patron. This conversation was so outrageous when we turned around to see who was talking like this we were surprised seeing a man wearing a Jersey Mike's shirt. We will give it another try in the future and our expectation would be for much better service and manners. read more

Stopped in around 6:00 tonight for a quick bite. The three young ladies behind the counter were amazing. Absolutely great customer service. Had a roast beef which was delicious. They turned me on to the chocolate chip cookie made with Hershey kisses. I had it once I got home. Outstanding cookie. Best I've had in a while. Well done ladies. Good call. Keep up the good work. Stellar job. Thank you. read more

Jersey Mike's has always been my favorite. Recently however they are really skimping on the sandwiches. I bought a turkey sandwich and a roast beef, both mini's. They put 3 slices of paper thin turkey on one and 4 slices of paper thin roast beef on the other. Are you kidding me here. Almost 7.00 for 3 slices of turkey, or 4 slices of beef! Crazy! And this is not the first time. The last 2 times the same thing. Then to make matters worse, the girl dressing the sandwiches is taking her sweet time on the sandwich before mine, a call in order, and singing and dancing in her own little world while I am standing they waiting. I am done with Jersey Mike's and will be going back to Subway! With their new menu and bread much better value for your money! Sorry Jersey Mike, I grew up with you in Point Pleasant but we will now have to part ways! read more

Considering you pay almost 11 dollars for half a sandwich you would think AT LEAST the bread wouldn't be stale. Ridiculous, I understand not wanting to waste food but at least use it for the hot subs and heat it up. Disgusting I didn't wanna drive back because I live far. Overall disappointing. Do better Jersey mikes. read more

I love Jersey Mike's! I'm so glad I found one near me in Connecticut. The service at the Derby shop was great. Very friendly and quick. The subs here are so much better the Subway! I don't know why there aren't more of these franchises around here. Hopefully, the brand will grow and we'll see more stores. Remember, if you're getting it to go and "Mike's Way", get the oil and vinegar in a take out cup or it will make the bread soggy! - pro tip! Lol read more

My first time going to Jersey Mikes after seeing their advertisement. Ordered online. When I got home with my Italian Sub it had mayo. Who puts mayo on an Italian sub? When I called the person who took the call was very rude. I will be bringing the sandwich back tomorrow for a refund. This was my first and last visit to Jersey Mike's. Check your order before leaving. read more

Latest Visit Update: Me: "I'd like a #56 Big Kahuna" Worker: "Chicken or Beef?" Me: "Number 56, Beef" Worker: "OK" She made the sub. I drove home. Took a bite. CHICKEN. Twenty bucks for a botched order. Grrrrrrr..... read more

Ordering online was very easy. The sandwiches are really good due to the fact they use REAL bread and cold cuts. I love their #7 Turkey sub and the way it comes with oil/vinegar plus oregano. Food was ready before I picked it up and staff was very friendly and courteous. read more

You know, I don't know if I'll ever understand why you need five people standing behind the counter each performing a different task on your sub and each one asking you the same stupid questions with a look of cluelessness on their face. Jersey Mike's is over rated, high-priced sandwich shop. I find their subs are really really salty and they have limited toppings. Perhaps my three-star rating is even too generous. They are very high price for what you get. If we had any Jimmy John's in this area of Connecticut you probably would not even want to go to Jersey Mike's. read more

I wish I could give jersey mikes in derby more stars. I'd like to give them another try and I hope the owner reads the reviews and uses it as a tool for improvement. My husband and I have been here twice. The first time was when they first opened. It was unorganized and the staff was not the friendliest. We ordered a hot and cold sub and then 10 minutes later we were told we couldn't order hot subs at that particular spot. Why didn't someone tell us when we ordered it? ... It was new and very crowded so we understood. My husband really enjoyed his steak and cheese and I enjoyed my veggie sub. My only complaint is that it was soaked in oil, but I was still able to tell that the ingredients were fresh and the bread that wasn't soaked (the top half) was fresh and yummy. We gave them another try today. They've been open for a while now and we figured things would've been better than the first time. Unfortunately that's not the case. We went around 2:30 today and the girl behind the counter had a huge attitude. One example, when my husband asked for salt and pepper on the subs she replied, "we don't just keep pepper back here". Geesh he was sorry he asked! My husband got some kind of spicy steak and cheese. He loves spicy! He loads his food up with hot sauce or red pepper flakes. However, this sub was so full of spice that he couldn't taste anything else on it. He couldn't eat the sub. Mine was a veggie. Again, ingredients and bread are nice and fresh but what is with this place and their over use of oil and vinegar? I had to take it apart and eat it like a salad because the bread was just complete mush. My husband said before I opened it that she wasn't paying attention when she did the oil and vinegar... It was worse than the first visit. We did get a California chicken sandwich as well, my husband was going to bring it to work for lunch but since he couldn't eat the steak sandwich because of the overload of spicy he ate the chicken one instead. No complaints. They have the potential to be better. The ingredients are great! I think it's a serious lack in employee training. read more

Jersey Mike's Subs - Bread soaked to mush with oil and vinegar. :( - Delis Near Me - Derby, Connecticut

Been going here for a while. The subs are good but they keep getting smaller and smaller. Ordered a regular sized sub today and it looked like a mini. Thought they got my order wrong it was so small. Don't think we'll be going back. read more

Why is that I send someone to go pick up a sub and request turkey and chicken sliced then get a sub with hot spicy chicken cooked and then when you return back to the location and ask for the right sub you paid for with your money then ask for the right sub back in return due to the workers mistake then you hear nothing we can do we can't take it back you eat it why may I ask you hire the reject? is that anyway to run a business I mean your explaining to the person slice Turkey and Chicken then the person says cheese when you didn't even mention that on the sandwich I liked this place when I first got my sub now I'm never having anyone go back here again smfh why type of sandwich shop can't even make the right sandwich it almost sounds like Burger World from Beavis and ButtHead probably hire the same clientele. I went to Jersey Mike's about 11:00 AM. The place is very clean and very good parking. The food was good, but the same as other sub shops. There were 2 of us in line and the person behind the counter waited on the guy in front of me and before she was done with him she started to ask me what I wanted. Never looked up and was asking both of us how we wanted it made. The cashier not friendly at all. I asked if they had any take out menus. With rolled eyes I got a "No" it's on the web. They take the friendliness out of the process. Will not go back. read more

I NEVER give a review of a place after only one visit, so many variables can factor into a one-time bad experience I would want that to overshadow potential for otherwise very good experiences. I've been going to the Derby Jersey Mike's since they opened. Starting with the sandwiches - Five Stars. My family absolutely LOVES Jersey Mike's more than any other sub shop. That the meat is sliced fresh as the sub is being made is the first standout point, and a thinner slice on the cold cuts enhances the flavors of the meats and cheeses. The vegetables are fresh and plentiful. And the sprinkle of herbs to go with the vinegar & oil is a subtle addition that makes a difference in the overall taste of the sandwich. The hot subs are also delicious, and my favorite is the #55 Big Kahuna Chicken Cheesesteak. They are not cheap, but the qualify of the ingredients is worth it to me, and a giant sub can easily feed 3 or 4 people . Both my husband and son will eat half of a giant for dinner and bring the other half to work the next day for lunch so when you break it out like that they are average priced. They also offer Miss Vicky's brand chips in addition to some Frito Lay products so there's better quality there, too. Now on to the staff - 4.8 Stars. There have been some outstanding employees (Christina, Layla and a few others), an occasional worker here and there who should maybe consider a job not working with the public (but they're never there for long and thus the .2 star deduction) and others who are friendly and efficient. I've found them to be very accommodating. I work in Naugatuck and also use them for catering meetings from time to time and even though we aren't right there in town they still go out of their way to come to Naugatuck whenever possible, I've only had to go pick up from them once. read more

My first time here and probably my last. It's simply a Subway that slices their own meats and has a grill. They charge more for a sub than subway for about the same quality. At least subway won't take 10 minutes to make me a sub like this place. Maybe it's because they are new. But the employees need to speed things up because I know I could run circles around them. I had the urge to hop behind the counter and help them make the subs. Even the customer behind us said he would never come back on his way out and a few customers walked out after not being helped for 10 minutes while three workers help one customer and another worker texted while she was at the register. read more

I am totally disgusted with Jersey Mikes in Derby Connecticut. They are the worse store to get delivery from. They didn't send my order correctly and when I called I had to go pick it up. I am disabled and have trouble walking and the purpose for delivery was so I didn't have to go out. So they would not deliver it to me and I had to go get it and then they did not give me the correct order. This place is the worse ever and wonder why they have 2.5 stars when it comes to reviews. They have incompetent workers who don't know how to make a sandwich and fill an order. And because I received my order through Grub Hub I have to go through them to get a refund. Its not their responsibility that the restaurant can't get an order correct. That place in Derby CT needs to close down. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because they did this the last time I ordered. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT EVER GO TO JERSEY MIKES IN DERBY CT!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

This location has in general been reliable. In this current COVID environment We just really wish the food industry would take this more seriously. Today we ordered sandwiches online and paid via the app. Upon arrival the doors were locked and a few people tried to open the doors. An employee greeted them by opening the door with her gloves on. The same gloves she was just wrapping and prepping food with - and returned to the same activity with the same gloves after touching the door. Then we were told that because of the buy one get one promotion they were out of food and couldn't fill anymore orders, including ours. They had no idea what to do as far as refunds because of course, as usual, the manager was not in the store. Details like inventory control, manager delegation, and food safety should be prioritized better. read more

Had a price for a new Chipotle Turkey sub on their menu $7.95, went to pub they rang me up for a regular turkey sub that was 8.45$...pointed out the error and instead of assisting me they said "we're updating our menu that's the price it is." What a joke, never going back. read more

Everyone is very friendly when you walk in. The food is Jersey Mike's Subs. They are good.

If I could give this location 0 stars, I would. I have been to 3 other locations in CT but this one takes the cake for the worst. The food is clearly not fresh. The tomatoes on my sub were moldy and soggy! There were bugs all over the place and the service was terrible. The store manager, Mike, was so snarky and rude to his employees. He also was very creepy and made an inappropriate comment about my shirt. Long story short, if you're in the mood for bugs, mold, and sexual harassment, go to the Derby location! You'll love it! read more

The taste is there, that's how they can get 1 star. If it wasn't for the taste they've have zero stars but unfortunately in order to write a review you have to give a star The price is not. I have problems EVERY SINGLE TIME I go here and the only reason I keep going back is because my husband loves it. Its not worth the trip in gas to drive back there for them to correct the same mistake they continue to make and to drive back home. The tip question on the credit card machine is totally unnecessary. For the cost of the sandwich, they should be skimpy on the meat and the way they assemble is beyond messy and difficult to eat. I believe the staff needs retraining and/or have a guideline as to what goes on each sandwich. This is the 2nd time I've ordered #8, the club sub, and they didn't put bacon on the sandwich. I order the club purposely for the bacon and to not get not even 1 piece is disappointing. From now on if my husbands wants a sub from this place, unfortunately he will have to go and get it because I can't take the frustration of having to deal with incorrect sandwiches. It's not rocket science on making a sub. I managed a deli for 4 years and based on how the employees work, they need retraining and the Club Sub needs it's bacon. read more

Jersey Mikes completely rips you off. I went in and got a veggie wrap with mushroom added, no cheese, with mustard and buffalo sauce in place of the ranch. I payed about 8$ and got something so tiny that there was more sauce (and far too much of it) than vegetables that was slightly bigger than a soft taco at taco bell. I couldn't even eat the thing, it was like I got a mini 8 dollar sauce wrap with a tiny side of veggies. I will not be going back, this place should close it's doors for a real sub and wrap shop that doesn't rip off it's customers. The prices here are crazy for the garbage you get, I would even consider them a stretch for a place that actually gave you a reasonable amount of ingredients. read more
