The owners relocated to Pine Mountain from Cobb County in recent years, and the spot is named after their oldest son! They've been open for almost a year. The service at Dakota's Counter is exceptionally friendly and unfussy. You walk in, step up to 'the counter,' and place your order with ease and comfort, making the whole experience relaxing and enjoyable. You have a choice to eat inside, outside, or take out, catering to your preferences. We ordered the chicken caesar wrap with chips and a Cobb salad with chicken. Both were beautifully made, prepared to order, and incredibly tasty. The Arnold Palmers we ordered--with hand-squeezed lemonade and freshly brewed tea--hit the spot on this scorcher of a day. But hey, isn't that literally the restaurant's gig? To crank out tamales whether it's a dainty dozen or a full-on fiesta invasion? I politely inquire why my order is apparently triggering World War Tamale, and she snaps back, "Do you want them or NOT?" like I'm auditioning for a reality show called "Survivor: Takeout Edition." I've haunted this joint more times than a ghost in a piñata factory, and I could pick that female voice out of a lineu...blindfolded. Clearly, business is booming so hard they can audition customers now--must be nice! When we were giving her the cash gratuity, it would've been good if she would've notified us we were also going to be charged on my card for the gratuity I think saying that we only ate 25% of the food we took from the buffet and watching how many people were leaving was a clear indication. The quality of the buffet was not great and I standby many items were being left out much too long and not being covered and protected, including the hot entrées and the casseroles.
